Entries without a meaningful blue link will always be deleted[edit]

To quote MOS:DABRL, 'specifically', "Red links should not be the only link in a given entry; link also to an existing article, so that a reader (as opposed to a contributing editor) will have somewhere to navigate to for additional information. The linked article should contain some meaningful information about the term."

To quote my comment on the talk page of Western High School, "The purpose of disambiguation pages are to fork a common term toward relevant, existing articles. Red links are allowed on disambiguation pages under two major conditions. The first is that the entry must link somewhere (the red link does not count), second the article linked must discuss the entry. In this case any blue link in the Western High School for Las Vegas, Nevada MUST contain some information about the Las Vegas, Nevada Western High School. Otherwise the link will continue, and rightly so, to be removed. Anyone confused over this established guideline should click the above link to the WikiProject for disambiguations. There you will find many references and style links on how to properly format a DAB according to current consensus."

Every blue link must directly discuss the entry, every entry must have a blue link (red link or not). Any entry failing these two fundamentals will be removed on sight. ^{æronphonehome} 10:55, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Couple points: With your ultimatum of "will be removed on sight" you might want to read WP:OWN. Second, the red link part says it must not be the only red link to the topic. Then it goes on to discuss the blue link, BUT (pay attention here to the wording) should (not must, i.e. not required, i.e. only recommended) link to an article that addresses the topic (so you may want to remain civil, or "read up" your self). This makes since, as we want the reader to get info, but directing the reader somewhere is more important. Plus throw in the entire guidelines' "Break rules" section to go along with the entire point of DAB pages, which is to direct the reader somewhere, and you can hopefully comprehend why the word choice was not "MUST". For the West High School red link, think of the reader who types in "West High School" and comes to this page. If the red linked one is not there, they are going to be a little confused and have to do a search, which is one more step, which is the step eliminated by us creating DAB pages. Thus removal counteracts the entire purpose of these pages. Next, if you checked the "What links here" as it tells you to, you would see an article with content directly on point that you could have linked to before you removed the link. I was wondering when you people would realize what you were doing wrong. It amazes me the effort that goes into stamping a dead end entry onto a DAB yet no one wants to actually write the article. What are you talking about? I didn't write any article related to this entry, and I didn't do anything wrong. You improperly removed red links twice. Again, rm red links only if the red link on the DAB page is the only red link to that topic, period. Feel free to find existing articles with better info for a better blue link to go with the red link, but the red links stay. Aboutmovies (talk) 07:25, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
