Does anybody have information about RSWii?[edit]

With the new way of playing games with a Wii, a new type of RSI seems to show up. It is called RSWii. Especially playing Wii Bowling or Wii Boxing can be very painfull. Looking at some other sites it appears to connect to the Wii via a USB dongle. It's not an official nintendo product and the wii already supported standard USB keyboards so I suspect this thing just acts like one (though I dunno for sure and information seems thin on the ground). Is all that third-party stuff necessary?[edit]

The section on third-party accessories is really lengthy, as if it's trying to cover every single third-party accessory in existence. They seem almost like short advertisements to me...is all of that really necessary? I feel like it would be best to condense the majority of that section, focusing on the wide range of third-party accessories, rather than spotlighting every single one.--The Ninth Bright Shiner 00:44, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I've started by reducing the charging station section more or less to a summary of what that accessory involves, without the unnecessary detail on what each manufacturer's package includes. Can I just add that I think there is a generic third part accessory missing, namely the wireless nunchuk. There are quite a few firms making various designs of these, either an adapter for the existing nunchuk or complete replacements. All involve removing the wire between Wii Remote and nunchuk by an additional unit plugged into the port on the bottom of the Wii Remote, which communicates with the replacement nunchuk or adapter. a Weemote link in See Also section[edit]

Are there any objections for placing a wiki link to Weemote in the "See also" section? I had thought originally that it was notable enough for a blurb in "Reception" but seems like others disagreed. TH1RT3EN talk ♦ contribs 22:43, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As far as things goes, it's more trivia since the only remote link between the 2 being that the weemote trademark holder put a cease & desist order on retailer advertising the wii remote as wiimote AND proposing the name to Nintendo (who refused). If anything incorporate it in the reception or something, it's REALLY out of place in the link section (and it's actually way more useful that knowing that ubisoft botched the port of farcry, heck nobody cares when analog stick was mishandled in the first batch of 3rd party games on the n64). The article only states that "a wireless motion sensing remote" is used, but on the software list on the next page, you can see that they are using Darwiinremote. Picture of inside of wii remote needed[edit]

Nyko taking over the page?[edit]

splitting out wii motion plus[edit]

It looks like there's a substantial amount of information on this, including information on both reception and development. It won't be too long before there is enough for a couple of paragraphs about how developers and players have responded to the device. Does it make sense to split it out soon? I think it's time for a number of splits, including the Wii MotionPlus, the Classic Controller, and the Wii Zapper. I'd would also prefer a split for the accessories-related material, but am not sure what the exact subject should be for the new article. Considering that the Wii Remote article is a split from the main Wii article, further splits could potentially cause problems with piped links, redirects and such.

I don't see the problem. Subtopics are split off all the time, including subtopics of articles that were once split off themselves. I believe the Wii article itself originated as a split from the Nintendo GameCube article. None of the existing links would become broken, since none of the sections would be removed entirely (except for possible subsections of the "Third-party accessories"), and HTML anchors can always be set in the case of a removed or renamed section. At least for the Wii MotionPlus, there aren't many such links, piped or not. Excess coverage of the particular subtopics would just be moved to a separate article, and the respective sections here would be condensed. Yeah, copy that. Splitting sections into new articles is how Wikipedia is supposed to expand. I have no opinion on the other accessories, but it's apparent to me that Wii Motion Plus will probably have enough of an impact to write a long article just on it. Wierd statement in Vitality section[edit]

The article says, "At E3 2010, Ubisoft introduced their own pulse oximeter sensor, "Innergy". This device will work on all PCs, allowing for use "Anytime, anywhere." As a home console accessory, the Wii Vitality Sensor cannot offer this."

Should this statement be revised or taken out completely? First, it doesn't seem appropriate for a product from another company to be randomly be mentioned in here. Second, why put down the Wii at the end with the unverified statement, "the Wii Vitality Sensor cannot offer this?" Wrong date of revelation?[edit]

In the text, the Wiimote was revealed to the public on October 14, 2005 at the Tokyo Games Show, but as you can see in the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Tokyo_Game_Show#2005 the show was held from 16th September till 18th September 2005.

Rōmaji[edit]

So the Romanisation of the Japanese given at the start of the article is "Uī Rimokon" with a hidden note saying "The Wii console in Japanese transliteration is Uī, so Wii Remote must be Uī Rimokon, and please don't change it back." Since Wii is written ウィー, this is actually incorrect, as "Uī" would actually convert back as "ウイー." Whilst it's true that the wi sound is forced in Japanese by blending the u and i, when Romanised using Modified Hepburn as recommended by WP:MOSJA, it is in fact "Wī." Referred to as codename before codename mention[edit]
