Date of birth[edit]

Encyclopaedia Britannica gives his date of birth as 1839. What is the source of the date of 1838 given here? --Deskford (talk) 10:48, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen sources that list his date as approximately 1838 to 1839. For example, Yosemite: Art of an American Icon, edited by Amy Scott. Jim Heaphy (talk) 03:39, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is this article really a stub?[edit]

I am not saying that this article is perfect, but here's the description of a stub:

"Provides very little meaningful content; may be little more than a dictionary definition."

--- Hi, I'm doing a research paper on William Keith and was wondering if I could add some info to this page about William Keith's life. I have a quote that Keith said: "What I want to do is to study nature. The best way to do that is to be near her, and I have vague ideas about living in such close communion with her that she may adopt me and show me things hidden to every eye but that which loves her sincerely." I also wanted to add a few things about Keith's transitions of art styles: 1857- hired wood engraver, 1868 turned to oil painting.
