Dispute information on page[edit]

"It was founded in 1970 to serve students in the area south of Macon, around the same time that many other academies were created" is listed in the Windsor Academy Wikipedia entry and is factually incorrect. There is no primary citation for this information, only a link to another non cited Wikipedia page. Scott.barrett.1982 (talk) 00:33, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want anyone to discuss anything with you, please read and comply with the policies for COI editors. John from Idegon (talk) 01:20, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- John, could you please give me some guidance on this issue. I have read the COI policy and i understand what is going on, but my issue lies with the fact that i read the entry and found the untrue information which is without any citations and i am now in a position where i seemly can't do anything about it. I have tried to follow the guidelines for disputing information. I have researched the questionable information and aside from an editorial in a local paper, have seen nothing to back up the claim. As an experienced editor, i am sure you have seen this type of scenario before and your help would be greatly appreciated. I understand fully the COI issue, but that should not change the fact there is untrue information on a page without any citations. I am requesting your assistance on where we can go from here with this issue. "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable" is copied from above the text box i typed this message in, which the information in question is not. Thank you in advance for any expertise you may be able to add to this issue.Scott.barrett.1982 (talk) 14:38, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello John from Idegon, Scott.barrett.1982, Billhpike -- It is likely that Windsor Academy should be noted as a Segregation academy and fall into Category:Segregation academies in Georgia. Unless and until there is a reliable source, the claim should be stricken. Rhadow (talk) 12:38, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A reliable source is often hard to find for these. RS this is not, but it may help search. [1] The school allegedly had a giant confederate flag hanging in the gym. Maybe reliable sources about the notables would have the info. Jacona (talk) 13:08, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jacona -- You are right. I think the WP policies are right, too. Windsor is probably a mighty fine place today. Assertions about its history need to be bulletproof. We cannot engage in WP:SYNTHESIS. By the same token, these places are whitewashing history, too, using pipes to change the text of Segregation academy. If our edits are verifiable, we are fine. I am working on an article about Central Alabama Academy. I won't move it to the mainspace until its references are solid. Rhadow (talk)

The article says what the source provided says, but as you say, results in somewhat of a whitewash. I've got to get to work IRL now, thanks and keep up the good work!Jacona (talk) 13:35, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
