Overall: Basically, the hook is not interesting, but the article itself meets other requirements. Try thinking up some alts? ALT1 looks great, approved Just-a-can-of-beans (talk) 04:38, 15 February 2024 (UTC) Just-a-can-of-beans (talk) 21:55, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

@Just-a-can-of-beans: Thanks for reviewing this article. How about:
ALT1 ... that due to 19th-century French views of widespread homosexuality among Ottoman Turks, Mehmet Cemaleddin Efendi was offered male prostitutes by officials on a visit to Paris?
Happy to alter or change this hook however necessary if this is too clickbaity. –GnocchiFan (talk) 23:41, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
@GnocchiFan: Actually, I think that sounds like an awesome hook. It's not clickbait if it's true - it's just an incredibly interesting fact! Gonna change this to an approval with ALT1 hook.Just-a-can-of-beans (talk) 04:38, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
