request a change in how template works[edit]

Hi to WikiProject Architecture Bulletin editors, including Elekhh and User:WOSlinker. Hey, the bulletin is nice, but one downside of it is that it renders "What links here" less useful on all the new articles that it mentions. For example, on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP)-listed Vernal Tithing Office right now, "what links here" yields about 116 linking articles, on three 50-items-per-page pages. Many of these are links from editors' archived Talk pages, which are clearly useless in terms of informing anybody of anything, and they are just clogging up the "what links here". Grr.

I frequently encounter that, when I am trying to go back and forth between a new NRHP article and the corresponding county or city NRHP list-article. For example I may trying to fix coordinates in both places. However it is a pain to find my way to the right list-article (which is National Register of Historic Places listings in Uintah County, Utah for the Vernal Tithing Office case). Here and in other cases it always seems to show up half-way down the second page of "what links here"; i would really like for it to appear in the first page. I think it is a pain for other editors too.

Hey, is there any way the template can be changed, so that the template won't update when it is located in an archive? Or could a "no-update" switch be added? I am willing to go to all those Talk pages and comment out the template call, or switch on a "no-update" option. And send a note to all the editors whose archives I would be editing.

The only way to stop the links is to remove them. You can restrict the searching on "What links here" to just articles though by choosing the Articles namespace. Example. -- WOSlinker (talk) 07:20, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
THANK YOU, to WOSlinker, for your direction how to restrict the searching. I have now used that dozens of times, already, in the interactive process around creating new NRHP articles, often involving several editors and going back and forth to list pages.
