Queen of Hearts Couture Cakes ltd is a cake bakery based in Uxbridge, England. It was founded by Valeri Quiencen Valeriano and Maria Christina Ong on June, 2011. The company initially started selling cakes and cupcakes in their first few years then shifted to teaching cake decorating internationally,[1] as well as authoring a number of books on the topic.[2] They use only buttercream as their decorating medium.[3]

History[edit]

Valeriano and Ong moved to London from the Philippines in 2008 to work in nursing,[1] but were forced to take odd jobs after the recession hit.[3] Although they had no prior experience,[3] they started cake decorating professionally after making cupcakes for friends,[4][5] and founded Queen of Hearts Couture Cakes in 2011.[6] After selling their cakes at fairs and picking up silver and bronze medals at the Cake International Show in 2012,[7] they were asked to run teaching demonstrations,[6] and this led to teaching cake decorating full time.[8][7] Valeri and Christina have published four books.
