For posterity. Hello, Posterity![edit]

I'm no longer particularly active on the wiki. Like all hobbies and interests, the interests of a practitioner can shift as part of the natural flow of time and circumstance. Wikipedia gave me an excellent outlet for my urge to make the world a little better here and there, in the tiniest of ways. I'm still proud of my edits, my articles and the images I've contributed to what I think is the most potent manifestation of the power of the Web. Since I left the constraints of full-time education, my energies have found an outlet elsewhere – the itch is being scratched; my muse whispers to me in other spheres.

In the interests of expressing thanks, I'd like to give my thanks the many excellent editors who I've admired over the past few years (there's a face behind every name), to the editors who have left us but whose gifts live on, and to those who are yet to pick up the torch at the time I write this.

If you need to get hold of me or just want to say hi, drop me an email.

Keep up the good work!

Hey there![edit]

Please leave any comments or criticism on my talk page.

About me[edit]

I'm a student living in Essex, UK for most of the year, but during term times I'm found in Oxford.

Wikipedia interests[edit]

Generally my edits are made on articles that I stumble across in my browsing, so they tend to be on a wide range of subjects. Most edits are simply tidying up the writing, correcting typos and removing vandalism. However, I occasionally weigh in a little more on articles pertaining to chemistry or my local area. I have rollback and reviewer rights.

The first article I created was Inonotus dryadeus. I got such a buzz out of that that I went ahead and created sodium tungsten bronze too.

I am always eager to hear feedback from other users. If you'd like to comment on anything I've done (positively or negatively), do please drop me a message on my talk page. Brammers (talk/c) 08:33, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Observations[edit]

  • Since User:ClueBot_NG has been on the scene, I've been using its contribs page more than I have recent changes for fighting vandalism. If one of its edits from the past ten minutes isn't the top change on that article, the odds are good that the vandal has struck again.
  • AWB brings great power, but also great tunnel-vision. Fixing a common spelling error, such as "alot", on hundreds of articles in a session is all well and good, but such hit-and-run editing has its drawbacks. Common spelling mistakes and poor grammar can often be used as a search term: I've noticed that the articles with the most common mistakes and poorest English are also the articles most likely to have multiple issues, or not be worthy of inclusion on the encyclopedia. They either need heavy work or deletion, so taking out the red-flag spelling errors that could be used to find those articles is possibly the worst thing to do.

Who needs to ask for the mop when you're already given the stick?[edit]

Hello idiot admin! :) Are you also a typical wiki admin (jobless loser who has less educated parents from proletar class etc...) Admin of the free encyclopedia of dilettantism. You are a 0 in the society, proletar child :)

To Do[edit]

  • Add section on erratic complex Ni (II) geometries to Nickel.
  • Get new photo of Willy Lott's cottage from Constable's The Haywain.
  • Investigate material for a possible James Parnell article.
  • Spoken articles for Braille topics.
