When a village and civil parish have the same name its usually desirable to have 1 article for both the village called "Dacre" and parish also called "Darce". Thus the article Dacre, Cumbria for example is not just about the village but also about the parish that also includes the settlements of Great Blencow, Newbiggin, Soulby, Stainton and Waterfoot. The exception is cases like Scotforth where the parish doesn't include the village, in this case there should be separate articles at Scotforth and Scotforth (parish), see User:Crouch, Swale/CP whitelist.

There are also cases where the village and parish have slightly different names but the name of the parish is an alternative (commonly an older name for the village) and therefore there should still only be 1 article for both village and parish, for example the village is called "Hamstead Marshall" while the parish is called "Hampstead Marshall". Thus as above there should only be 1 article and it should generally be given the name of the village.

Generic blacklist[edit]

When checking for existing articles the bot doesn't make a distinction between names that only differ in capitalization (such as Aston le Walls/Aston Le Walls), spaces (such as Penselwood/Pen Selwood, hyphens (such as Clapton in Gordano/Clapton-in-Gordano), apostrophes (such as Rowland's Castle/Rowlands Castle, commas (such as Abbess, Beauchamp and Berners Roding/Abbess Beauchamp and Berners Roding), periods (such as Preston St Mary/Preston St. Mary), dashes v hyphens (such as Leighton–Linslade/Leighton-Linslade, see MOS:DASH), "&" and "and" (such as Trysull & Seisdon/Trysull and Seisdon), "St" and "Saint" and any other similar things others can think of. Aston-sub-Edge/Aston Subedge would be another example.

Manual blacklist[edit]

The following list is for cases like the generic blacklist but don't fit into those, in these cases the bot should treat those listed here as if they exist similar to above and create redirects if applicable. The district is given after each entry followed by the current/correct location of the article. Some (like Flixton where there are multiple in 1 district and brackets are used might need to be added). Note that the 1st link which is the name of the parish doesn't necessarily correspond to the title the parish would have been given (however they all should) but the target article does though. Thus for "Haydon" in Northumberland it would do the normal searches for the title and thus try Haydon first (which exists as a DAB), then Haydon, Northumberland (which doesn't exist) and know that it needs to redirect that title to that given in the 2nd link which is Haydon Bridge. For future runs the bot will know that "Haydon" should redirect to Haydon Bridge and will thus know that upon finding Haydon, Northumberland redirects to Haydon Bridge that it doesn't need to create another redirect. Ignoe the text after the target entry, this is just notes.

Note that for these the generic blacklist is also followed thus if Silloth-on-Solway was Silloth on Solway for example it would match "Silloth on Solway" with "Silloth-on-Solway" since the difference in hyphens falls under the generic blacklist and then "Silloth-on-Solway" to "Silloth" because its on the manual blacklist.
