Farah Oomerbhoy (born October 13, 1977) is the international bestselling author of the young adult fantasy series The Avalonia Chronicles (The Last of the Firedrakes, The Rise of the Dawnstar, and The Return of the Dragon Queen).

Originally a Wattpad author, she began her foray into the publishing world in 2015 when her first book, The Last of the Firedrakes, was picked up by Wise Ink Creative Publishing.[1]

Farah Oomerbhoy lives in south Mumbai, India, near Chowpatty Beach[2], along with her husband and their three children. She attended the University of Mumbai, where she received her Master's degree in English Literature.[3]

On July 4, 2018, Farah published a video on her YouTube channel titled "Ask Me Anything with Author Farah Oomerbhoy" where she answered questions asked by her fans. In the video, she shares that her favorite color is pink, she enjoys eating caramel popcorn, and many other facts regarding her books.

The Last of the Firedrakes[edit]

Originally published on Wattpad, The Last of the Firedrakes was Oomerbhoy's first book ever published publically. After becoming a winner in the 2015 Watty Awards, it was professionally published by Wise Ink Creative Publishing on August 15, 2015[4], becoming available internationally.

Currently, it is available in ebook or print from Amazon books, Apple Books, Rakuten Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Barnes & Noble Nook, IndieBound, and Itasca Books, and in audiobook from Audible, Amazon, Apple Books, Rakuten Kobo, Barnes & Noble Nook, and Audiobooks.com.[5] There is still a five chapter sample on Oomerbhoy's Wattpad.

The Last of the Firedrakes has won the following awards: Silver Medal winner in the 2016 Readers' Favorite Book Award, Silver award winner in IBPA's 2016 Benjamin Franklin Awards, Semifinalist Winner in the 2016 Kindle Book Award, Finalist in the 2015 USA Best Book Awards, Winner in Wattpad's 2015 Watty Awards, Awesome Indies Approved & A Wattpad Featured Story.[6]

The Rise of the Dawnstar has won the following awards: Silver award winner in IBPA's Benjamin Franklin Awards 2018, Finalist in the 2018 EPIC eBook Awards, Notable Indie in Self Unbound's 2018 Best Indie Book, Silver Medal winner in the 2017 Moonbeam Children's Book Awards & Bronze Medal winner in the 2017 Readers' Favorite Book Award.[9]

The Return of the Dragon Queen[edit]

Once again originally published on Wattpad, the conclusion to the trilogy was published professionally on November 26, 2019[10].

The Return of the Dragon Queen has won the following awards: Gold Medal winner in the Young Adult Fiction – Fantasy / Sci-Fi category of the 2020 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards, Gold Medal winner in the Young Adult – Coming of Age category of the 2020 Readers' Favorite Book Award, Winner in the Fiction: Young Adult category of the 2020 Best Book Awards, and a B.R.A.G. Medallion Honoree.[12]
