Since their 2014 debut, Rocket Ship has released one full-length studio album: Worst Confessions. Best Intentions. (2017) and three extended plays: Never Home (2014), Split (2015), and Selfish (2018). Their upcoming record is expected to release in the spring of 2020.

History[edit]

2014-2015: Inception and early years[edit]

Rocket Ship started in 2014 by drummer William Keimig and vocalist Dimitri Christo as a pop-punk project. The band played its first show in 2014 and soon after released their debut EP, Never Home. Never home was self-recorded and self-released. Rocket Ship quickly built a name for themselves in the state, supporting shows for touring acts such as Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!, Vanna, Forever Came Calling, and Hit the Lights[1][2]. The following year, the band recorded Split at Wachusett Recording in Princeton, Massachusetts, a collaborated EP with the Rhode Island band Southpier[3].

2016-2018: Worst Confessions. Best Intentions. and Selfish[edit]

In 2016, Rocket Ship began recording their first studio album, Worst Confessions. Best Intentions.. The band was headed in a notably more alt-rock sound, evolving from their previous pop-punk roots. Worst Confessions. Best Intentions. came out on June 1, 2017[4] and was well received by a wide audience. They soon after released a music video for the first track off the album "I Said Forget"[5]. The band continued on to play a release show and various shows around the Northeastern US before drummer and co-founder, William Keimig, stepped away from the band. Vocalist Dimitri Christo's brother, Elias Christo, became the new full-time drummer following Keimig's exit. On February 16, 2018, Rocket Ship released an acoustic EP titled Selfish[6], which included acoustic versions of two songs from Worst Confessions. Best Intentions. plus a brand new track.

2019-present: Upcoming release[edit]

Following the release of Selfish, Rocket Ship began writing their next record. At this point, the lineup consisted of Dimitri Christo, Nicholas Barris, and Elias Christo. The trio recorded the record in June of 2019 with Cory Bergeron at Pebble Studios in Ottawa, Ontario Canada[7]. In an online interview, the band built up the anticipation of the record, stating it was "the first accurate representation" of the band and a project that they couldn't be prouder of[8]. Later that year, Rocket Ship supported the Korean rock-band Say Sue Me on the Boston date of their US tour[9].

Currently, Rocket Ship is gearing up for the release of their latest record. On February 14, 2020, they released the first single, titled "Cross My Heart"[10], off of the upcoming record as well as a music video for the song[11]. "Cross My Heart" became the band's most successful single to date and earned them recognition to join Super Whatevr on their show at the Worcester Palladium[12].

On February 27, 2020, Rocket Ship announced via Faceboook that they would be removing their studio album Worst Confessions. Best Intentions. from streaming services, stating that they feel the album no longer represents the band and its evolved sound. They assured fans that the album will always be available for free download on their bandcamp[13]. A month later, Rocket Ship released the second single, "A Night at the Pool", from their upcoming album and a music video[14].
