Resources[edit]

All students should look up their subject in the Garland Encyclopedia of World Music. This reference set is available in various OSU libraries, but can also be accessed online here. You will need to be on a campus computer or use the Off-campus library sign in. Once you sign in to the off-campus service, go this this url: [1]. Besides articles on the subject, you will find references to other sources.

For search journal articles and books, you can use RILM Music Abstracts search engine (available on the Music and Dance library website: [2]. You might find some information in Grove/Oxford Encyclopedia (also available on the Music library website), but its focus is mainly European classical music. You must be on campus or signed in through off-campus services to use these resources.

Articles can be requested as pdfs through interlibrary loan and books can be delivered to the library at the Delaware center, so access should not be a problem.

You should also look for content on the web, but be very careful about it. Check the reputation of the site and the value of the information. Excellent websites can be used as references for the articles or can be placed in an external links section. Youtube videos should not be linked unless it is clear that it has the proper copyright usage.
