Hi[edit]

Hi Pedro. I noticed that sometimes you have some problems getting everything the way you want it to be here. I just wanted to let you know that I'd be willing to help you if you ever have any questions, or need some assistance. Sometimes, if an article won't quite survive in article space, either because it's not really notable, or it doesn't have enough references, or for whatever reason; you can create the article in your own user space. When you do that, it is sort of a sandbox environment that you can work on it with much less scrutiny on the quality of the article. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know, that I'm willing to help you if you ever want me to. Don't get discouraged; sometimes it just takes some time and work to get to understand all the things going on around here. Cheers, and please keep on working. — Ched :  ?  21:35, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

LOL at "delete Crystal". Probably are a lot of folks that would like that - but boy would I get in trouble for trying to. ;-) — Ched :  ?  21:49, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Do you mean like: Gene Simmons Family Jewels, or are you talking about a different "Simmons family"? — Ched :  ?  22:07, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

New page[edit]

I created a quick page at: User:Pedro thy master/Simmons family. I think there might be enough information about it to make it a workable article. Do some editing to it, add what you want the article to be focused on, and I'll look in from time to time to see if I can help. If you find a good web-site about the family, but don't know how to "WP:CITE" things yet, just put the url on the talk page at: User talk:Pedro thy master/Simmons family. I was never a huge KISS fan, but I'll try to help if I can. — Ched :  ?  22:35, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Good work[edit]

You learn pretty fast there Pedro. It's looking pretty good. One thing you may want to start learning is the "edit summary". At the bottom of the edit window, right above the "Save page" button, is another single line window you can type in. It's basically to make notes of what you did and why. It helps both you, and other editors, see how an article has progressed as it gets built up. You can type things like: "copyedit for better understanding", "added references", "fixed spelling" ... things like that. Some folks just use short notes: "ce" (for copyedit), "sp" (for spelling fixes) ... either way, it's a good practice to get into early on - it will help you find things later as the edits increase. Let me know if you need a hand with anything. Cheers. — Ched :  ?  02:14, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Pedro[edit]

Please stop for a bit. Your editing at 24 (TV series) is raising concerns with other editors. Please use the article talk pages, or if you'd like - discuss the issues with the editors who work on the articles on their own talk pages. I greatly appreciate your enthusiasm, your devotion, your dedication, and your eagerness to help - but rushing into things too quickly can often lead to misunderstandings, hurt feelings, and resentment by other editors. Please talk to Steve before you continue. He has more experience in mentoring editors than I do, and he is willing to help you. Please listen to him, and allow him to show you how to be more productive and helpful. I'll get back to you ASAP, as I am very pressed for time at the moment, but I don't want to see you getting into trouble either.

If Steve is willing to offer you his mentor-ship program, it could provide you with some very very valuable resources and knowledge. He has often helped me when I was not sure how to help. — Ched :  ?  03:48, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

I did want you to know that I really, really appreciate you helping out at the articles that I work on Pedro. I hope that my post above didn't come across as too "abrupt", ... I was very pressed for time. You are learning very quickly, and it's hard for me to keep up with everything that goes on here at WP. I do look forward to continuing to work with you. ;) — Ched :  ?  11:33, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey you[edit]

Hey Pedro. It has been many years since I had a class, but I'm going to give it a shot here ...

Como estoy?

LOL ... sorry, it's been years since I spoke any Spanish. I did get to go to Spain for 10 days in my senior year though. What a great memory. Anyway ... what I wanted to ask you. Are you familiar with page history and watchlists? You can read about them at:

If you already know that then that's great. It helps to be able to follow these couple things. All my best my friend. — Ched :  ?  08:45, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Sig[edit]

There is an article at WP:SIG, but I found it hard to follow. Basically, you need to go to your preferences page - and down on Signature part, you need to put a check in the Sign my name exactly as shown box. Then write your code - something like the following:

  • [[User:Pedro thy master|<span style="color: #AC0000">Pedro J.</span>]][[User talk:Pedro thy master|<span style="color: #000080">the rookie</span>]]

That will give you:

For the specific colors you want, look at the article: HTML color names. Try it out on your talk page, or in a sandbox first to make sure it works. Note: The "the Rookie" won't show as a link on your own talk page, simply because you are already ON your talk page .. lol. Hope that helps. — Ched :  ?  18:18, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Brian and Stewie[edit]

Just a few quick comments that I hope will help:

  • In both cases, you need more real world background information. Take a look at all of the Simpson character GA/FAs like Homer Simpson, Bart Simpson or Waylon Smithers: in all three cases, such info takes up almost half the article.
  • I'm impressed with how much the "Ambiguous sexuality" section in Stewie's article has been cleaned up. Last time I saw it, it was a huge mess. I think the quote in the section should use the {{quote box2}} template.
  • Is there any way that you could include Brian in the family section in the infobox on Stewie's article? He's a major character and a family member, and I think it would be very useful to include him.
  • In Stewie's article, the "Family Guy: Stewie's Guide to World Domination" section should be trimmed quite a bit. In the Simpsons characters, all books and such have been combined into a "merchandise" section.
  • This is more of a personal opinion than anything, but I really dislike "Other appearances"/"in pop culture" sections. In many cases, the appearances are very minor and/or unsourced. I don't think you really need a dozen examples to prove that the character has a place in pop culture.
  • In Brian's article, the first four sections should be combined and it should be reorganized. Some advice: The way I write character articles is to split everything into four sections: in universe (ie. "Role in The Simpsons", real world/background (ie. "Character"), Reception & analysis, and influnce & merchandise. You don't have to follow that model, but it would be a good start.

You have a good start on both articles, but I think both need more real world info. I hope that helps. -- Scorpion0422 15:04, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Do some Google news searching and searching in sources like NewsBank. Search for something general like "Stewie Griffin" and see what comes up. If you're not getting anything, try looking for specific episodes that heavily feature the character. -- Scorpion0422 00:45, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

You could discuss why Seth McFarlane decided to voice the characters, where he got their voices from, whether he ever considered casting someone else, etc. -- Scorpion0422 23:24, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Re: FG.[edit]

I like to think so. I've seen just about every episode. I don't have any of, nor have I seen any of, the DVD's. But on the topic of the episodes and most pop culture related references, I like to think so. Why? --HELLØ ŦHERE 22:09, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Possibly. What specifically do you need help with? --HELLØ ŦHERE 22:13, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, I wouldn't call myself and "expert", but I'm pretty well-rounded in both I guess. --HELLØ ŦHERE 22:19, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
The Family Guy main page? --HELLØ ŦHERE 01:58, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, I can take a look. I was trying to clean the Stewie page a little. --HELLØ ŦHERE 02:08, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Do you have any Family Guy DVDs? That is where you will find commentary, and what grammar/spelling do you need help with. CTJF83Talk 03:48, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Might I suggest that you download Firefox, as it will show you spelling errors. That, or use a sandbox to write when you want, and then have someone check it over for spelling/grammar errors, before you publish and save it CTJF83Talk 06:08, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Actually yes, that is a good idea. You can just copy and paste an article to word, make your changes, and then copy it back to here. CTJF83Talk 17:22, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Skimming over, it's getting better, still not GA ready though. There are less pictures, which is good. You are still using planet family guy as a source, which you shouldn't. Once you think you're read to nominate it for GA, let me know, and I'll do a through read over CTJF83Talk 20:28, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Buddy TV looks good to me. Like here how they say they got their information from E! online, that is very good. If planet family guy did that, they would be a reliable source too, but they don't. CTJF83Talk 21:31, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
You really shouldn't use videos as a source either. Someone should be able to check references easily, not have to watch a video. See if you can find a print source that is reliable. CTJF83Talk 21:35, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm not 100% sure, I'd say take a little time to look for a printed source, but according to the 2nd paragraph here, videos are ok, as long as they are distributed by a reliable third-party source, I guess they are ok, so no youtube video references. CTJF83Talk 21:54, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
do you want me to just check on Family Guy, or character articles too? CTJF83Talk 20:59, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Ok, give me a little bit, I'm looking over my watchlist changes, then I'll check it out, and get back to you in 15 or so minutes. CTJF83Talk 21:01, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Already I can tell you it isn't ready at all. Like this...."The politicians on the show are some not normal laws, but the show those have some politics that do exist in the real world like for example the episode You May Now Kiss the... Uh... Guy Who Receives,[72] [73] Gay Marriage is band from the Quahog city because the mayor had made an error. In the show it is shown that the resident’s of the city have are close minded when it comes to religion, in the episode Not All Dogs Go to Heaven,[74] when Meg tells people that Brian is an atheist people go against him." what does that even mean? It doesn't make any sense. CTJF83Talk 21:14, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
It didn't necessarily need to be removed, I just didn't understand what you were trying to say CTJF83Talk 21:25, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Still written poorly, sorry to say. You are also providing your own opinion and WP:OR by saying the citizens are closed minded and that the gay marriage law is unusual. Is User:Bovineboy2008 saying he thinks it is ready for GA? I'm not sure how much help he is providing. CTJF83Talk 21:42, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
No, right now (other than grammar and spelling) it is high-B or low-A. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 22:38, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Have you tried to use microsoft word to correct spelling/grammar, like I had suggested? CTJF83Talk 04:51, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't really think the opening is a hallmark of the show, unlike The Simpsons. Also, it is unnecessary to have multiple references for one single point, two maximum works. I'd say only 2 for real life bio, for something major, like death or something. CTJF83Talk 05:21, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Ugh, Pedro! I'm going to have to start my own subpage for what is wrong with this article...."Reruns on Adult Swim[7][8][9] drove interest in the show up,' not one of the sources says that. They say FG is shown on Adult Swim, but none say it drove interest up, plus one is a wiki, which is clearly an unacceptable source. CTJF83Talk 05:25, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
"MacFarlane was working for Hannah-Barbera[4][5] and was working on the pilot for family guy." where on that source is his name even mentioned?! Come on Pedro! I'm done for tonight, it is too frustrating. CTJF83Talk 05:29, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Do you have grammar corrector on your version of word? CTJF83Talk 17:17, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't remember that, are you meaning of gallery of FG pictures? That is strongly frowned upon, and usually unacceptable. CTJF83Talk 22:59, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
I think it's a good idea, who and why was it removed? CTJF83Talk 17:19, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't see a reason to remove them, what was Bovine's reason for removal. CTJF83Talk 17:30, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
Please do not edit FG till I'm done with my review, as it will cause an edit conflict. CTJF83Talk 20:52, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I've done some clean up and fixes and have made several suggestions on improving the article before it is nominated. Let me know if you have more questions! CTJF83Talk 21:33, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
What's going on with this? I haven't heard from you in a while. CTJF83Talk 23:57, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I'll let you know if I have more suggestions. CTJF83Talk 03:09, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
For a theme section look at The_Simpsons#Themes. For your reception, I made a few minor grammar changes (In the future remember all newspapers get italics, as long as anytime you have the words Family Guy, and all quotes from people get quotation marks, I've fixed these for you)

Family Guy has also received positive reviews from critics. Catherine Seipp of the National Review Online called it a "nasty but extremely funny" cartoon.[1] Caryn James from the The New York Times, called it a show with an "outrageously satirical family" and "includes plenty of comic possibilities and parodies."[2] The Sydney Morning Herald gave Family Guy a positive review calling it the Show Of The Week in April 21, 2009, and also called it a "pop culture-heavy masterpiece".[3] Frazier Moore from the Seattle Times called it an "endless craving for humor about bodily emissions". He also called it "breathtakingly smart" and said a "blend of the ingenious with the raw helps account for its much broader appeal". He finished up by calling it "rude, crude and deliciously wrong".[4] Actress Emily Blunt called it her favorite series.[5]

Hulu vid[edit]

Hey Pedro. It's an interview with Mila Kunis (and other cast members and director) about her being cast in the role as Meg Griffin. It's less than two minutes long - is there something from it you need for a reference? — Ched :  ?  03:18, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Welcome![edit]

It is always wonderful to see brand new editors join the squadron. I didn't learn about WP:ARS until I had been on wikipedia for 3 years. I hope our little community gives you more in help and assistance than you contribute to the project. Welcome!

Here to help articles tagged for rescue!

Hi, Pedro thy master, welcome to the Article Rescue Squadron! We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying and rescuing articles that have been tagged for deletion. Every day hundreds of articles are deleted, many rightfully so. But many concern notable subjects and are poorly written, ergo fixable and should not be deleted. We try to help these articles quickly improve and address the concerns of why they are proposed for deletion. This covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome! Ikip (talk) 15:20, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Family Guy[edit]

Hi, I'm sorry, but I kinda hate doing stuff at other reviewer's request. I'll problably help out, but I just don't have a lot of time. I could see if I could give a second pre-GAn review if it would help? The main problem is a gigantic lack of references, I'll see if I can find some more.--Music26/11 14:50, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Don't know if I can claim anything, but before the article goes to GAN, I would like to work on the reception section. Because, frankly, that section sucks. If you would like to expand it yourself, I would advice House and 30 Rock for inspiration.--Music26/11 15:04, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I got the message. I not much of a fan of family guy, but I can help. Why do you ask? Secret Saturdays (talk to me)

Peer reviews[edit]

Hi. Please note that when you are considering requesting a peer review, it is generally a good idea to first and at least make a note on the article talk page to possibly generate discussion about a review. Also note that when you've requested a peer review, there are instructions on the nomination page that should be followed. The page says "Your review may be more successful if you politely request feedback on the discussion pages of related articles; send messages to Wikipedians who have contributed to the same or a related field; and also request peer review at appropriate Wikiprojects." As it was on the Heath Ledger article, no one knew a peer review had even been requested until someone came along to post a link to the review he had done. Editors had discussed at one point work this article to a good or featured article status but had postponed any movement in that direction until awards season had ended, his estate had been settled and the Terry Gilliam film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, had been released. Basically, when those things happen, the article would be fairly much complete and could then move forward. Wildhartlivie (talk) 20:36, 13 September 2009 (UTC) Also, please do not move forward to incorporate or make changes in the article until the peer review has been closed and concerned editors have had a chance to consider and discuss comments made in the peer review. There are many editors who have worked long and hard on this article and their viewpoints and concerns need to be considered and who should be involved in any movement toward GA or FA status. Wildhartlivie (talk) 20:46, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

WP:FILM September Election Voting[edit]

This message has been sent as you are registered as an active member of the project. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 02:12, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Re:Family GUy[edit]

I'm sorry, but I haven't any time recently to take a look at the article. Try asking DaBomb87, he's a much better reviewer than I, and I'm sure he'll be willing to take a look. -- Scorpion0422 03:10, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

What type of help? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 21:16, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, I don't know what kind of theme Family Guy uses. I've seen the show, but I'm not really that knowledgeable about it. Maybe you should ask someone who's worked on Family Guy related articles. I've never worked on them, only reviewed them. Sorry. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 14:55, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
