The Spirit Indestructible is the forthcoming fifth studio album by Canadian recording artist Nelly Furtado and her fourth in English after her first Spanish project Mi Plan (2009). Furtado announced the title of the album on April 5, 2012 on her Twitter after being referred to as T.S.I. prior to the announcement. She also announced the title of the lead single, "Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)", which was shot on the same day she announced the title of the album.

Background and development[edit]

Furtado uploaded number of videos to her YouTube channel to show her fans the recording process of the album and behind the scene footage. One of the video is an 8-minute long mini-movie that takes place in Los Angles during the weekend of the 54th Grammy Awards. Furtado expressed her concern and nervousness prior to meeting Bob Rock, whom she thought she would never be able to work with. Furtado also talked about her experience with the English producer Fraser T. Smith, who worked with the likes of Adele, Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue and even Furtado herself in her collaboration "Broken Strings" with James Morrison.

In an interview with a presenter from the social networking website Best Fan, Furtado described the album as her "kick ass side." She talked about the collaborations that will be featured on the album which include a duet with Michael Angelakos form Passion Pit, who wrote the song with Nelly in one night. She also confirmed that the song she previously performed live with Dylan Murray, entitled "Be Okay", will be featured on the album. Portuguese Folk singer Sara Tavares will also be featured on the record.
