Career[edit]

LO was born and raised in British Hong Kong. He moved to London at the age of 16 to study at the London College of Fashion.

In 2012, LO debuted his first collection in London Fashion Week under Lulu Kennedy MBE’s Fashion East initiative[1], a scheme that nurtures young fashion designers.

In 2014, British Fashion Council's awarded their NEWGEN sponsorship to LO. His London Fashion Week show collaborators included Isamaya Ffrench[2], Sam McKnight[3] and Stephen Jones (milliner)[4].

In 2015, LO showcased his first solo runway show at the Tate Britain. His label was also nominated for the LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize the same year alongside Virgil Abloh’s OFF White, Simon Porte Jacquemus and Demna Gvasalia’s Vetement.[5]

In 2016, LO staged a special fashion show at the Southbank Centre [6] which featured the then-unknown English Actor Emma Corrin as part of Southbank's summer scheme.

In 2019, LO’s personal portrait was featured in Martin Parr’s exhibition "Only Human: Photographs by Martin Parr" at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

His work has appeared in editorials for Vogue Japan, Vogue China, British Vogue, i-D, V Magazine, Another Magazine, Dazed and Confused, Self Service and LOVE.

Style and Influences[edit]

LO has credited his Hong Kong upbringing as a major influence on his collections.[7] The unique cultural melting pot is of particular inspiration. In a review published by SHOWstudio: they described LO's aesthetic collection as Lolita fairytale. "Ruffles, organza and the most beautiful embroidery reminded one of cotilion; these were girls coming of age, coming out and searching for a suitor."

Often plays with opposites, which blurred lines between high fashion and pop culture.[8] His past collaborations include sketch (restaurant)[9], Launer[10], Silver Cross (company)[11]and Sanrio Hello Kitty.[12]

Red Carpet and Celebrities[edit]

As an independent designer, LO dressed Ellen Fanning at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival[13], Helena Bonham Carter at Netflix's The Crown (season 3) worldwide premiere[14] and Lily James's wedding dress at Comic Relief's Red Nose Day which aired on BBC One.[15][16]

Other celebrities who have worn his designs include Kiko Mizuhara[17], Masie Williams[18], Lucy Boyton, Lorde, Rina Sawayama and Lily Allen.

Emma Corrin and Emma Laird had modelled in his fashion shows during their formative modelling years before switching to acting.
