Cut-n-paste move[edit]

Hi, I have noticed that you have cut-n-pasted the content of the Antiokh Dmitrievich Kantemir instead of just moving the article. I agree that Antiokh Dmitrievich is a weird name, but please never do cut-n-paste moves: this way you loose the history of article changes and even violate terms of GFDL. Hi, Чръный. Most of the users of Wikipedia do not know how to read Cyrillic, thus, Cyrillic titles are very inconvenient to them. We usually only use Cyrillic titles for the things that were deliberately released by and for Western with Cyrillic titles. Otherwise we either use the name of the song as it was released in the English traslation (if known) or the transliteration of the Cyrillic title. Also as matter of courtesy if a title is somehow established and not obviously wrong (with typos, etc.) it is usually a good idea to discuss any proposed move on the talk page before the move. Again, you have changed the order without any discussion and without citing any additional data. As was shown at Talk:History_of_Christianity_in_Ukraine, *all* independent surveys show that the UOC-KP has more followers than the UOC-MP. If you have other data, please feel free to share it. Yes. It is de-faco independent part of Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, although leaders of this organisation consider itself as part of UAOC. (ru:Украинская автокефальная православная церковь (обновлённая), uk:Українська автокефальна православна церква (оновлена)). official name of this organization: "Українська Автокефальна Православна Церква Харківсько-Полтавська Єпархія" - "Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. Hi - why did you redirect Steve Price without discussion? You have incorrectly titled the new page, he does not play Rugby, he plays Rugby league. A quick glance at the what links here would show you that the rugby league player is clearly the primary subject - will you be updating the wikilinks after you have fixed the disambig? Age of Enlightenment[edit]

Dear Чръный - I've been keeping an eye on the "Age of Enlightenment" template. A while ago I pruned it, with the consent of some other people - it was getting too long. There are three main conditions that I've been suggesting - that the "notable figures" be known for their writing (rather than as politicians, musicians, mathematicians, etc.), that their dates line up with the Enlightenment, and that they meet a decent standard of notability. At that time a lot of people were removed, including the ones you recently added back in. Based on your edits on ruwiki you should be interested... I think she is a good poet, but what she does with her music and song is simply incredible. She takes good poetry, but something I would not be especially impressed with (e.g. "Buzina" by Tsvetaeva is hardly one of her best), and transforms it with enormous passion to something beyond imagination. Probably only best songs by Pugacheva and a few songs by others would be in the same league. Others either do not reach same level of performance or create very nice and beautiful songs, nothing more. Speaking about Blazhenny (or Blazhennykh?) Слово "неслыханно" свидетельствует о вашем недостаточном знакомстве с источниками. Результаты поиска в гугле свидетельствуют о том, что очень даже слыханно. Могу также сказать и то что в викиэнциклопедии orthodoxwiki.org для монашествующих используется именно именование со скобками. Я имел ввиду не викиэнциклопедию для монашествующих, а то что в викиэнциклопедии orthodoxwiki.org при именовании статей о монашествующих используются скобки.
Конечно традиции англовики Вам известны лучше, чем мне, но насколько я успел заметить в англовики, в отличие от русской, не разработано правил для именования статей о православном духовенстве. Если с белым духовенством всё вобщем ясно: статья именуются так же как и у светских лиц, то с монашесвующими, особенно епископами начинаются уже неясности: вот например, отчего статья именуется "Filaret, Metropolitan of Moscow", а не например "Metropolitan Filaret of Moscow" или или "Philaret (Drozdov) of Moscow", или "Metropolitan Filaret (Drozdov)", не говоря уже о "Philaret (Drozdov)", версии, которую я предлагал. Уверяю вас, подобные варианты при именовании статей о православных епископах мне встречались. Hello, you made 4 recent edits to the Kiril article without providing a single edit summary. Perhaps, with 3, they were minor edits, but this one involved the removal of significant information. Maybe the edit was correct, maybe not, but to not explain it is rude to other editors and creates more work for them. This passage (with "wife") is not needed. Patriarch Cyril has been never married, in fact he is a monk, that fully eliminates any possibility of getting married. Hmm, I see somebody reverted all your edits from today on that page! I happen to agree with the revert, so unless you give proper summaries I'll back the other editor. Especially about the Pussy Riot stuff - that should stay and is entirely legitimate (how you could delete it WITHOUT a summary beggars belief). The fact is Patriarch never said anything specifically about Pussy Riot. In 2012, there were many cases where people are directly displayed extreme aggression against Christian symbols. Just a case of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior was the most famous. The message of the patriarch in the fact that people can not act like that. Patriarch's words were presented incorrectly, their original meaning was distorted. I generally watch the patriarch, but I never heard him say exactly what had happened in the CSC: "they were "doing the work of Satan"". Thank you! However, I am not sure that you made correct move (just to be like on ruwiki). It is my understanding that "Hieromonk Roman" makes sense, but simply "Roman" does not. This is like Apostle Paul versus simply "Paul". Perhaps more important, "Hieromonk Roman" in this context actually appears as his pen-name (strange, is not it?). Hi mate! I saw the above at AFD and it looked like you had stepped away for a couple of hours. So I did some cleaning up, added some sources and responded at the AFD. Please feel free to fix anything I might have gotten wrong (I do plenty with the Catholic Church but Eastern Orthodoxy is well outside my comfort zone). Hopefully the sources I added were okay but feel free to swap them out if you find better ones. It was really just a matter of making a few fixes so I could justify !voting to keep it. Daniel of Erie[edit]

When you added the article on Daniel of Erie while editing it-you removed the citation. This resulted the article being prodded. I reinserted the citation and removed the prod tag. Ещё один недостаток этого списка в том, что здесь нет единой системы в именах: они могут как переводиться: Michael, так и траслитерироваться: Mikhail. Да, я знаю, это частая проблема в английском языке, есть несколько видов транскрипции. Например можно писать Rublev, или Rublyov, и.т.д. Я думаю нужно писать иноческие имён на греческом, а мiрние русские — на русском. Вот Andrew я бы оставил Andrey. Tomcat (7) 15:41, 14 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Когда я пишу о православном духовенстве я в целом использую такую практику: монашеские имена (даваемые в церковнославянской форме) переводятся, а светские (по паспорту) - транслитерируются. Но со святыми всё несколько сложней - ведь в месяцеслове и в житиях они тоже даются как монашеские, то есть в церковнославянской форме: Феодор, а не Фёдор; Иоанн, а не Иван; Алексий, а не Алексей, и др. И поэтому я считаю возможным использовать перевод этих имён, а не транслитерацию. В истониках на английском языке уже устоялось называть Ионна Крошташского John of Kronstadt.   • I do not agree with phrase "first language was not Russian". I did not find his detailed biography. I do not know when he moved from Volgograd (then Stalingrad) oblast, where he was born, to Kiev. But the Ukrainian schools in the Stalingrad oblast were not existed. But in Kiev, where he lived after the war, school education was in Russian, although the Ukrainian language and history were also studied. I want to note that Kiev during the times of Soviet Ukraine was for the most part a Russian-speaking city. This is particularly evident in a society of people with higher education. It's incorrect to represent Olexenko as a certain semi-foreigner, to whom the Russian language was not native. The situation was completely different with the Baltic actors. They were born, lived and studied in the interwar period, when Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were not part of the USSR. The study of the Russian language at that time was not mandatory. The culture there was not Russian and not Soviet. Such situation notedly continued even after the entry of these countries into the USSR. This roughly means, that all authorized registration bodies are prohibited to perform any registration [i.e. changing] actions in relation to the Kiev metropolis of the UOC and its structural religious organizations prior to the resolution of court dispute on the merits of the claimed claims. This decision of the courts of previous instances was recognized as "suitable and necessary". Well, as I said it is a "rought schematic" so of course it is very ugly and hard to read. I am working with a graphic designer who hopefully will take care of the final design and make things neater. As for the Old Believers, I thought about showing the different churches/sects, but I thought it would have made the schematic too cluttered, and that it would have taken a lot of time to do research on every group. I think the Old Believers need to have their own schematics only for them. As for the splits from the ROCOR, I believe there is no problem.
What I am more interested in is: is the data accurate (nothwistanding my decision to simplify by showing the Old Believers only as one movement and not each church)?

  • In this form, this scheme is quite meaningless because it puts very large schisms (Old Believers, the Kiev Patriarchate) in one row with very small ones. There are a number of small splits. But there is often very little information about them. And there are very many small associations that have broken away from the Moscow Patriarchate. The last part - "a murder from around the corner, like the Warsaw one" - seems strange to me, especially since it appears to refer to the Polish-Soviet war of 1920.

Need of information concerning a True Orthodox Church[edit]

Hello. I am facing a strange situation which I am not sure I understand properly, so I would need your help. From what I understand, the First Hierarch of the ROCOR V-F, Filaret (Semovskikh) (yes, its Russian Wikipedia page is in complete disarray), has apparently been replaced by someone else as First Hierarch, Filaret (Rozhnov). Filaret (Semovskikh) refused this election, and created a new Holy Synod. Semovskikh was then removed from office the Holy Synod headed by Rozhnov.
Trying to explain the situation, I wrote:

- ROCOR (V-F (R)): the ROCOR V-F after it excommunicated its First Hierarch Met. Filaret (Semovskikh) in October 2020; the church had apparently previously elected Filaret (Rozhnov) as First Hierarch in 2019, see also here, here, here, here, and here. I may add it in the future.

However, I find it strange that a new First Hierarch was elected before the current one was officially removed. After patiently looking into the older posts of the official website of the ROCOR (V-F (R)), I found no declaration of the Holy Synod about the election of Filaret (Rozhnov) as First Hierarch in 2019. The only place this information is officialy given is in the biography of Filaret (Rozhnov). Could you make some more research to confirm that Filaret (Rozhnov) was elected as First Hierarch in 2019, before Filaret (Semovskikh) was removed?

Ok, I managed to find the resolution of the synod from August 25/September 6, 2019. In it, Rozhnov is indeed elected as interim chairman of the synod with Semovskikh still keeping his mantle of FH. Also, from reading "Establishment of the Sochi-Black Sea Vicariate under the omophorion of the First Hierarch of the PRTs / ROCOR, Metropolitan Filaret", it seems Semovskikh was preparing to retire. It is something like President and Vice-President. This scheme originates back in the ROCOR. As long as the First Hierarch is alive and well, the position of Deputy First Hierarch is rather an honorary one.   • sources should be checked to see if they match the information given
  • the definition of the subject of the article should be made more precise or more complete; currently, it is very vague; it is especially the case on the reasons why those groups left and how they were considered as illegal — I believe they are not illegal anymore now, but the article states "have moved to an illegal position since the 1920s" so it makes it look like they still are
  • the body of the article is totally unsourced

I would like to refer you to my suggestion in the Talk Page of Eparchies and Metropolitanates of the Russian Orthodox Church regarding the change of term in the Russian Orthodox Church ecclesiastical units from 'Diocese of' to 'Eparchy of' as it's more accurate wording in the context of the Russian Orthodox Church and Eastern Orthodoxy. I understand that "Eparchy" is the most literal translation of the russian term "Епархия". But the fact is that on all English-language diocesan websites of the Russian Orthodox Church, the word "Diocese" is used.
