Dates and file links[edit]

Just a heads up, on this edit you broke a file link. Cheers. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 18:28, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And another one here. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 19:53, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I've fixed my script so that this will never happen again. I've also verified all my edits that have been made to pages linking to the template in question - no more of them had this problem. 1exec1 (talk) 21:34, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Date format (Years in literature, Retrieved)[edit]

Hi. Does WP:MOSNUM imply that Carnegie Medal succession boxes should not link the award date to Category:Years in literature. At The Machine Gunners (revision history) I have retained that one change while reverting Retrieved-date format changes that were not "per WP:MOSNUM".

That first paragraph is a copy of my note User talk:Robina Fox#Carnegie Medal succession box to the editor (December 2008) of the succession box. --P64 (talk) 22:59, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The relevant guideline for my change is WP:YEARLINK, I don't think there's much connection between a particular award and all developments in literature that happened in the same year. 1exec1 (talk) 23:44, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

HMS Amethyst (1799)[edit]

Hi 1exec1, I reverted a change you made. In converting some things to dmy format, you changed a direct quote. The clasps for the Naval General Service Medal (1847) followed relatively idiosyncratic and inconsistent practices with respect to a number of things, including dates and abbreviations, including those of months. However, it is anachronistic to change them. Regards, Acad Ronin (talk) 04:40, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. I've fixed the part of my script that deals with quotes - these should now be left untouched. Thanks! 1exec1 (talk) 13:45, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Great. That's what Wikipedia is about - continuous incremental improvement. Regards, Acad Ronin (talk)

Date formats[edit]

Hi 1exec1, I noticed you changed the date format in List of 1920s jazz standards. I don't think that this is correct, as WP:STRONGNAT encourages using the month-before-day format for US-related topics. I think the change should be reversed. Regards, Jafeluv (talk) 10:44, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I undid the change. 1exec1 (talk) 12:37, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks! Jafeluv (talk) 13:22, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

new work list request[edit]

Now that I've finished processing the articles on the lists you made for me, could I ask you to analyse the articles on my to do list and sort it in the same way as the previous list so that the dmy/mdy decision is apparent? The list are of all articles where there are dates with errors or otherwise non-compliant with MOSNUM given by the regex (date\s*=\s*)([1-2]\d{3})(–0?\d–([0-2]?\d|30|31)|[\-–]0?\d[\-–]([1-9])|[\-–]\d[\-–]([0-2]?\d|30|31))(?=\s*[\|\}]). Cheers, -- Ohconfucius ping / poke 14:10, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. My scripts sort articles by looking at Wikipedia dumps. It is thus currently not possible to sort a predetermined list of articles. I'll see what I can do though. 1exec1 (talk) 19:06, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind. That list is tough to negotiate without serious detriment to productivity. I'm finding other ways and other lists to work on. In the meantime, can you take a look at this edit – there may be a false negative that the script failed to act on an ordinal date string: "the 14th of August 2012" -- Ohconfucius ping / poke 06:55, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
