Re: Grammar help

Hi, good to see you're back, that sounds like an interesting project. Literally, this term refers to books that have been well used and have become worn away at the edges, but in this context I think it means the city looks "well lived in". Hope that makes sense. I'm thinking it means comfortable, homely; not brand new looking and therefore unfamiliar, but rather a well-used habitat. That's what I mean by "well lived in". I've Googled the term and found this, which states "...the hopeless marketing strategies of Golan and Globus – I finally caught it playing second feature to Tobe Hooper’s Lifeforce at a seedy cinema in Blackpool". From what I can gather it either means the film was second in the running order, or was played on a less prestigious screen in the cinema complex. 20:01, 2 August 2014 (UTC)

Going by Oxford Dictionaries, if one roves they "travel constantly without a fixed destination" and brief refers to a "set of instructions given to a person about a job or task". Hey, old friend!! I have learned my lesson. If I can find more info, then I will add it to the article. But since my only source no longer has anything, it will be long time coming if ever!

Steven Defour

Yes I agree, those fans should remember that Monsieur Defour is somebody's son and a human being like everybody else. The tone used by fans at some big football matches is far too violent for what is an entertainment spectacle. It's not all that common in England any more, at least in the Premier League - far less "passion" (and I'm counting both good and bad forms of enthusiasm under the term "passion"). We sometimes hear about MUFC fans singing about the Hillsborough disaster or Liverpool fans about the Munich air disaster, but this is very rare as it's well documented that most of the fans of those clubs live in the "Home counties" (the rural commuter areas around Greater London). There's usually disgusting stuff at Old Firm games, but these fixtures are a rarity since Rangers went down the financial toilet.

Strangely, I can think of an inverse of this situation from 2009. Emmanuel Adebayor scored for Man City against Arsenal, and ran the full length of the pitch afterwards to taunt the travelling Gunner fans. What Ronaldo was sent off for was nothing compared to what he wasn't sent off for. An interesting point about Córdoba, I would have expected for a smaller club like them to make better of native talent (like Burnley F.C. do more than most Premier League teams) but I suppose football has changed now. I really can not see any first-team future for Martin Ødegaard, he could be the next Freddy Adu, but his £80,000 a week will make him the most popular kid on the playground. I just had another look at Burnley's squad. Their entire team is anglophone (Ashley Barnes is quite blatantly from his name nowhere near as "Austrian" as Arnold Schwarzenegger). 1999–2000 Primeira Liga

Hi Vasco!

You seem to have a lot of experience when it comes to Portuguese football, think you could help me fill in all the captains? Having made a personnel and kits section, I have managed to find information for managers, kit manufacturers and shirt sponsors (excluding Vitória de Setúbal), but I need help with the captains as I have only found five of them (Benfica, Boavista, Porto, Sporting CP and Vitória de Setúbal). Last week, I found a photograph of the 1999–2000 Marítimo squad.^[1] Unfortunately, none of them is wearing a captain's armband, so I can't tell who the captain is, perhaps you know? I have also managed to find a video, a league match between Sporting CP and Marítimo (highlights).^[2] Since you understand Portuguese, do you have any knowledge if the commentator ever mentions who the captain for Marítimo is? I tried to determine myself by looking at the video, but I'm not fluent in the language and I couldn't either tell which player was wearing the armband since the quality is poor. Hello. Please would you not remove inline sourcing from career stats tables (club ones, anyway: the national team ones shouldn't generally need it), as you did at João Pereira (Portuguese footballer). We're recommended at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players#Career statistics style guide to source each row individually. Please look at the edit history of João Pereira (Portuguese footballer). The last person to edit before yourself was me, and I edited to correct another editor's mistake. I really don't appreciate your repeated implications that I'm in some way stalking your edits. Please remember than in this case it was you who was editing against WP:FOOTY guidelines and abusing the edit summary. I'm not wasting my time explaining yet again what sources are for.

You certainly did use the word "stalking", although you said you wouldn't: I am not going to use the word "stalking" because it would be unfair to you and a downright lie, but I feel my edits are still under great scrutiny. Surprised you didn't spot it on my talk page when you were there.

Sources: We put a source next to the information it verifies so that 1) anyone updating can readily see where they're supposed to check the figures before changing them without having to pick through a string of links at the top of the table; and, much more important, so that 2) the reader can readily see where the information comes from without having to pick through a string of links at the top of the table.

Nafti: The article has used publisher not work for BBC Sport since 2009, so there was no reason for change; the newspaper parameter does the same as work, but using it for newspaper sources is clearer/more intuitive; and I didn't think your slight wording change about signing Herrera was an improvement.
