Hello, and thank you for your recent contribution. I appreciate the effort you made for our project, but unfortunately I had to undo your edit because I believe the article was better before you made that change. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. Thank you! CatcherStorm talk 03:12, 8 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

June 2018[edit]

Hello, I'm Oshwah. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to North East Lincolnshire Council election, 2012 seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 13:07, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

TSOTB[edit]

Why on earth do you persist on changing the spelling? Grangehilllover (talk) 21:34, 4 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Simply for the reason that I believe that my correction is precisely that - a correction. Having listened to how Abby Rakic-Platt pronounces the character's surname during a scene in Episode 12 of Series 3, I am of the belief it is most likely "Grice". "Grys" just seems like what a child with poor spelling entered on some site years ago, circa 2010 perhaps, or maybe someone's idea of an assumption from that time. After all, it was years after broadcast that people identified that Amber's surname was actually spelt "Hearst", as opposed to "Hurst", which people argued the toss over at the time but nobody denies it these days. The trouble is that nobody has absolute certainty on the grounds the credits of each episode just list "Michael", so perhaps an enquiry to the BBC would be the only way of finding out - sadly the chances of a reply from them are zilch. I know we might not totally agree, but I hope you understand my point of view on this. 86.19.130.219 (talk) 14:31, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've backed most surnames up with a source and the source, Buzzfeed, uses Grys. What's to say it' not? There are loads of surnames that are the same sound, but a different spelling e.g. Smith could be Smythe. Same with first names-take Chelsie Padley. I don't know how many people would go for that spelling having heard her name, with the obvious choice being "Chelsea". Grangehilllover (talk) 16:19, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect that the Buzzfeed contributor in question that wrote sourced the names by a quick 10 minutes on Google and I therefore wouldn't consider it totally accurate. My view on that comes from the fact that the spelling of Amber's surname in said Buzzfeed article is Hurst, whereas in the very first episode that said character appeared in (Series 2, Episode 5), Nathan can be seen holding up a file with her name on, and the spelling is Hearst. That is a definitive answer to that spelling, and shortly after time of writing, I will be correcting that where necessary on a variety of pages on this website. For a definitive answer that settles the Michael debacle, I think we can both agree that we really need to get someone that was in the show to confirm for us, or someone at the BBC, but your guess is as good as mine in regards to the likeliness of us getting that. Same goes for the whole Goven/Govern issue, with different sources using alternate ones etc. In many ways, it would've been so much easier if the TSOTB credits at the end of each episode listed each character's surnames. 86.19.130.219 (talk) 21:48, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
