NOTE: The speedy temps were deleted by me way back in the day from my talk. I thought it would only be fair if I copied them from an old diff and let you have easy access to them.

Speedy deletion of "Beiserdorf Inc"

A page you created, Beiserdorf Inc, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how it is important or significant, and thus why it should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for companies in particular.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thanks. — Insanity Incarnate 04:51, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of "Eucerin"

A page you created, Eucerin, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, organisation, or web content, but does not indicate why its subject is important or significant.

The reason the sections are blank is because the information in them was a copy violation of the Encyclopedia Brittanica(according to the edit summary). If you have any more vandalism related problems that you think should be brought to the attention of a user with rollback privileges, please go to my talk page. Response

In response to the edit on List of Calgary Transit bus routes, much of the content was long descriptions that were not particularly notable for Wikipedia (such as what kinds of buses were serving the routes, or detailed neighborhoods that these routes serve). The route list was also updated for the opening of Crowfoot Station. Guess I forgot to put this in the edit summary... kelvSYC (talk) 03:59, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Talkback

Hello, Airplaneman. You have new messages at Wikipedia:Huggle/Feedback.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Griffinofwales (talk) 03:17, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

You seem like an experienced user, and I applied for rollback with less than 1000 edits. I would go here, because I got my rollbacker status from him. Good luck! Griffinofwales (talk) 03:38, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
I see that you're a rollbacker now. Congratulations! If you need any help with Huggle, please contact me and I will explain it. Griffinofwales (talk) 01:43, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Users may remove warnings from their own talk pages

Hi there. I see you demanded that AJS2050 (talk · contribs) remove warnings from his or her talk page. Please review WP:BLANKING, which states, in part: "Policy does not prohibit users, including both registered and anonymous users, from removing comments from their own talk pages, although archiving is preferred. The removal of a warning is taken as evidence that the warning has been read by the user. Deleted warnings can still be found in the page history. Repeatedly restoring warnings does nothing but antagonize users, and can encourage further disruption; removal of template warnings is rarely an urgent or important matter, and it is often best to simply let the matter rest if other disruption stops." Thanks! If a response to my comment is necessary, please respond on this talk page. Tan | 39 20:13, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

The only things that users are not allowed to remove from their talk pages are active block notices. Griffinofwales (talk) 20:18, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
I see. Sorry! --Airplaneman (talk) 20:26, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Image on your user page

Hi Airplaneman! I'm sorry, but it seems like you have an image on your user page that is copyrighted: File:Lastolympian.gif. Because such use is usually not considered fair use, it is not allowed to have non-free images on user pages. I hope you understand. decltype (talk) 15:27, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I totally understand- so it can only be used in the article, is that right? Should I remove it? (I think the answer is "yea"). Thanks, Airplaneman (talk) 16:17, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Yes, and even in articles they can only be used sparingly. Their use has to meet all of the non-free content criteria. As you can see, #9 excludes user pages. Put simply, this decision was made by the Wikimedia Foundation, to avoid getting sued. So yeah, while I am in no position to "order" you to remove it, I think it'd be wise. Sorry for the inconvenience. decltype (talk) 18:20, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh, it's no problem. Thanks for warning me. I'll remove it straightaway.--Airplaneman (talk) 21:31, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

antisemitic rampage

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution.

Hi, when you revert vandalism please make sure you revert back to the good version so that other vandalism isn't left in the article. Thanks, ~ Ameliorate! 04:07, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

OK. I see. Sorry. I know this is a lame excuse, but it's not a lie; I remember being in a hurry that day. I'll be more careful next time! Thanks, Airplaneman (talk) 22:49, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

I tried to clean up Stefan Lysenko, which you had prodded. Perhaps we should take it to AfD. Bearian (talk) 21:44, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Yea, thanks so much! I just PRODded it because it was, I'm sorry to say, a piece of junk. Also, it was fishy that the user who created the article had the exact same article on a section on his talk page. See User:1blissing and the talk page (which you have already seen :)). I know how it feels to get an article deleted (I had 2 deleted way back when I was an inexperienced newbie Wikipedian :D). I don't see why we should take it to the AfD board. It looks fine. I just didn't know where to start with the former article- you've done a really nice job :). Well, I'll keep an eye on it. Nice to meet you! --Airplaneman (talk) 22:56, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Yes I got much of the format from your talk page (and other wikipedia users talk pages also)is that in violation of any copyright laws? I thought wikipedia was free content. The Count of Monte Cristo (talk) 00:20, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

I was just surprised because you didn't tell me. No biggie. Just, please read this again:

Oh dear, it looks like he's blocked... Airplaneman (talk) 12:57, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

MBP

It definitely works better; the article was already structured in a linear time flow to begin with. I don't know if emphasizing the date is completely necessary; I think MacWorld and WWDC and "Apple Special Event" are probably more in line with people's recollections as opposed to the actual dates. Emphasizing the event when the introduction occurred might work a bit better. Butterfly0fdoom (talk) 03:28, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

OK, so I should put something more on the lines of "WWDC 2009"?--Airplaneman (talk) 16:04, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I think something like that would work better than the date. Butterfly0fdoom (talk) 01:32, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
OK, I'm on it.--Airplaneman (talk) 01:45, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
So, err, what should I do about the notebook-oriented announcement? I am not sure that the heading would make sense as "notebook-oriented announcement". Any ideas?--Airplaneman (talk) 19:52, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

STATUS UPDATE

I've nitpicked out all of the errors. See User:Airplaneman/Sandbox. It is pretty streamlined now. Now all we have to do is reach a consensus on what to do with the notebook-oriented announcement heading.Airplaneman (talk) 17:47, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

I now think that the new revision is ready for integration. Please tell me what you think of it below. Thanks, Airplaneman (talk) 21:11, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
I think it works a lot better, especially moreso than the current arragement where it's being sorted by screen size (why?!?). Butterfly0fdoom(talk) 02:14, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
Should be fine, does Nja have any issues with it? Butterfly0fdoom (talk) 07:14, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your input on all this. Nja hasn't responded yet- I think he's busy. I guess I'll wait for his opinion before continuing with the integration.Airplaneman (talk) 14:19, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

OK, I was wrong. Nja did respond. I have followed his suggestion and tweaked the article likewise. Now, about the timeline-like part, where do you think I should go with that?Airplaneman (talk) 00:21, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Just stick with that, it's a more logical way of sorting the information; I'd say just implement it. Butterfly0fdoom (talk) 02:16, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
  • The excessive use of boldface is an issue generally, see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(text_formatting)#Boldface. I get the reasoning for bolding the models, ie to differentiate them without using proper section headings as Butterfly showed resistance, but it's still an issue. As for the chronological formatting rather than prose, the latter is preferred. Here's an example of what I think would flow better and resolve the excessive use of boldface issue:
MacBook Pro 15"
On October 14, 2008, at a notebook-oriented event at Apple's headquarters, a new unibody 15" MacBook Pro was announced.
MacBook Pro 17"
At the MacWorld Expo keynote on January 6, 2009, Phil Schiller announced a 17" MacBook Pro with unibody construction.
MacBook Pro 13"
At Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8, 2009, it was announced that the 13" unibody MacBook would be upgraded and rebranded as a Macbook Pro...

Yes, I see. It is a great idea. I'll implement it ASAP. Airplaneman (talk) 03:12, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

That just goes back to the "sorting by model" system. After this point in time, it's unlikely that we're going to see model-specific updates. Hence I felt a timeline-priority method of sorting the information is better. The new fix is what what originally there, but with the models bolded instead of made into subheaders.Butterfly0fdoom (talk) 05:07, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
It's sorted by model either way, but in the previous revision it wasn't in prose (it was told in chronological story-like fashion), meaning it's not presented as an article in encyclopaedia and boldface was used incorrectly. I think at this point if you're still having trouble with it and WP:MOS, then it may be a good idea to seek a WP:3Oto get outside commentary on this. Nja247 08:50, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
I've spent the past few days pondering the situation, and I can see where this is going. I have decided that the best thing to do is ask for a fourth opinion. I'm asking for help on WP:3O after finishing this message up and posting talkbacks on your pages. Regards, Airplaneman talk 03:57, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
Oops, looks like the rules state that if only 2 editors are involved. How about 2 sides? I'm kind of sidelined by this. I like the headers but prefer the timeline. Ugh! I'm torn. Can I still go ahead and ask for a third opinion on a two-sided dispute? Airplaneman talk 04:02, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

OK, if I post on the WP:3O page, here are some things I would like to post along with it:

  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3AAirplaneman%2FSandbox&diff=303666889&oldid=303439184
  2. This current thread
  3. This dispute

Any others? Airplaneman talk 04:18, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Two sides I think would be fine, as you and I essentially think it should be the same. The issue is with non-prose chronological paragraphs was WP:MOS and the way boldface was being used was incorrectly. I've been watching this page, so I'll keep up to date. Nja247 08:52, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Resolved. See here for details. Airplaneman talk 17:08, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Oh, about the link- it's not opening up (blank page). I'm using Google Chrome; does that have something to do with it?--Airplaneman (talk) 14:42, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Questions

You told me I could ask questions, so here goes! I started a sandbox, but is there some way to put the article under a section, like the new section option on talk pages? If not, how do I add a contents box? I'm just look for some way to separate my greeting from the actual article. Also, how do I access my sandbox? It's not showing up in my toolbar, so do I have to click a link every time? Thanks for the help! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 14:56, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Here, try this: Click on the edit button on the right hand side of the heading (Romance). Highlight all of the text; then you can then copy the raw format of the section into your sandbox (I guess you'll be replacing the stuff you already copied in for this new version). That way, you can access all of the formatting that was originally in the section. The wiki page automatically adds a contents box for a page with sections that is bigger than the screen (from my own personal experience). I have no idea how to create one and I doubt you can manually do it :(. It would be nice if we could, though :). As for the sandbox access, I'm bummed that there is no link in the toolbar for it. I'm not sure that it's possible to make one, but I may be wrong. Hmmm... I would try to bookmark it or something. Or, you can put the link in a place where you can access it easily, like your userpage. That is where I have mine. It is quite cumbersome, but I'm not aware of any alternatives. I hate saying that I don't know, so here is a person that I trust. His name's Juliancolton. He is more seasoned than me. Please vote in his RFB (Request for bureaucratship)! Anyway, back to the topic. I guess you'll have to click on the link every time or bookmark it :(. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Happy editing! Airplaneman (talk) 16:12, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
That worked! Thanks! I'm going to rewrite most of my userpage, so I may add a link to my sandbox on there. So now, more questions! How do you do the userboxes? I have a few that I've seen the formats for, but I'm not sure about all the others. Is there some place where I could just look through all of them? As an extension of that, how did you create the separate page with your userboxes? Also, how do you use the talkback thing? I think it's incredibly useful! BTW, I did go vote for JulianColton. He sounds like he knows what he's doing. Thanks for helping! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 20:06, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
So sorry, extremely busy. Will come with a tutorial soon :). Cheers, Airplaneman (talk) 21:42, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for telling me! Just as a note, I was reading the History on PJ's character page and Book 3 doesn't seem to flow too well. I'm not sure if you're the one who condensed it, but I don't feel qualified to change much, since I haven't read the book but once. I changed a little, but it could still be improved. Thanks!PrincessofLlyr (talk) 13:41, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Here's How

Since I've got some time, I thought I'd like to get started. (How do you feel about me putting talkback templates on your page every time I update?)
Userboxes: The basic format is to put {{userboxtop}}, then your userboxes, then {{userboxbottom}} on your page. For more, see Wikipedia:Userboxes, where you can see a whole collection of them (thousands!). Now, you want to know how I got the templates to show up in their raw form and not in userbox form? Seehere. Sorry, got to go. More coming!--Airplaneman (talk) 03:35, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Err... One quick note: Your vote for Julian didn't get through! (At least I didn't see it). Since you are supporting him, please gohere, click on the "edit" button on the top right, go to the bottom of the section, and look at what others have done. I apoligize for the quick comment, but I'm really busy :(. BUT: feel free to ask away. I'm checking my account every day. (hey, that rhymes!). Regards,Airplaneman (talk) 04:14, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Talkback templates and much much more: I've run into an hour or so of free time, so I'm here to finish answering your questions. For the talkback temps and lots more gadgets to tag pages and spell check and even welcoming users, use Friendly, Twinkle, and here for the spell checker. Add them by going to "my preferences" and the tab "gadgets". Check off what you want. I also personally like the integrated text editor, wikiEd, but somehow it's not working now... (I'm doing this off the top of my head, and I'm 99% sure this is correct, but it might be slightly different.) Don't worry if Google Chrome is not stated in the "supported" list, for it works fine here on mine. I dunno about other browsers. As for the PJ article (The Titan's Curse, right?), I'll definitely take a look, and if I have time, I'll smooth it out. See you around Wikipedia, and if you have any more questions, ask away! Happy editing! Airplaneman (talk) 17:18, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks so much! I voted again for Juliancolton; not sure why that didn't go in before! I'll play around with userboxes, talkback, etc. when I have time, but thanks for the tutorial. Actually, it was the Titan's Curse section in PJ's character page. Literally listed as Book 3. Oh, and talkback templates on my page are fine. I just delete the old ones and the current one gives me a quick link to your page. Thanks again! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 01:05, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
PS - if you get a moment, I rewrote the section about Calypso in my sandbox, so you could drop in and tell me what you think. But only if you're not busy! Oh, and totally ignore what I said about Titan's Curse. Did someone just remove the entire history section? PrincessofLlyr (talk) 01:39, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Glad to get your questions answered! Any more, just come right here. Yea, the history section was removed per my suggestion at the talk page by PMlineditor. The info was redundant. Can you please take a look at my sandbox and compare it to this? What do you think? For the discussion, see here and here. Thanks, Airplaneman (talk) 15:28, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
I think removing the history section was a great idea! It just didn't show up on my watchlist, so I was wondering if I'd lost my mind when I couldn't find the section I'd told you needed work! I looked at your sandbox, but I'll warn you, I know absolutely nothing about computers! With that said, your revisions look fine. I think it streamlines discussion of the developement. But like I said, I don't know anything about it! Oh, and I posted a response under Calypso on my talk. I don't have talkbacks set up yet! I'm not entirely sure they'll work on my computer. Thanks! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 19:20, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
What browser do you use? The pages that describe Friendly and Twinkle should let you know which ones are compatible. I use Google Chrome and the tools work 99% of the time. Otherwise, I reload the page and that's fixed. OK, glad to know the MacBook Pro article section flows better! I'm aiming to integrate it in the coming weeks. I'll take a look at the Calypso comment. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask! Airplaneman (talk) 19:00, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
I posted a response on my talk. Right now I'll just get by without talkback templates. Also, quick favor, could you look by the discussion I was having with Pmlinediter? Romance section on his talk. I would love to get your opinionon that! Thanks! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 23:44, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
Done. Airplanemantalk 23:22, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

What do you mean it is not referenced? Aren't the official websites of Verkhovna Rada and IMEXBANK reliable enough? The fact that everything is in Russian it is a diffrent subject, I believe. I can assure you that the translation of his biography is quite pricise. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 16:57, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Sorry! I just don't count external links as references. I thought they were more in the line of "further reading". Please don't get upset (at least you sound so). I can just remove the tag- the article just did not have any references from my point of view. Maybe you could add a "references" section to the end of the article and make the external links also inline citations.Airplaneman (talk) 21:56, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
As for the translation, it's OK. I tried to clean it up here without altering the facts. Please tell me how I did. As for the tags, i do think big fat boxes with "this article has many problems" are annoying. I was not the one who added them. I like to keep an article neat and clean :). When I tag articles, I only do so after reading through them and trying to see what I can do for them. Thanks, Airplaneman(talk) 22:11, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Oh, no, do not get me wrong there, I was just wondering. I do not care about that box. There were a lot of facts about that guy. And I spent some time translating them to bring them as close as possible for others to comprehend. Even in Russian a lot of this stuff is confusing. I thought it be good idea to inform others who deals cards, figuratively speaking, today in Ukraine. Most of the businesses in Ukraine is controled by those people like Klimov, ironically, it was like that in Soviet times and when there was the Russian empire. Plus he is the director of some important bank. Thank you, for your input. I agree that the page needs to be rearranged for a quick-glance understanding. Hi Airplaneman

Hi Airplaneman,

No idea if I am posting the right place...I hope so. Thanks for reaching out, I am new to posting here but very excited to be on board. Any and all advice is welcome.

Someone has suggested I post my terms in the outsourcing section...still trying to figure that out as well. Could you help me with that?

Thanks,

Hello! To start, please sign your name at the end of each post by typing four of these: ~ (tildes). Wikipedia then autosigns for you, putting a link to your user page and talk page. Yes, post the terms you introduced into the article outsourcing. Just start a new section and name it "terms" or "types of outsourcing" or something. Here, like this:

Types of outsourcing

(term 1)

(term 2)

(term 3)

and so on. Any other questions? I'll be happy to help :). Oh, and don't forget to take advantage of the links in the welcome section of your talk page. Happy editing!Airplaneman talk 23:51, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

I've just declined your speedy deletion tag on the above-captioned article; the article definitely needs clean-up and citations, but there's enough notability asserted in the publications, editorships and his having won a Lasker Award for me to have declined it. You are, of course, welcome to use a PROD tag or take the article through anarticles for deletion process if you wish. My apologies for having second-guessed you; if you have any questions or problems, I'm at your service. Accounting4Taste:talk 01:31, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

That's alright. I just saw the article with no refs and looked at the contributor and well, I thought some random person had posted their resume on here. I didn't do a Google search because 99% of the time, articles like this would have qualified for CSD. I really appreciate your taking the time to let me know. Not everybody does that when they do something that might upset me (of course this did not). I'll help with the cleanup process- I LOVE article building!!! Now that I look at it from your point of view, I see that this article is indeed worthy of keeping. Well, I'll start the cleanup. Regards, Airplaneman talk02:08, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your note. I certainly agree, it was a total randomized mess, the username looked like someone was posting their own resume, and I think it takes some specialized knowledge to know just what a Lasker Award is; it was just dumb luck that I could pick that one word out of what looked like a text dump, so it was very easy toassume good faith. As far as letting you know, well, I would always wonder why people had declined my speedy tags when that happened, and wished that people would fill me in on their reasoning so that I could do a better job, so I try to do that whenever I can -- 99.9% of the time, the tagger is working in good faith, just overlooked something or just plain didn't know what they were seeing.
Hehe, you forgot to sign your post ^^. :) I agree 100%. I certainly did not know what I was seeing; I admit to never even hearing about a Lasker Award. I'll keep trying to wikify the article. Well, see you around Wikipedia! Airplaneman talk 03:16, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion tag on Gentleman & The Far East Band Live

I removed this speedy deletion tag for two reasons - a) we have an article on one of the artists and so this was stretching the A9 criteria quite far as A9 only applies when we don't have an article on the artist and b) according to that article this albulm charted and so is quite likely to meet our notabality guidelines. If you still believe this page should be deleted I suggest you take it to WP:AfD. Dpmuk (talk) 10:02, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

OK. I just thought that, since the Far East Band did not have an article, their song was not fit for an article, either. I'm happy to leave the article intact; I just want to keep this encyclopedia free of unneeded articles, that's all. Regards, Airplaneman talk 20:12, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
I admit it's an odd situation which isn't really covered by the A9 criteria and I was willing to let the speedy tag stay until I saw that it had apparently charted.Dpmuk (talk) 20:31, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes, definitely. Regards, Airplaneman talk 03:30, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

CSD notice

Original title: Speedy deletion nomination of User talk:Danielcarter131

Hello. I know how I got this; I created his talk page to notify him about the advertisement he submitted to Wikipedia. Of course, he removed my notice and replaced it with advertising. Ummm, can I copy this into his talk? I'll keep this up here for the record, but anybody who reads this, note that this is his talk page being considered for deletion. Airplaneman talk 15:32, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Yup, sorry, that was Twinkle's doing. He's been notified. Sorry about the bother, you can delete this if you'd like. Regards, Vicenarian (Said · Done) 15:34, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
OK, I'm removing the notice & keeping the discussion so people who are curious can have easy access. Airplaneman talk15:38, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

New to Wikipedia

I am new to wikipedia. I just posted an article about MyOlive a new ERP solution used by close to 500 businesses worldwide. We wanted to be documented by wikipedia under ERP, CRM and project management, as with other products. What is the best way to do this? I posted an article and it was immediately deleted. before I could tag and link them. I need help. Could you also possibly retrieve the deleted article or send me a copy, it would save me a lot of time.

Sorry, I can't. I am not an administrator. Welcome to Wikipedia, though! Airplanemantalk 18:03, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
