Warriors

This new section means you can archive the old one.

I was litsening to the radio, and this guy called Jaron Lanier was being interviewed by the CBC, and he talks about the Web 2.0 or something, and then he mentions "the Wikipedia". And you know what? He called it the "world's most boring book" to read! I just found it funny that he kept calling it "the Wikipedia". Brambleclawx 21:02, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Yea, I wonder why... I totally disagree with him. Wikipedia is probably the reason I made my school Quiz Bowl team. I find all of the random facts on this site fascinating. (I know what you are probably thinking... :D)
I stumbled upon Wikipedia as an IP in the very early 2000s when I was still a kid. I remember my first edit (as an IP): to the show Cyberchase, which I was a fan of at the time. It was reverted. I came back a few years later with an account to try to make articles for the lotion brands I saw around my house. They were deleted; to boot, I misspelled one of the titles... my first constructive edits were to Joe Sutter after reading his autobiography. I took a one year break, and after reading The City of Ember in April 2009, found out in what dismal shape the article on it was. I edited... and edited... :) I can't believe I'll have been on Wikipedia more than two years!
What do you think about me starting a newsletter for the Percy Jackson Task Force? Airplaneman talk 21:16, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

That sounds like a great idea! Although personally, I find newsletters like the signpost annoying cuz it clutters up my watchlist, as well as peoples' talkpages. XD

My wiki history: First discovered it about 2006-ish (also when I first started Warriors), and I totally loved it. It seemed to have information on everything (which is obviously not true now, since I've started looking up ever more obscure things like reciprocating heat dissipators). I never edited... not sure why... Then in October, I got really bored, so I decided to join. And the first thing I found out: Wikipedia's Warriors articles/project was practically dead. It was kind of depressing, so then I got to trying to do it all by myself. Then obviously, you came along! Brambleclawx 21:30, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

That made me smile! I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to keep up with my current activity level the next few years, though, as college is looming closer... I might as well enjoy my free time while I have it :). Airplaneman talk 21:41, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

True. and I'm in for a lot of homework, cuz that's what people tell me about the IB program: lots and lots of homework, as well as tons of community hours XD. But I won't be able to stay away from wiki... i'd probably need the break enforcer to do that. Brambleclawx 21:47, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

LOL, same here, unless I mysteriously lose interest (I don't see that happening anytime soon). Airplaneman talk 21:51, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

I was reading the pages about IB program just now, and I suddenly thought: "what if I wrote about Warriors for my Extended essay? LOL Brambleclawx 21:53, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

...or Wikipedia :D. Airplaneman talk 22:08, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

I was reading the Percy Jackson article. Does he really have ADHD and dyslexia, or is that vandalism? And I don't think its a good idea to say: Percy can do this... Percy can do that... Percy can also do this... etc. Brambleclawx 23:30, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Yea, he does have it. I know that his powers are stated in not the best way, but they do play an important role in the series. I can't think of a better place to put them at the moment; how about you? BTW, I don't think the Warriors Contest will be worth the effort, as there are so few contributors... what do you think? Airplaneman talk 23:38, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

The contest might not work. Anyways, I meant that maybe you don't need to use his name for eveyr bullet point. as for Talkback, I've permanently watchlisted you, unless you reitre or something (not anytime soon i hope), so I probably don't need them.

wow it took me twice as long as usual to type out this response... I do hope I haven't broken my finger Brambleclawx 23:43, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Yea, I think the to do list should give some (enough, I hope) motivation. I'll take a look at Percy's article. Hope your thumb feels better! Airplaneman talk 23:48, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

LOL it was my index finger. My friend was complaining that the actors were too old. Annabeth is suppsoed to be... what? 12/13? and the actor is like, 23. Brambleclawx 03:00, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Oh, I see. I broke my pinky two years ago. Couldn't play violin and missed orchestra auditions and everything... had to relegate to third violin and listen to some horrible screeching... anyway, I agree that the movie probably isn't as good as the book. It's reception was pretty negative. I'm not going to see it :). Thanks for your help on PJ articles! Airplaneman talk 03:02, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

No problem. Seems to be only a sprain... so I'll be fine. Brambleclawx 00:07, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

For each Warriors book article, we need to add a small paragraph on the sequel. The Lightning Thief contains a good example. Airplaneman talk 00:49, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm also categorizing all Warriors book covers using {{Children'sLiteratureWikiProject|class=Image}}{{WPWarriors|class=Image}}. Airplaneman talk 00:52, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Done categorizing. Airplaneman talk 01:02, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

I'll try to get that, but right now, I'm mostly focusing on getting Warriors (novel series) to GA. Brambleclawx 01:16, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

I know this sounds weird, but I'm giving my bass clarinet a name (as in a name like joe, or anne, or bob). Any suggestions? (it can be a guy's name or a girl's name) Brambleclawx 02:11, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
It's not weird (at least I don't think so). I named my violin after its maker, Georges Michel, and my bow after the place where my violin was made (Mirecourt, which is in France). So my suggestion: name it after its maker. Other suggestions: bassie, clarinet-o, or Clary the transpositional (your instrument transposes, right?) Airplaneman talk 02:22, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Cool. I'll add that to my list. My list currently includes: Annabeth (yes, the name made a huge impression on me (it sounds cool)), Catrina (see the word cat in it?), taylor, viktor, and Isaac. =) Brambleclawx 02:43, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I tagged Pinehapple for CSD-A1, but I don't know what template to warn the user with. could you do this for me? Thanks Brambleclawx 03:14, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Will look into it. Airplaneman talk 03:16, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Your friendly talk page stalker took care of it. : ) Brambleclawx, the template is listed on the bottom of the csd tag. It's {{subst:empty-warn|Pinehapple|header=1}} ~~~~. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:18, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Oops XD. Brambleclawx 03:19, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

LOL, PrincessofLlyr did it :D. For future reference: it suggests the template to give at the bottom of the CSD template. Airplaneman talk 03:20, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Also, if you use Twinkle it will post the notification automatically! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:26, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Just for next time: welcome the user (Friendly is a nice tool for that) when warning them. TW also does this automatically. Airplaneman talk 03:30, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, that would prolly be the reason why I forgot! I'm so spoiled! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:31, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict)On a side note: I'm jealous of Windows users, who get to Huggle away... HG is not worth using on OSX :(. That's the only con about Macs... Airplaneman talk 03:33, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
In regard to welcomes, is your welcome template set up just for you? What are the chances that I could use it too? Maybe make a template with my name, but the same basic format? Oh, and I love Huggle! Is that rubbing it in you face? I'm sorry! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:35, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm fine w/o HG :). I'll stick to my good old watchlist, which keeps me busy enough with almost 4000 pages watched (:O I need to get rid of some.) I use my welcome template (User:Airplaneman/W) by typing in {{subst:user:Airplaneman/W}}. It was tedious at first, but I got good at it... of course you can use it (anyone can, really). I might need to tweak it a bit; I'll check it out. Airplaneman talk 03:42, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Yea, if you use it, it'll say your name's Airplaneman :D. I'll fix it. Airplaneman talk 03:43, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
I figured. Thanks! 4000?!?!?! I try to keep mine between 100 and 150. No wonder you stay so busy! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:45, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Hey, guess what? I found out about Igloo. It's a huggle I can use! I don't feel left out anymore! :D Airplaneman talk 23:58, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
How neat! Now I'll get on and watch you beat me to reverts! BTW, I'm gonna be off most of the weekend, so if I don't reply quickly, I'm not ignoring anything. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 05:03, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Airplaneman, you welcomed this guy, and his talk page seems very chaotic. He even placed a banned template on a user's talk when they weren't even blocked, along with a level 4 uw-vandalism for changing a date on a page. I guess every so often, you're going to come across something really weird on Wikipedia like this, huh? Brambleclawx 21:01, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Yea, weird... if it keeps up, an ANI post might be needed. Airplaneman talk 21:24, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and I'm reading The Fourth Apprentice (Warriors) right now (halfway through). Should finish tonight. I will push to get it to GA status in the next few weeks. Airplaneman talk 21:31, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

I don't think ANI will be necessary, but thanks for the link. Now I know where to look. Wow... you;re going to push the article from stub-to GA class? That would be awesome! Brambleclawx 21:37, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Cool. Yea, it'll take a while, but it's fun (I like writing). The only obstacle is finding enough on critical reception and stuff. Airplaneman talk 21:41, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Yeah... that's always hard. Brambleclawx 21:44, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

igloo

Hi Airplaneman, and thanks for your interest in igloo. Before using the program, please read the following information carefully - failure to do so may result in your test access being revoked.

igloo is a JavaScript-powered, browser-based anti-vandalism tool, which means you do not have to download or install anything on your computer and it will work on multiple operating systems. However, it does mean that the performance relies on that of your browser and it may operate more slowly than downloaded programs. You must have either Mozilla Firefox 3+ or Google Chrome to use igloo, as it is currently incompatible with other browsers.

igloo relies on a system called iglooNet to assist you in finding and reverting vandalism. It is this system that transforms the program from a pretty version of recent changes to an actual anti-vandalism tool. Naturally, this is beyond the power of a client-side program, and igloo will regularly communicate with an external, non-Wikimedia server. Because of things like server logs, and the iglooNet abuse tracker, this may allow your IP address to be attached to your username - something which is otherwise impossible on Wikipedia. If you do not want this to happen, you MUST NOT USE IGLOO.

If you decide that you do want to test igloo, please keep in mind that it not wholly stable, and you may experience problems where it performs an invalid edit, or other unwanted action. If this happens, fix any mistakes you've made, apologise to anyone you've offended, and let me know. I don't take any responsibility for your use of the program - if you aren't willing to fix any errors, don't use it.

igloo is already quite powerful. The following is a simple guide to using the program:

  • The igloo interface is similar to that of other software, including huggle. Recent changes appear on the left, and diffs appear on the right.
  • igloo sorts diffs based on iglooNet data so that edits most likely to be vandalism are displayed first. You can press spacebar to view the top diff, or click on any diff to view it directly.
  • When you find vandalism, press 'Q' or click the revert button to revert the change, and issue a warning to the user. igloo automatically issues the correct warning. It will ignore existing warnings that are more than 5 days old, and restart from the beginning.
  • The iglooNet assertion system tags clean and dirty edits with colour coding - if it suspects an edit is vandalism, it will be flagged as red, and if it believes it to be clean, it will tag it green.
  • At any time, you can re-review diffs you have already seen by pressing backspace or using the icons to move through the diff history.

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions or other feedback, I'd love to know. If you hate it, and won't be using it again, please let me know why - and I'll remove you from the test whitelist. If you now try and use igloo, you should find that it will allow you to use the program. Thanks, and good luck! Ale_Jrbtalk 10:39, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll give it a run soon! Airplaneman talk 17:42, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

The groups for round two will be placed up shortly, and the submissions' pages will be blanked. This round will continue until 28 April, when the top two users from each group, as well as 16 wildcards, will progress to round three. Please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup; thank you to all doing this last round, and particularly to those helping at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, by email or on IRC. Good luck! I would love to! --41.238.170.204 (talk) 10:47, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

OK, here are the tools/privileges I have to help me spot and deal with vandals:
  1. Rollback, which lets me undo vandals' edits with one click
  2. Twinkle, a multipurpose tool which helps in many editing areas, including vandalism
  3. igloo, which is a program that lets me filter through edits and spot vandals; it also warns them
I use many other tools to assist me in everyday editing, but these are the ones which I use to deal with vandals. I spotted your edits on the igloo program; it's an intelligent one. Once I revert you once, it flags your edits as "probable vandalism", allowing for easier vandal spotting :). Airplaneman talk 22:05, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks.

I appreciate you adding the Global Conquest page entry to the disambiguation section, since that was the only reason I was changing the Global conquest (Note the lower case "c") page, since not capitalizing the c in Conquest would result in the user skipping right over the already existent entry for the game, most likely leading them to conclude that there was no entry. Thanks again.

Hello. RE: Editting.

Hi, I recieved your message RE: my edit to Roger Gibbins. I was actually trying to revert Vandalism. Somebody had put in a comment about "even the crap ones like him", and when I looked into the Edit History, I saw it had been editted at least every 2 minutes for quite some time, and so reverted it to the last entry before this string of edits (which appeared completely free of vandalism).

I'd appreciate if you could just check my edit (so you know I'm not a vandal!!!) and tell me how I could've/should've done it better.

Thank you for the help, SmokingNewton (talk) 00:15, 3 March 2010 (UTC).

My edit was not vandalism and I was simply restoring the page to what it has been for months after the information was removed. Believe it or not, Mellencamp actually used the name "Little Bastard" as an alias to produce his albums for a period of about 10 years. So it certainly belongs in also known as. Your Welcome! — Nascar1996 01:40, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Where I see that you are a NASCAR fan I recommend you to join WikiProject NASCAR. — Nascar1996 01:51, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Are you planning to join? Most NASCAR articles need major expanding and they need to be organized better. — Nascar1996 19:10, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
I'll join. I'll try to eliminate all unassessed NASCAR articles and copyedit as much as possible. Airplaneman talk 19:22, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Okay.Could you please tell me (if you know) what type of infobox a NASCAR crew chief needs? — Nascar1996 20:35, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
I would think {{Infobox Person}}. Look at other crew chief articles and see what they have. Airplaneman talk 20:39, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Okay, Thank You for telling me about that where Im not notible to edit infoboxes.I'm going to put a infobox on Chad Knaus which is a B class article for now.I want to edit it to help it become a great article. — Nascar1996 20:43, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

What you need on his article is more references (and an infobox :D). Airplaneman talk 20:45, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Could you put citiations needed on the parts where references need to go? — Nascar1996 21:17, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Yea, will take a look. If you haven't already, install WP:REFTOOLS in the Gadgets section of "my preferences". They give you a form to fill out so you can cite sources easier and better. It also lets you name refs, so you don't have to cite the ref fully over and over again, instead just giving the name of it when you cite it multiple times. Airplaneman talk 21:23, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I installed the WP:REFTOOLS. — Nascar1996 21:36, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
You was right about WP:REFTOOLS, it is a whole lot easier that the old fashioned way.--Nascar1996 04:12, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

I am trying to use huggle but when I try to login is says to "check user config. page". What is that? Nascar1996 03:23, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

I think it's referring to User:Nascar1996/huggle.css. I'm not a Huggle expert, so if you still can't figure out the problem, I suggest you report it at Wikipedia:Huggle/Feedback. Go pwn those valdals ;) Airplaneman talk 03:30, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
I'll do some more searching around, but I couldn't find anything that describes the technicalities of a NASCAR race. Can you? If not, I'd be happy to write one, but will need your help (I don't follow NASCAR too closely; I'm just a loose fan). You see, I couldn't find a mention of the Happy Hour anywhere. It's the final practice, right? Airplaneman talk 03:49, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Hey, it'd be awesome if you could do this for every race this season :). I'll help. Airplaneman talk 04:01, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
I fixed huggle (it's awesome)as in very helpful). I find stats like the results and the lap by lap on NASCAR.com or foxsports.com. I am also planning to make a page for every 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race; I am a huge fan of NASCAR. Normally I can watch up to 12 hrs or more NASCAR racing each week (If you wanted to know there is not a race this weekend). I am also sorry about your unsuccessful Rfa. --Nascar1996 01:59, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
That's great! I can help with each article. Just give me a link :). As for the RFA, there's always next time ;). Airplaneman talk 03:24, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I will tell you when I make another. I have the next race page already created (2010 Food City 500). --Nascar1996 21:32, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

May I ask, but what is igloo ? --Nascar1996 00:49, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
In short, it's like Huggle but works on any operating system. See WP:igloo. Airplaneman talk 00:54, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Ok.Thank You for telling me. --Nascar1996 02:20, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Good Job on that edit [1] to the article Jimmie Johnson. The parts 2001-2005 and 2006-2010 I completely wrote from season to season that hurt the article. --Nascar1996 02:27, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I looked in the history; why did you condense it so much from before? It's a bit choppy. Could we restore the old version? Airplaneman talk 02:36, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Many admins said that the article should not have many paragraghs from one part of his career to another (in which I did change it). This was happening when I want to improve the article then I gave up on it. I still edit it today, but not as much. I am working to find notable crashes and more stats but I couldn't find any. --Nascar1996 02:41, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

If you believe the old version was better then sure. --Nascar1996 02:42, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
You mean should not have? Airplaneman talk 02:42, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

That'd be nice. Then I could switch over, assuming all of my other scripts work with it as well... how is Vector? I've tried it, but have never really gotten used to it. Airplaneman talk 03:38, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
The vector skin works very nicely. It is a huge improvement over the monobook skin. The monobook interface is very cluttered. The vector interface is very clean and simple. A lot of scripts work. I've tested Twinkle, Friendly, Rollback, Dashes.js, and Advisor.js. They all work. I hope Igloo compatibility will be here soon. Pilotwings 64 GA nomination

Hello. Thank you for your interest in reviewing the Pilotwings 64 article. I have attempted to fix the only problem that you had regarding it passing the Good Article process. Adminship

Hello Airplaneman, it's me, NerdyScienceDude, again. I think you've got the skills to become an admin. Can I nominate you? —Preceding unsigned comment added by NerdyScienceDude (talkcontribs) :)

I've been pondering this question for 45 minutes now... yes. I'm really humbled :). To avoid WikiStress, please tell me when you create the RfA subpage; I'd like to answer all questions before it is made active. Thanks, Airplaneman talk 04:54, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
By the way, the userbox overload animation on your userpage tends to cause my browser to freeze up. I guess it's because Macs aren't efficient with Flash Player... Airplaneman talk 05:03, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
I have created the nomination page.
As far as my userpage goes, it doesn't crash my MacBook nor my iPhone. It sounds like you're in an odd situation. Take as much time as you need to answer the questions on the nomination page. Regards, NerdyScienceDude :) (✉ click to talkmy editssign) 05:56, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Actually, it's not Flash, it's an animated gif. While I do get seizures from looking at it, my browser seems to deal with it just fine. Oh, and best of luck with your RfA! I'll be away from Wikipedia for some time, but I'll try to get my comment in. Regards, decltype (talk) 15:10, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

How did I miss this overnight?!?!?! What are the rules about co-nomination? Because I would definitely second this nomination. Best of luck, PrincessofLlyr (talk) 14:57, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Well, I went ahead and co-nominated. It was too good to miss. However, thinking back to a few RfA's I've seen, you may get hassled about your age. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 15:26, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
That's alright with me. Now we just need Airplaneman to answer the three questions provided before we can open up his RfA to the community. NerdyScienceDude :) (✉ click to talkmy editssign) 15:32, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Good luck Airplaneman! I will support your nom.! Brambleclawx 18:30, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

About age: I'm a teenager... that's all you need to know :). Airplaneman talk 21:58, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm answering the questions before accepting, as it seems like accepting will make the RFA go live, but I do accept the nominations; thanks for the kind words. Airplaneman talk 22:07, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Once you have indicated your acception of the nomination, I will add it to the RFA page. NerdyScienceDude :) (✉ click to talkmy editssign) 22:44, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Sounds good, Dude. Airplaneman talk 22:59, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Just so you know, I don't really care about your age. I think I know approximately how old you are because I seem to remember seeing a userbox about it at some point, but that doesn't really matter. I do remember seeing an RfA (unfortunately can't remember which) where the user was opposed because he was a teenager. I hope that doesn't happen here! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 23:12, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Yea, I can remember that RFA (and an RFB) as well. I don't mean to brag, but I'm not known in the real world for my bad temper. Anyway, I'm accepting the RFA, so it's going live :)! Airplaneman talk 23:16, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
It's been transcluded. Airplaneman talk 23:36, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
You know, I really wouldn't be surprised if you were very friendly IRL. Some things like that can't be faked even online. I'm pretty similar online to the way I am in real life, but more sarcastic IRL. Anyway, I hope the RfA goes well. I can't imagine you not passing, and certainly it will be close if you don't! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 23:53, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! Maybe I'll go whack some vandals to get my mind off it :). Airplaneman talk 23:54, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Sounds like a good idea! I'm watching it obsessively and I'm not even the one running! Besides, I'm supposed to be doing research...that's the problem with being an editor - I can't ever just get on and do some reading. I end up finding something that needs fixing! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 23:56, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
LOL, same here! I come on to do background research (Wiki not accepted as official source where I go) and next thing you know... Airplaneman talk 23:59, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Why do they make us wait through 7 days of this? I'm not getting anything done! (And probably distracting you from useful editing now!) PrincessofLlyr (talk) 01:05, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
I think I'm going to take editing easy this week and focus on answering RFA questions. Airplaneman talk 01:08, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
We all have issues doing research here now, don't we. I was reading the article about copernicium for my science report, and I ended up correcting something or other on it. By the way for some fun reading: Dihydrogen Monoxide Hoax. Good luck! Brambleclawx 01:16, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Interesting, but fun? You like science too much! Are you going to vote in his RfA? PrincessofLlyr (talk) 01:21, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
I remember running into that, like, a year ago! Will take a look. Hey, I like science too. I think it's quite fascinating. Airplaneman talk 01:22, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
I happen to have science this semester, so I got distracted while doing research, and found this. The next day (yesterday), I went and got my friends to get people to sign a petition to ban DHMO, and we actually got about 20 people. It was pretty funny. Does Airplaneman or any of his stalkers think The Cup of Fury is PROd-able? I tried, and the author says its notable. Brambleclawx 01:25, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Wow! People are gullible. Nice vote, btw. I think the article is PROD-able. Not very many reliable Google hits. And an author will almost always think the subject is notable. Tell him (her) to find reliable sources. At the very least, it needs much wikifying. About science, I only like it when it relates to literature. I'm doing a science report on robots in relation to Isaac Asimov's stories! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 01:32, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

I personally like physics. Anyway, I actually think, after a quick Google (wow, it's a verb now), that The Cup of Fury is notable. It just needs major wikification. Airplaneman talk 01:34, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, were you regular googling? Cause everything I saw looked like blogs. However, after looking at the author's page, it might pass WP:NOTE. Now to clean it up! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 01:39, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
I usually stick to medicine... but physics is fun sometimes. Google discourages the use of Google as a verb, as does Photoshop. Did anyone see the vandalism on my user page a few days ago? I recorded it here. I had a good laugh about for a while. Brambleclawx 01:41, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
I got a laugh out of that too :). Thanks for the links; I didn't know that! Airplaneman talk 01:43, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I remember seeing that! Unfortunately, none of the vandals to my page were that creative! Have you guys seen the discussion about deleting the main page (at the RFA)? I found it funny for some reason! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 01:46, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
I haven't seen it. I'll look. BTW, The Cup of Fury was a total, blatant copy from http://www.uptonsinclair.net/the-cup-of-fury.html. Figures. Airplaneman talk 01:49, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
While you're at it, answer the new question. It might take some thought! And I'll see what I can do about The Cup of Fury, but now I'm off for supper. Maybe only half an hour or so! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 01:51, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Hmmm... yes it will. Airplaneman talk 01:54, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
I think you answered it well. Definitely was in keeping with everything I've seen you do. No opposes so far! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 02:12, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Well, I thought the answer was good. Fastily obviously didn't. See [2]. Fetchcomms too. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 02:20, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

You've got an opposer: he claims you tried to block him from Rfa... Brambleclawx 02:43, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, and another user doesn't like your answer to q4. But come to think of it, haven't you requested a block for a sockpuppet before without warning? You may need to do damage control on that one. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 02:58, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Yup. That pretty much bombed it :). Oh well; see my response to Fastily's comment above the "support" section. TBH, I was in a hurry to answer the question, but that's hard to believe now because it will look like I'm just asking for votes... Keepscases' oppose is pretty much holding grudges, and will most likely be discounted by the closing 'crat. In the case that my RFA should fail, I'd like to keep it open for the full seven days as a way to gain some useful insight to improve on my editing. Airplaneman talk 03:19, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Sounds like a good idea. I saw your response; it's hard for me to be neutral about that. I can understand what you were thinking, but not everyone will. I think the response to that will vary. I don't really know if you're allowed to change your answer, but I think you can put an obviously note below it explaining things. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:23, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Also, I would mostly discount the oppose from Keepscases. That's very obviously POV. I can't believe someone would vote because of something like that! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:19, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

You have a lot of supporters, but your opposers raise very strong points... I personally am not sure what the result will be. I personally really think that people should stop using the "block Jimbo" idea as a point of reference when talking about immaturity, since you weren't the one who typed it. I think a few jokes here and there won't hurt Wikipedia, especailly since this guy calls Wikipedia the world's most boring book to read. But maybe that opinion is just because I've only got 4 months of experience? Brambleclawx 01:39, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
I personally think I came into RFA unprepared. Nevertheless, I want it to go the full seven days. You see, I was thinking of signing up for editor review when I was offered the nom; I saw the chance to see if I could gain some tools to help the 'pedia more as well as gain useful insight on my editing. Already, good suggestions have been made on where I need to improve, and I'm taking those to heart; if I don't pass, I'll consider running again in July or late December, or even next year. I think the joke in the nom, which was short, was misinterpreted. Oh well. Airplaneman talk 02:53, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Yea, I think I'm going to withdraw tomorrow; the opposes raise valid points which I can improve on. The only thing I am not so sure about is the opposition to claiming credit for 3 GAs that had minor input on my part; as I pulled them to GA status and nominated them, I took credit. Otherwise, I'll just let it run for another day and see how it goes. Airplaneman talk 04:23, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

I agree. Your RfA doesn't look too good. Maybe you should withdraw, fix the issues that have been brought up in the opposes, and try again in a couple of months. NerdyScienceDude :) (✉ click to talkmy editssign) 04:56, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Whatever you think is best. I think we started you off badly with weak noms, mostly because of inexperience (on my part, at least). Still, I think you'll be ready for admin in not terribly long, and some of the opposition points do seem a bit nit-picky. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 04:59, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for trusting me enough to nominate, though! Usually, noms are longer, but I think it was just me. As I said, I'd be open to trying again later; the nit-picking, on the most part, will help me become a better editor. Airplaneman talk 05:03, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Keep in mind that this was my first RfA nomination. This is actually not my first rodeo with nominations. I've tried nominating Jimbo Wales for bureaucratship, but he declined. NerdyScienceDude :) (✉ click to talkmy editssign) 05:17, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
I know :). Thanks for nominating! If you would like to nominate someone else, try looking at some other RFA noms to see what they are like. BTW, I think Jimbo, as Founder, can make himself a 'crat if need be. Airplaneman talk 05:25, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
