According to I.T.E.C. Inc., an H-Dolly is a double axled version of the A-dolly and not of the C-Dolly. I.T.E.C. would do so according to North American usage and hence the customers or clients refer to it by the same term I.T.E.C. H-Dolly or tandem dolly and I.T.E.C. web site. We appear to to be at odds because you approach it from an Aussie point of view and I from a Canuck or Yankee point of view. There is "English" and there is "English". It's somewhat like the caboose and the brake fan on the rear end of the train. No hard feelings & I shall in due time look this up in a hard copy North American dictionary.

Hello again, I carefully looked again at I.T.E.C. H-Dolly or tandem dolly and I fail to see the two couplings in either one of the two dollies shown on that page. After two cataract operations (one in each eye) I have not needed any glasses, but maybe I should get some anyway. It appears as though I.T.E.C. Inc. happens to be the only N. American manufacturer of converter dollies, at least so far I failed to find any others. The only thing left is to sift thru the department of transportation web sites of all US states and all ministry of transportation web sites of all Canadian provinces an territories and see if any useful definition of an "H-Dolly" may be found in any one site. That's going to be a "monk's task" (un travail des moînes).

Add to that Fifth wheel coupling, Semi-trailer, Semi-trailer truck, Coupling (railway), Variable gauge axles, Automobile and many more which all have internal links to Wiki articles about manufacturers as well as links to manufacturers web sites. Reply to spammer email
To my utter lack of suprise, the webmaster of these two sites is a certain "rayme" (see this and this). No prizes for guessing who the blocked account belongs to... Anyway, "sources"? An amateur site talking about his town with "please please please advertise here" banners and a car-review site with only one entry? No-one knows about these sites except this "rayme" guy. Truck project
Hi! I see you're into something with knowledge of vehicles. I'll invite you to check the startup of a truck related project. Re Editing your talk page comments
Er, no. Although it is standard practice to strike out comments before emending, as you say, there also times when this is unnecessary and few wikipedia editors observe this. You can confirm this by checking the "diffs" on talk page; you will actually find this practice quite common. As for the comment on Bull Bar, I deleted the text because I never intended to say it in the first place; my original comment didn't represent my thoughts.
I could say: "I am a murderer" "I am not a murderer", or I could forgo the unnecessary step and delete my mistake and state what I originally intended.
Please don't leave that kind of message on my talk page; at best, it is pedantic; at worst, annoying and rude.Rintrah 03:41, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Revert of fuel efficiency
Hello,
Just wondering why you reverted my work of last Saturday on fuel efficiency. The values in the table (as I wrote in a comment in the text) were inconsistent. That is, someone apparently converted from BTU/gal to MJ/L or vice versa using an inaccurate conversion factor. I do not have access to the book referenced, so I looked at the on-line Transportation Energy Data Book and carefully copied the appropriate numbers to the table, and converted them to MJ/L and BTU/imperial gallon. I also added several that were not there before.
It seems to me that some of the numbers that were there were not very accurate. I compared them to both the on-line source mentioned above and to a graph in the Chemical Engineers' Handbook (Perry's Handbook), and for instance the value for diesel fuel was too high, in BTU/gal. I think all the numbers were too low in terms of MJ/L because of the bad conversion factor that had been used.
If you have density data, you could fill in the column in my version for MJ/kg, which would be helpful. You can also put in numbers for the rows I left blank, if you can check with the original source to see which value was correct (either the BTU/gal or the MJ/L). But I don't think it's appropriate to simply revert what I did without even so much as a comment as to why.

- I live in Cardiff. The photo of Cardiff station is mine too - I did it for the article about Cardiff. I also have some photos looking along the cycleway and overgrown Toronto line if they're of interest. Oh, yeah - also old remnant coal skip tracks on Great North Walk at Glenrock Lagoon. Oh, and I also got some photos of the railway bridge where the Ulan (Sandy Hollow) line crosses over the Bylong Valley Way yesterday. I might try to get a few more station photos to fill in the gaps around Morisset to Broadmeadow, and perhaps some along The Fernleigh Track, which is what the cycleway along the old Belmont line is now called. --Athol Mullen 15:21, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Infobox Australian Place
Hey, Sorry about making all those suburbs part of Sydney. I would just like to say also that logos to not belong on towns or suburbs (if it is the logo of the LGA that is). The LGA page is for that logo. (Also, fair use actually prevents us from using those logos on any page other than the article that the logo belongs to as such). About Tractor unit
I fixed "two or three axles" to "two or more axles". I see you reverted my edit, but I don't really agree. I've seen several tractor units with more than three axles, so I'd say the article is wrong when it says "two or three". Especially you, who live in Australia, should have a fair chance of seing units with four axles. You can even find them in the ext. links from road train or at Commons.
I also disagree on the second revert about "most" 3-ax having drive on both rear axles. I assume it's correct in some parts of the world, especially for trucks driving constroction materials, timber, or just many bad roads. Nevertheless, I don't think many paved-road-trucks have this, like European export trucks, distribution vehicles etc. The company I work for had one 4x6 and four 2x6 with Robson Drive out of 9 tractor units. (I suppose Robson Drive is a brand - I don't know if you're familiar with it, so I linked to a manufacturer with a photo). G®iffen 10:55, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- What I put in the article is "usually with a large diesel engine and two or three axles." Note the word usually. Compare this diff of what I previously put in the article and what it was changed to by someone else.
- "Most have 2 or more axles" is completely and utterly wrong. It's not possible for a truck to have only one axle. All trucks have 2 or more axles.
- I've seen trucks with up to 5 axles. They do exist. They are rarely used as prime movers (tractor units) and are instead mostly used for heavy rigid trucks.
- The vast majority of prime movers in Australia are 3-axle, even for road trains in excess of 100 tonnes. Allowing for the fact that some smaller prime movers here and in a lot of other countries are 2-axle, I believe that the statement as I put it is technically correct. Most have 2 or 3 axles. A very small number have more.
- The question of bogie drive versus single drive and lazy axle is also fairly clear cut in Australia. A lot of rigid trucks run lazy axles but, having seen literally thousands of trucks over the years, I haven't seen one prime mover with a lazy axle since I started in this line of work in 1994. They may exist but they are extremely rare. It may be different elsewhere in the world, but the trucks that I've seen are from North America, Japan and Europe and are the same types as used in those markets. --Athol Mullen 11:59, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- I see the point in "most" vs. a 1-axle truck, sorry. I just wanted to show that more than 3 axles was actually possible. My english is not perfect, so some bad spelling/phrasing might occur.
- In real life, I've seen one 5-ax tractor, carrying a huge crane and pulling a 5-ax heavy load semi. On pics I've seen several 5-ax dump trucks. More common in Denmark are 4-ax tractors used in construction, carrying a high reaching crane and a semi with products to be hoisted to the top of that building. Those would mostly have 2 front and 2 rear axles, the extra front axle primarily to carry the crane due to weight restrictions.
- I'll agree om the "usually two or three axles", but I'd like to change "Most three axle prime movers" to "Many three axle prime movers", if you don't mind. G®iffen 13:03, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Lazy axle
I assume that the "lazy axle" You refer to above is a third axle driven by a metal roll from the second axle? I've never heard what the english term is. G®iffen 13:03, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well, in Australia at least, that metal roller would be illegal. A lazy axle is simply a non-driven axle, like a trailer axle. It's lazy because it's carrying weight but not driving. I guess that's what they're using the metal rollers to drive. Note that the English version of the website with the rollers doesn't have them at all, so they may not exist outside one or two countries. --Athol Mullen 13:38, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- Glad I asked - some misunderstanding there.
- The metal roller is only used when You're stuck or when You expect to get stuck. For daily driving it's lifted so that the wheels can't reach it, even when driving tough terrain, but when necessary, the driver lowers it to some near the axle height. It does eat off some rubber when used, but it would still be cheaper than a tandem drive truck for the average truck owner.

Your edit to Talk:Propane
I noticed you removed several of my edits to the Talk page for this article. While I'm certain that some of this was in conformance with Wikipedia best practices, I am confused on several points. Most notably: if a section of a Talk page complains about an error in the main article which was resolved long ago (in this case, a mistaken "6.5 billion" instead of the long-corrected "6.5 million"), doesn't that section of the Talk page cease to be useful, and would best be removed? (Or at least notated with strikeout text?) The next individual hoping to improve the article will no doubt see the question (as I did), try to find the mistake it references, and be confused - or at least waste their time trying to find an error which no longer exists.
I know that I am new to Wikipedia editing and contribution, but this kind of nannyism puts somewhat of a damper on any desire I might have to contribute to or improve _any_ Wikipedia article in the future, lest some two-bit know-it-all (present company excluded, of course) undo all of my careful work on their whim of "the rules". As I see others below are concerned about the same issue regarding your reversions of their work, I ask you to consider: In what way does this contribute to the overall betterment of Wikipedia? I quote from the WP:UNDO article, which I very much suggest that you read:
"Do not revert good faith edits. In other words, try to consider the editor "on the other end." If what one is attempting is a positive contribution to Wikipedia, a revert of those contributions is inappropriate unless, and only unless, you as an editor possess firm, substantive, and objective proof to the contrary." Mere disagreement is not such proof. See also Wikipedia:Assume_good_faith."

Blackalls Park
Hi Athol, just noticed your comment about Blackalls Park station. The station does exist, albeit slightly overgrown - there is a small park where the station platform used to be. Hey Athol, in the advantages / disadvantages you seem to be mixing up a full trailer and a straight truck (rigid vehicle) i.e. a full trailer can be coupled and uncoupled just as quickly as a semi trailer. Maybe a full trailer is your terminology for a rigid / straight truck? as terminology is different in every part of the world. Your reversion in Drawbar (haulage)
You are perfectly correct. It is not a reference, which is why the heading for the section said 'Notes. It was a footnote, and used for something that was not appropriate for the main text the way that text is drafted currently.
I do not believe that this was a valid use of reversion, something we almost always reserve for vandalism. If the footnote did not meet with your editorial style it would have made much more sense to edit the text in order to include it, rather than a blanket reversion that removed it completely. Edits should be constructive.
On that basis, I am reinstating it. If this runs counter to you own style I suggest you edit it such that it will flow in the text rather than simply re-revert and remove the information again.

By letting the current produced in the car's alternator electrolyse water and merging the oxyhydrogen produced into the carburetor, miraculous gains in efficency and reduction in emissions can be achieved. - Thanks for giving this look. Being able to explicitely point out, that references are misquoted would be the final straw to make this collapse. hi my names Geoff Buchanan i live in ludington, Michigan, USA. Copyvio in Air brake (road vehicle)
I'm not challenging the revision you made to this article, but I wanted to clear up something. I reviewed the deletion log for this article and there seems to be a misunderstanding about the copyright status of the California Commercial Driver's Handbook. According to this link here the page is indeed in the public domain. But alas, whoever insists upon adding this information is doing a horrible job at it. - Thanks. I knew that it had been removed as a copyvio, so when it was dumped back in, I reverted it back out. I'm sure that there was a discussion about it's copyright status, and it's possible that the link declaring it to be public domain may be more recent than the discussion. - I have a fair few of the Hunter region articles on my watchlist and the vandalism isn't exclusively gay. For example, Windale, New South Wales (a predominantly housing commission area) tends to get a lot of vandalism generally insulting of the locals while Elermore Vale, New South Wales tends to get stories about a local drunk waiting for a bus! I barely read the vandalism anymore - if it's obviously vandalism, I revert it using popups and move on to the next article on my watchlist. Hume Freeway Legitimacy
When is the road classification "freeway" no longer a "freeway"? Well, it either is or it isn't. For instance, if the democratic and statutory authority for road classification declares a road a freeway, then that road becomes a freeway. This is especially credible when the roads authority operates under the auspices of a democratically elected government; a stable and envious one moreso (such as a Westminster-style government). These political procedures conquer roads classification in social and political legitimacy all throughout the world. Oftentimes there are many different roads that meet the classification of "freeway", however the most common occurence is that of a limited access road with no adjoining private properties that consists of grade-separated intersections with all other roads. However, often enough this is not the case: In the state of Victoria, Australia -there is a section of the Mornington Penninsula Freeway that is a two-lane, two-way road that spans two round-a-bouts. There are freeways in the United States that have traffic lights and private properties abutting them too. It remains that the roads authorities are those that classify the status of a road; as they are the officials and are emboldened by legal resolve. I noticed last year you edited the bridges page to reflect that it was opened in 1988 .. I have to say it was 1986, otherwise my high school bus that took me down to the powerhouse museum and first state '88 in the bi-centennial year must have had wings and flew from the north side of the F3 and back again on the way home... Invitation to Sydney editathon - Saturday 23rd November
There is a backstage pass coming up to be followed by an editathon in the State Library of New South Wales on Saturday 23 November. I'm hoping you might be able to make it down the big smoke for the occasion. This is the first time that an Australian cultural institution has opened its doors to us in this way and will be a special opportunity because the Library is providing: one of its best rooms; its expert curators (along with their expertise and their white gloves); a newly launched website (containing new resources); and of course, items from its collection (including rare and usually unavailable material) which we can look at, learn from, and use, to improve WP articles. For example, on the chosen topic (Australia and WWI), the Library holds many diaries and manuscripts from the period.
As you can see from the Library's project page, they have connected this editathon with their own work. They have already set out a wide range of resources to make things easier for us.
