Additional tips[edit]

Here are some extra tips to help you get around in Wikipedia:

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.

New categories[edit]

Please look at the categories that already exist before you create new ones. Two of you recent creations duplicate ones that already exist. I'm putting them up for deletion. CovenantD 03:14, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, check Wikipedia style guidelines before starting up categories. For example, you capitalized the B in "Comic Book characters". Also, in your text, you need to write in complete sentences which begin with one capital letter and use punctuation. Your enthusiasm is great. Please get to know Wikipedia guidelines well so you can properly direct that enthusiasm into constructive endeavors. Doczilla 21:23, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

Hiya, thanks for the help, but please be aware that Category:Soap opera characters is already a parent category for Category:General Hospital characters, so it's redundant to have both categories on the same article (in most cases). --Elonka 02:21, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually you created Category:Soap Opera characters which is nothing more than Category:Soap opera characters with a capitalization error. I've put it up for deletion as a duplicate cat. Please look at the categories that already exist and how they relate to one another before creating more. It will save everyone a lot of time. CovenantD 02:44, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Given names category[edit]

Please stop recategorizing names from Category:Given names to Category:Given Names. -- JHunterJ 20:44, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Batman actors category[edit]

STOP!! You are creating duplicate categories again. LOOK AT THE EXISTING CATEGORIES BEFORE YOU CREATE NEW ONES. CovenantD 00:25, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your change to the page Elvis Presley was determined to be unhelpful, and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. Thanks. If you feel that the edit I reverted should not have been reverted, please contact me. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 01:58, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal ban[edit]

Your persistence in creating duplicate categories is making me think you are a vandal. So:

This is your last warning.
The next time you vandalize a page, as you did to Category:Reality TV show winners from all over the world, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. NawlinWiki 21:27, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It has become apparent that your account is only being used for vandalism, so it has been blocked indefinitely.

NawlinWiki 21:31, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Glad somebody finally noticed. CovenantD 23:03, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Shane Donovan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.
