Infobox dates[edit]

Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. Welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions was not quite right. When updating statistics within the infobox of a footballer, please make sure you update the timestamp at the same time, so that both readers and fellow editors know when the information was last updated.

You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp within the |club-update= or |pcupdate= parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update= or |ntupdate= parameter for international stats, by adding five tildes (~~~~~), which generates the specific time the update was made.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you, Mattythewhite (talk) 23:02, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please keep this in mind. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:49, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It might be worth explaining your changes rather than continually edit warring. Please refer to WP:FOOTY/Players#Career statistics for guidance as to how career stats tables are formatted. You will see there is no recommendation to include an additional total row for multiple spells with one club. Also, your addition to the honours section is insufficiently sourced. While Murray may have appeared in the semi-final, he was not involved for the final, so can we be certain that the play-off honour should be listed for Murray? Mattythewhite (talk) 14:52, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response. I'm not worried that there is no recommendation for adding a total for multiple spells, I just think I should add that in for when people are searching up Glenn they will be able to see how many apps etc he has played for Brighton without having to work it out and get confused. Wikipedia is about creating useful information for people to read and if we make it simpler for people to read people are more likely to come back and use Wikipedia again. Referring to the Play Offs, yes Glenn did not play in the actual Play Off final, however he still made an appearance in the play offs and 42 appearances in the league and therefore why shouldn't he have it on his honours? He scored 30 league goals in that Championship season, THE RECORD, and you're saying just because he didn't play in the Play Off final means he can't have an honour for it? After all he helped Palace get there. I think there is a level of disrespect to not give him that honour don't you think.

Cheers.

Beeney.

This has nothing to do with showing "disrespect" towards a player by not adding an honour to their biography. It has everything to with verifiability of content, and what I'm saying is I don't think we're at the point where that is satisfied re the Championship POF.
Also, while I have your attention, would you mind answering my earlier query asking why you created a new account? You must have missed it. Thanks, Mattythewhite (talk) 15:29, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Well I believe we should add it onto his honours anyway and show his overall stats for Brighton. I don't see why it's such a problem. It's not exactly displaying fake stats saying he won the play offs, because he did, yes he wasn't playing in the final, but there's much more to a season than just playing in a play off final.

The reason I created a new account, honestly I don't really know. One reason I think was I didn't know how to change my username. I can't really remember, sorry.

Hi, please be sure to update all the figures when updating players' stats. In this update, you didn't include Wilson's appearance in the EFL Cup on 19 December. I have now included it. Thanks, Mattythewhite (talk) 17:40, 19 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, it's beeney xx...again, haha.

Please may you check out this article I have created Dan Blackmore of National League South side Eastbourne Borough. I believe it's ready to be published. If you agree, would you be able to publish this for an official Wikipedia page for Daniel Blackmore?

Cheers

beeney xx 18:05, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there,

please: no play-by-play commentary on his Brighton career, that's considered WP:OVERDETAIL, we don't need to mention all the matches/goals a player played/scored, only the milestones like debut and akin.

Also, please stop inserting Almería as an honour, maybe in England/UK it is an accolade, but not in Spain.

Attentively --Quite A Character (talk) 12:35, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, thanks for getting into contact with me.

I personally think what I wrote is not an over detail at all. What I wrote is all factual (the truth). What I believe is there is actually low levels of details to his Brighton career. Bruno is regarded as a Brighton legend and I don't see a problem in writing a decent amount of information about the player. With the Almería honour I have put it up there because it is a promotion. Again I don't see why that is a problem. You know there's a lot of pages out there where there needs more attention to or needs adjusting but this one, it's good. In your opinion it may be an over detail and fair enough but I would like to think the backed stats and facts I have written will come useful to visiting people.

Cheers

Beeney

  • I tried to explain the guidelines, to no avail. Reverted again, if we engage in an edit war it will result on both of us being blocked (another thing, no need to write "Bruno" several times in same paragraph, only once and then "he" suffices). Please wait to write that again (you say it is necessary but it is not, it's OVERDETAIL (and it is not me who's saying it kind sir, it's the encyclopedia), cannot be much more clearer on this) until there is mediation on this, I have contacted a fellow user that's as experience as me.

Almería: yes it is a promotion as you well say, but it is not an honour. --Quite A Character (talk) 13:36, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for the response.

Well I wouldn't want you being blocked because of me so I won't add it again, I just felt it's good to have a decent amount of information.

Sorry for the hassle.

Beeney

  • Out of respect for you i have re-added his contribution to the great FA Cup run, but not those unassuming league matches (no milestone, no major injury, just him kicking a ball and marking the opposition, not encyclopedical). Thanks, cheers and sorry for any inconvenience --Quite A Character (talk) 15:15, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you.

Beeney :)

Just to echo the above, that content doesn't seem particularly notable. Mattythewhite (talk) 13:26, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What's up guys, hope yah both ok,

In all honesty I believe my content was good. It gives a little more insight on his short Premier League career. There isn't loads of writing, a few lines. It's good, backed up information from BBC sources. Personally I don't think you should be worrying about it.

Have a good one,

Beeney xx (talk) 15:16, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Christian Walton[edit]

Hi, please can you stop adding headings for every loan spell, it is not necessary. Also, please refer to MOS:AMP which states "In normal text and headings, use and instead of the ampersand (&)". When one of your edits is reverted, please do not revert again. It is strongly advised that you follow the BRD cycle by beginning a discussion with the person who reverted your change to establish consensus. Thank you. Sorry mate, I just thought it makes it clearer for the reader.

Also I have reverted your end of loan edit because his loan expires on the 30 June so he is still a Wigan player although there are no more fixtures.

Thanks.

Can you please provide a source which states the loan expires on 30 June? LTFC 95 (talk) 11:42, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah sure. This is a source to the Brighton & Hove Albion website. --> [1]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Alexis Mac Allister, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Patronato (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

August 2019[edit]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did on Dale Stephens (footballer). This violates Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:08, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah sorry mate. Why revert them though, could've you just added the sources to my edits? It's not like I was lying or making untruthful edits. For example, Dale Stephens (footballer) is playing this season so. I wouldn't just add a new block for the sake of it you know.

Cheers

Beeney xx 21:33, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If I issue a block it isn't "for the sake of it", it's to protect the encyclopaedia. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:16, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Lewis Dunk. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:15, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I didn't make that clear. When I said adding a new block, I meant adding a new row. You know maybe instead of blocking you could help out and give us some advice or a bit of assistance where to find these sources, etc. You say you do it to protect the encyclopedia. Fair enough, but it's not like I added something anti social, or completely inaccurate or whatever. I literally added a new row for a new season but didn't back it up with a source. Have you noticed, not all players seasons on the career statistics have sources. There's plenty without sources.

Have a good one boss,

Beeney :)xx

Thank you.

Beeney xx (talk) 08:06, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:NFOOTBALL, which is the subject-specific guideline for the notability of football figures. The criteria for players is that they are presumed notable if they have played "in any Tier 1 International Match, as defined by FIFA" or "in a competitive game between two teams from fully-professional leagues". Blackmore does not meet either of these, having never played at senior international level and his only club appearances coming in the National League South, which is not a fully-professional league. The Premier League and English Football League and the only full-professional leagues in England. See WP:FPL for a list of known fully-professional leagues. Mattythewhite (talk) 15:29, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, thank you.

I believe I have seen some Wikipedia pages of players who have only played in Non League, but alright if that's the way it is.

Cheers,

Career stats tables[edit]

Where a player is on loan and then joins permanently (like at Fiacre Kelleher), the should be classed as separate spells (just like we do in the infobox). GiantSnowman 15:48, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I don't care quite honestly. Sorry, but does it matter? I've literally just added up the stats for his total appearances for that club. Nicer problems to have.

Cheers

Beeney :)

Beeney xx 16:55, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Again, these are two separate spells - they should not be combined. There is consensus at WT:FOOTBALL about this. GiantSnowman 17:12, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but his loan was made permanent/it's the following season. You see so many players statistics who played on loan, then on a permanent and Wikipedians make the edit I've made.

It makes sense to add up the total - he plays at Macclesfield, in his second consecutive year and for example he has played 51 league games. With the edit you want it says 42 league games last year, 9 this year but it's not added together. It looks better in my opinion in the format I edited.

Thank you for contacting, but haven't you got more important things to discuss?

Cheers

Beeney :)

Beeney xx 18:45, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please see recent consensus here that a 'total' should not be had for separate spells. It doesn't matter that the loan became permanent. They are separate in the infobox, they are separate in the stats table. If you change it again I will seek a block. GiantSnowman 07:45, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Sánchez[edit]

What is the relevance of all these games? We've just removed a heap at Robertp Firmino so don't pretend it's only you/lower league footballers being 'targeted'. Disagree? Take it to WT:FOOTBALL again. GiantSnowman 12:14, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There's relevance because for one it was his first EFL Cup game and his second appearance in the competition came against a huge club of Manchester United where they drew the game. (Only losing on penalties). Plus it just adds that extra bit of information that readers want to see, to learn about Robert and the matches he's played in. 😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😜😛😛😛😛😛😛

Beeney :)

OK, again - what is the relevance of all these games as shown by significant coverage (ie not just match reports) in reliable sources? The fact that you like it, or you think readers want it, is not enough. GiantSnowman 15:07, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
