Qin er Shi

Question, in our art history class, we learned about Chinese art and the history of it. When we were covering Qin Shihuangdi, our teacher (who is not Chinese) mentioned that Qin Shihuang's son was named Loserson (with an accent on the o). Others have said it's "Lo Se Son."

What is the real meaning? Because he is an amazing art teacher in a highly gifted school, some of the students think that the edits on Qin Er Shi's page was not vandalism.

2008 in China

I condemn your acts of editing 2008 in China. You deleted a line, claiming that it was POV, without providing any details or arguing why it was POV. No prior information was provided, you deleted a line on your own accord due to what you think you believe in.

The ROC is still China. This article is called "2008 in China", and not "2008 in the People's Republic of China". Taiwan matters are still of Chinese peoples' concern, and thus must be maintained in the article. If anyone wishes against this, then by all means rename this article. China means China. The PRC is China, the ROC is China. Unless the Republic of China renames to "Republic of Taiwan" and revises the ROC constitution, "Taiwan" is still officially the Republic of China. Similarly, by the Constitution of the United Kingdom, all overseas Pacific territories are still "United Kingdom", while the local isles themselves are called the "British Isles". The ROC is indeniably China - the official nationality is Chinese; the language spoken is Mandarin Chinese; the writing system is Hanzi, or Chinese character; the majority race is Han Chinese; the name of Taiwan is Republic of China; the ROC constitution states that it represents all Chinese people; the national anthem refers to the ROC being Chinese; the "guofu" is Sun Yat-Sen, who is Han Chinese. Calm down. I help edit the Chinese timeline, so I definitely know why you feel that way. But your edit is POV. Let me explain. You are technically more correct putting Chris Patten in 1997 in China than Ma Ying-jeou in 2008 in China. Patten managed a legitimate part of China. Ma Ying-jeou legally still hasn't. But he is the leader of the ROC, is he not? He is the leader of the KMT, a CHINESE PARTY, is he not? And so he is not significant? Would a pro-independence Pan-Green leader be significant over a KMT leader? This page is a timeline of all that occurs in China - a president sworn in is significant, is it not? Wouldn't you put anything similar for "2008 in USA" for the November election victor? Or who becomes the governor of California? It doesn't matter what he has done; he IS the leader of the ROC. His election took place on Taiwan island. None of it had anything to do with the PRC. If I am not going to revert the edit is because the page itself is not clear. It should have been called "2008 in the People's Republic of China". That is something the group should change.... but they probably won't... for obvious reasons. Historical capitals of China#Chronology

Hello there! Regarding this edit. May I ask why you've removed Taipei from the Republic of China section, and introduced a new row under the name Republic of China (Taiwan)? You stated in the edit summary that the two aren't the same entity, but why is that so? I think that the two are indeed the same entity, viz. "the Government of the Republic of China" (zh:中華民國政府). This has been so since the 20 May 1948. I do not think that there is a "Republic of China (Taiwan)" officially, even if the name was changed in their constitution, it would still be the same entity, would it not? According to the PRC, Beijing is the ONLY national capital of China. They do not share capitals with other countries. Either Taipei doesn't count as a capital. Or Taipei counts as a capital for ROC (Taiwan). That is my understanding of the neutrality. Benjwong (talk) 05:08, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello again! Wikipedia strives towards a neutral point of view and not simply that of the present government of the People's Republic of China's. Following the same argument, it can be asserted that the Republic of China is the sole legitimate government of China. Especially true on the 10 December 1949 when Taipei was made capital. The nomenclature Republic of China (Taiwan) isn't official, and according to Google -wikipedia searches, it is less popular than the term Republic of China. Moreover, the Government of the Republic of China has existed since the 20 May 1948 with the capital in Nanjing, and it is this government that has successively moved its capital, finally arriving in Taipei the 10 December 1949. --Shibo77 (talk) 07:21, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for splitting the majority of the marketing section into a new article. I've felt for a month or so that the marketing section was too large: it was a remnant of the time when all Wikipedia could report was the preparations for the games – now that the games are about to start, details about the theme song for the 2-year countdown are irrelevant. The Legislative Council Sitting Record regarding the Ordinance stated "non-Chinese" not European, Non-European such as Indian and people of Middle East origin were allow to reside to the Peak, Kadoorie family was one of the well-known examples.

The Peak Ordnance appears to be racial at first glance, and certainly it has an racial element in it, but if u look into the circumstance of the time more carefully, large part of it also was an effort from the British to evade from a serious public wide-spread plague. And this problem was a real issue in Hong Kong in late 19th century, earily 20th century (i.e. late Qing China era) especially when general Chinese population still had no idea about the concept of bacteria, virus and Pathology. At that time, Chinese still believed pray, worshipping to effigy, and drinking incense ash could solve health problem and rejected western medicine treatment. Cantonese Chinese residential house at the time has no or very small window to ensure privacy in the expense of ventilation and sunlight, which provided excellent environment for plague and bacteria. Furious resistance occurred with the British attempted to disinfect houses of infected persons, thus further made the situation hard to control. This part of the history has been largely left blank in hk history textbook to please China and portray the British as vicious racists.

You need to resist the temptation of repealing negative info about China, and don’t let your judgment affected by your race. Doing so, u will be able to see this more objectively.

No need to create a new article. Longevity noodles is the same as Yi mein. On birthdays people call Yi mein.... longevity noodles and eat longevity buns as a combination. I was going to make a separate article for it see my already uploaded peachbun picture from a while back, and make make a note of it to Yi mein. I just haven't gotten around it. I think this is a really loose custom, not restricted to any group. Others may be able to provide you more info. Cantonese people generally celebrate it that way. But certainly not every birthday. Benjwong (talk) 05:47, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Question regarding image

Hello, Benjwong. Since you uploaded a image of chrysanthemum tea and edited the article, I think you can give me a piece of advice on this image. Image:Korean chrysanthemum tea-Gukhwacha-01.jpg After I named the image as chrysanthemum tea, but I'm not 100% sure of it because the flowers in your picture look different from it.
