Contesting Speedy Deletion

Hi @Bensci54:
Thanks for your message. I contested the speedy deletion of the following Wikipedia page. I have added a few links to some independent articles on the subject as well. I'll appreciate your help in understanding how can I ensure that this page is not deleted. If there is a different approach that I should take to structure the article, then please let me know. Thank you.

Thank you very much Bensci54 for your message.

It is part of the Food Festivals of Wales project. I am currently documenting these festivals. However, I agree this one could do with more detail to be added. You will see it attracts up to 20,000 people which makes it a significant local event. Kind regards

AFPSLAI Article

Hi! The article is not promotional. I am not affiliated nor connected to AFPSLAI. If there is need of improvement, I will do. Do not delete it quickly to give justice to my effort and time spent in order to contribute in the Wikipedia. Please review again. Thank you! Jsnueva1022 (talk) 23:16, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

Moving article from main namespace to draft again

Dear Bensci54, May I know why the article Dr. Nikisha Jariwala is moved from main namespace to draft ? Please let me know the reason Piyakapadia (talk) 17:55, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

Bnsci54, I saw that you did some work on that article. I have only one issue , and that's that you removed "He's regarded as one of the most versatile artists in England...". This is actually reliably sourced , in fact there are two sources for this portion, not quoted word-for-word, but close enough. One source is the local press in his area, which is reliable. I reverted only that change and wanted to explain why this was reverted. Thanks for the rest of the work! Necromonger...We keep what we kill 18:58, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer newsletter February 2020

Hello Bensci54/Archives,

Source Guide Discussion

The first NPP source guide discussion is now underway. It covers a wide range of sources in Ghana with the goal of providing more guidance to reviewers about sources they might see when reviewing pages. Hopefully, new page reviewers will join others interested in reliable sources and those with expertise in these sources to make the discussion a success.

Redirects

New to NPP? Looking to try something a little different? Consider patrolling some redirects. Redirects are relatively easy to review, can be found easily through the New Pages Feed. You can find more information about how to patrol redirects at WP:RPATROL.

Discussions and Resources
Refresher

Geographic regions, areas and places generally do not need general notability guideline type sourcing. When evaluating whether an article meets this notability guideline please also consider whether it might actually be a form of WP:SPAM for a development project (e.g. PR for a large luxury residential development) and not actually covered by the guideline.

In order to help and let me create a new page.

Hey buddy, I wanted to create a new page about Dil Dosti Dance, a TV show that aired on Channel V few years ago. I've created a page, but saw that you've reversed all the changes and I wanted to request you to let me create the page and please help if possible. PS. I've not learnt markup language so maybe the particular page violated some of the rules that made you to do the sudden changes. Help me in creating this page if you can😊 Nehhz335 (talk) 17:07, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Question about your edits to page The Elephant in the Brain

Hi! I saw that recently you removed 4,687 bytes from the page The Elephant in the Brain, citing it as 'non-neutral'. The removed content consisted of chapter summaries for ten chapters of the book. The main reason I added them was because I was advised to by another user when they rejected my draft of the page for submission. I think that the summaries were written in a neutral manner, so please could you let me know what you thought was 'non-neutral' about it? Cheers, Alfredsph (talk) 17:31, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Regarding speedy del of page Ashu Khanna

Hello, I had replied to your talk comment on my talk page but could not see the comment so writing again here.

The page is a account of Ashu Khannas life written by me. She is a motivational speaker and a leadership coach. She has trained many leaders in India and has had a very positive impact on their professional career. Wikipedia is a source of gaining info and acts like a true encyclopedia. I feel that Ashu Khannas info shall be sought by many ppl and hence the page should not be deleted. If there is some change in content that needs to be done then pls do let me know. New Page Reviewer newsletter June 2020

Hello Bensci54/Archives,

Your help can make a difference

NPP Sorting can be a great way to find pages needing new page patrolling that match your strengths and interests. Using ORES, it divides articles into topics such as Literature or Chemistry and on Geography. Take a look and see if you can find time to patrol a couple pages a day. With over 10,000 pages in the queue, the highest it's been since ACPERM, your help could really make a difference.

Google Adds New Languages to Google Translate

In late February, Google added 5 new languages to Google Translate: Kinyarwanda, Odia (Oriya), Tatar, Turkmen and Uyghur. This expands our ability to find and evaluate sources in those languages.

Discussions and Resources
  • A discussion on handling new article creation by paid editors is ongoing at the Village Pump.
  • Also at the Village Pump is a discussion about limiting participation at Articles for Deletion discussion.
  • A proposed new speedy deletion criteria for certain kinds of redirects ended with no consensus.
  • Also ending with no change was a proposal to change how we handle certain kinds of vector images.

Speedy deletion nomination of Cloud Firestore

Hi, I'd like to chat about Cloud Firestore. I tried re-writing the page to make the style more encyclopedic. Happy to hear any suggestions you might have. I'm trying to model this page after MongoDB, a similar database. Xephyr826 (talk) 18:14, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: YugabyteDB

Hello Bensci54. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of YugabyteDB, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: I've taken the spammiest section out. Notability isn't clear, but there's a couple of sources which is probably enough for A7. Thank you. GedUK  13:05, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
Hi Bensci54 -

Just wanted to thank you for your comments and edits to my recently created article. It's my first one and I'm still getting the hang of it but want to make sure I'm doing right by wikipedia and it's users, so your feedback is very much appreciated.

Thanks! Rachel Constantinou (talk) 21:43, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello, why did you decide to delete the short description of the main ideas of his books? It should help readers to grasp the main contribution without reading the books. Some data about myself - I write mainly at the Hebrew wikipedia where I am an admin and have about 140,000 edits. I mainly deal with biographies and I believe that what I wrote was well written, but will be happy to get your insights about what should I do to improve the article. --Yoavd (talk) 04:15, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

  • First of all, those paragraphs were not sourced and were presented in a non-encyclopedic tone. Some issues were: 1) discussing Dothan's motivations. This is a concern because unless he has stated his motivations in an interview somewhere, this is just speculation. If there is such an interview, this needs to be sourced. 2)Presenting his ideas as factual rather than as his ideas in some places. 3) and lastly, the paragraphs were somewhat promotional. They read like something you'd see on the back cover of a book, rather than an encyclopedia article. Bensci54 (talk) 16:42, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
Thank you. I Should have mentioned that both paragraphs were written by Prof. Dothan, as I asked him to write something different from what is written on the cambridge site. I do not think that it was promotional, they just summed the ideas mentioned in the books. So the IP address that you could see in the history was actually him.

If you have any idea how he could improve them in a more encyclopedic way, it will be really helpful.--Yoavd (talk) 17:21, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello! Has this speedy delete been resolved? The article versions of the encyclopedia in English often have such poor such (with lots of Swenglish) that it's hard to figure out what is meant unless one knows Swedish well. That's very sad, because the intention is very good and the need considerable. The user who is defending the article has gone ahead and added "Further reading" links to hundreds of articles on English WP, even after I mentioned the language problem to h, which seems to be of minuscule interest there. That too is sad. And frustrating. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 22:14, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

  • Yes, the situation has been resolved. The speedy was declined as it was found that the source that was copied from had a compatible license. Bensci54 (talk) 16:16, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

New Page Patrol December Newsletter

Hello Bensci54/Archives,

A chart of the 2020 New Page Patrol Queue

Year in review

It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.

Reviewer of the Year

John B123 has been named reviewer of the year for 2020. John has held the permission for just over 6 months and in that time has helped cut into the queue by reviewing more than 18,000 articles. His talk page shows his efforts to communicate with users, upholding NPP's goal of nurturing new users and quality over quantity.

NPP Technical Achievement Award

As a special recognition and thank you DannyS712 has been awarded the first NPP Technical Achievement Award. His work programming the bot has helped us patrol redirects tremendously - more than 60,000 redirects this past year. This has been a large contribution to New Page Patrol and definitely is worthy of recognition.

Issues on page Mugi the Cat might be solved

Dear Bensci54,
thank you for reviewing the article Mugi the Cat I created. I think I fixed most of the issues that you tagged:

  • all external links deleted, except for the artist's website
  • included footnotes to reference the content
  • added lists of appearances on nation-wide TV and coverage in independent, nation-wide magazines, including the footnotes that prove that coverage. I hope this solves the issue of notability.

I also changed the body text a lot to address the issue with in-universe style, but it is difficult to judge by myself if it's enough.
Would you be so kind to review this updated version again, and if you agree, remove the issue tags that you have set?
Thank you very much for your support!
