Your edit to Knut (polar bear)[edit]

Hi, Mike, thank you for your message. The reason why I removed the link to the petition is not because of any personal opinion of mine; although I am a fan of Knut and I was responsible for bringing his article to Featured Article status, I have no opinion regarding where he lives. The link simply goes against WP:EL, which is a style guideline, in that it is only indirectly related to the article's subject, not from a recognized authority and it does not provide a unique resource. As opposed to the RBB link, which is a recognized "official blog" and has been since day one, this petition of yours may be removed on the grounds that it constitutes as spam. Again, this is not any reflection on my personal beliefs; simply looking at the issue from the POV of Wikipedia guideline and policy, however, the petition link does not belong on the article. Please keep in mind that the article is Featured and has appeared on the Wikipedia Main Page; it is our responsibility as Wikipedians to uphold its high quality by adhering to the rules, so I must ask you to please not add the link again. Thank you for your understanding, María (habla conmigo) 16:20, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but you have completely the wrong idea about me and, frankly, I'm concerned with your dismissal of my very level headed and fair explanation for why your petition link on an English Wikipedian article goes against English Wikipedian guidelines. I am not biased; I'm only concerned with upholding the very high quality that the Knut article is currently at and nothing more. I and others will continue to remove spam external links in order to uphold said very high quality. In case you hadn't noticed, that the petition link was added to the German version of the article is immaterial as the English and other language Wikis are not the same thing nor do they follow the same guidelines. On a sidenote, threatening to report my actions to the media sounds dubious, but good luck in finding an outlet for your cause. María (habla conmigo) 00:03, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
