Picture

Sorry to bother you but I was wondering. I want to add a picture to the Tagalog Fra Lippo Lippi page I made. I scanned the picture from their album "Light and Shade" but instead of scanning the front side of the album cover, I scanned the rear cover of the inlay booklet. Is this all right? If you want to illustrate the album, it is best to use the front cover. Well, you can only use the rear cover only on the article or section that is discussing the album inlay itself. --bluemask (talk) 05:23, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Yeah. Sorry about that. False alarm. I tried loading the page yesterday and what I got was a page that told me the Bea Alonzo page doesn't exist and that it might have been deleted. I checked the deletion logs and contacted the person whose name was on the log. He suggested that I purge my cache and well, the problem was solved. Again, sorry for the confusion. User:Inkani's photos

I saw you've tagged one of the photos at Abahlali baseMjondolo as unsourced/no copyright info. I've been working with the user to get these tagged, and in my talk, the user said that the photos were all his. Am I right in thinking that I shouldn't tag the pictures for the user, as I can't decide for them which license to release their work under? I noticed that most of the images are in low resolution and some are pixelated. Since you indicated that you made all those images yourself, can you upload the high-resolution versions of the images? The articles about these persons will be better if we will use high resolution images.

You should indicate in your uploads who is the photographer, in these cases, the name of your dad. This is to acknowledge correctly the original photographer or maker of the image. Go on, put it in the image description.

Can you ask him to upload the original high resolution versions of the images instead? Naka-internet naman siya, di ba? But in the mean time, you should properly acknowledge your dad as the photographer by placing his name on the images that he took as a sign of thanks. on neutrality

You undid the entry: "The term Ilocos Region promotes the wrong notion that all the residents of Region 1 are Ilocanos." in the article page "Ilocos Region". It is a fact that a lot of people get the impression that the inhabitants of Ilocos Region are Ilocanos. It is even taught in some textbooks in the Philippines. I do not understand how the entry should be deleted, when it is an important fact. I am a Toon Pangasinan. There are countless of times that I am mistaken for an Ilocano because I come from "Ilocos region". You have to accept this fact. You can easily make a survey in the Philippines and ask "who are the inhabitants of Ilocos Region?" and if they answer Ilocano, then ask them "why they think so?".

I do not understand how other entries could be allowed such as: "The region is also rich in crafts, with renowned blanket-weaving and pottery. Their burnay pottery is well known for its dark colored clay." There are premises hidden in the entry that can be seen from the words "renowned" and "well known". These descriptions are assumed to be facts; but they are not facts, they are only being presented as facts. If these are assumptions, and you are strict with the guidelines of the wikipedia, then these should be edited as they are not based on a third person research. 218.221.37.101 09:20, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

When is an image replaceable?

Simple: a fair use image can be replaced if a free equivalent exists and is uploaded here. If you can provide one, please do. But if you don't have a replacement, leave it alone! It's really irritating when you take your time to find good images, and later find them deleted by someone who did not offer anything better to put on their place. -- Stormwatch 03:00, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

The Tagalog Wikipedia needs you

There are a lot of things to do in the Tagalog Wikipedia. They are set in order of priority.

  1. There are MediaWiki and template code errors that needs to be fixed. (tl:Wikipedia:Kapihan#Problema_sa_Suleras_ng_Link_FA)
  2. tl:MediaWiki:Uploadwizard-url needs to be created with the content:
    Wikipedia:Pagkarga
    . This basically points the Magkarga ng Talaksan (file) to tl:Wikipedia:Pagkarga, which is an upload wizard just like here in en. This effectively bypasses the default link Special:Upload.
  3. Every image here at tl:Category:Mga_malalayang_larawang_may_kopya_sa_Commons needs to be deleted. Those are images already move to Commons.

The source you specified a blog. It is your blog! Blogs are reliable sources for Wikipedia articles. The most reliable source for the article should be from published news articles, example pep.ph news articles (not the comments section) and abscbnnews.com (not the abs-cbn forums). Tagalog Wikipedia

Hello there. Just want to notify you about some recent developments at Tagalog Wikipedia. There is still a pending RfA regarding tl:User:Delfindakila. I believe he is ready to be an admin over there. There are also other potential users who can become admins someday or sooner. One notable contributor at present is tl:User:Nickrds09 who's being active at Kasalukuyang Kaganapan and other Philippine related pages. He's not yet been nominated, but definitely he will be. It seems that the image (Image:Angel Locsin Pictorial.jpg) have a problem. You have to present the permission from Summit Media that says that they license their image under GFDL/CC and you can post it to Wikipedia/Wikimedia Commons. If Summit Media is the one who commissioned (paid for) the pictorial, the copyright belongs to them and therefore permission from them is needed. If Commons don't receive permission from them, the image will be considered copyright violation and will be deleted. I suggest that you (or others) will have to take the picture of Ms Locsin instead and release it under a free license so that it can be used here at Wikipedia or at Wikimedia Commons. --bluemask (talk) 09:02, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Kung ikaw kasi ang photographer, pwede mong gamitin ang {{GFDL-self}} o {{cc-by-sa-3.0}}. Since, hindi ikaw ang photographer, kailangan mo sabihin kung saan galing (source website) at gamitin ang {{non-free fair use in|article name}} kaya lang may mga conditions yun. Isa doon, hindi pwedeng gamitin sa mga taong buhay pa (living people), kasi pwede mo pa silang kunan ng picture. For the role it was already announced in Starstudio Magazine's November 2008 issue Piolo Pascual role was Migo and Angel Locsin was Arah! I'm pretty sure of that. In the Playdate, I am a member of Angel Locsin's fansclub where there are Angel's cousins,well some of them confirmed to us that the showing will be on January, 2009 due to the short time, because they just shoot only the half of the said movie, and they are expected to fly to Aussie this Nov. 3 that the reason, why Star Cinema re-scheduled its playdate. Try to see if the article passess the good article criteria first. If you feel that it passess, try nominating this as a good article. Often, a featured article must be good article first. --bluemask (talk) 10:38, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Screwing up date preferences

Why are you running around screwing things up so date preferences don't work any more, by removing the linking which makes date preferences work, like these edits here at Jennylyn Mercado and here at Janno Gibbs and probably a whole lot of others? Gene Nygaard (talk) 12:44, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Linking of dates for autoformatting is already deprecated since August 2008. Read WP:MOSNUM in general, and MOS:UNLINKDATES in particular. It states:

Well, I haven't been contributing much lately--but you will notice, of course, the big honking notice in the box on that MOS:UNLINKDATES section: "The following section's wording or inclusion in this policy or guideline is disputed or under discussion. I for one will likely continue to dispute that, just to let you know. I will check out the discussion, see if it is really still active. But anyway, thanks for your quick response pointing that out to me, so I don't go around changing a whole bunch of them without looking into it more. IP vandal

Hi, A while ago I reported a very persistent vandal on the talk page of Tambayan Philippines (Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines/Archive18#persistent IP vandal) and you noted that this is also a problem on the Tagalog Wikipedia. As this editor is continuing their vandalism, I've posted an abuse report at Wikipedia:Abuse reports/202.37.68.x and 118.92.x which will hopefully lead to their ISP provider being contacted and doing something about this.
