Countries that won't recognize[edit]

Algeria said today they will not recognize the NTC and denied it was because of any conditions: [1] [2]

Russia said they might open relations with the NTC but they will not recognize them: [3] [4]

I'm keeping an eye on Dominica, Belarus, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Zimbabwe, but so far, those governments haven't taken the step of saying they will refuse to recognize the NTC. There is an argument to be made that Russia's refusal to recognize is in a similar category to that of the Czech Republic, but there have been conflicting statements from Russian officials; Medvedev said Russia could establish relations with the NTC if they demonstrate the capability to unite the country, Margelov said Russia won't recognize the NTC until they do unite the country, and Lavrov said Russia won't recognize the NTC, period. -Kudzu1 (talk) 19:05, 26 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Contact Group[edit]

You should go ahead and add them to the Libya Contact Group article. You can note in that section something like, "Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chad, Colombia, Gabon, Iraq, Mauritania, Niger, and Russia joined the group only for its September meeting in Paris." -Kudzu1 (talk) 01:28, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Seychelles[edit]

I didn't actually see that Reuters added it, but we've added countries before when they announce they are in the process of recognition (Gabon comes to mind), because it's both very uncommon for such recognitions (especially in African countries) to be derailed and very uncommon that another press release would issue upon the completion of the process. The release was also vague as to whether the process concerns the recognition of the NTC or just the accreditation of the embassy, and Adam did use language saying his government saw the NTC as the legitimate governing authority. -Kudzu1 (talk) 19:18, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's not exactly the same situation as Pakistan because that report was based on an anonymous source, who did not say the recognition process was underway and explicitly said that a Foreign Ministry announcement was forthcoming. In the case of Seychelles, the Foreign Ministry did make that announcement; it wasn't simply an official speaking on condition of anonymity claiming the government was planning to recognize. -Kudzu1 (talk) 19:26, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ALBA[edit]

The Caribbean states are full members of ALBA, but my understanding is that due to their relatively small sizes and economies, they're sort of "junior partners", while Cuba, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Bolivia, and especially Venezuela dominate the bloc. Lucas's statement sounds like a reaffirmation of Ecuador's previous stance, judging by the second paragraph. -Kudzu1 (talk) 19:59, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Uganda[edit]

Mali, etc.[edit]

I think it's best we left the page as it is now that the war is over, personally. The NTC now has general recognition and there's no other political force in Libya to recognize.
