Slam Dunk manga page

Taking Chopa as an example, in the Discography section the album information for each of their 3 albums is pretty much the same thing that can be found on each individual album's page. The albums are already linked to. So what I am suggesting is removing what is duplicative and migrating anything that does not appear for each individual album onto that respective album's article page. In the end, you would be left with a Discography section listing all 3 albums.
I also noticed the Notes on selected pieces section; this section be taken out of the Chopa article and appear in the pages for all 3 albums containing only those notes relevant for that particular album. As it appears right now, the reader cannot tell where a song appears unless he/she scrolls up and searches. It would be more relevant to have the specific information pertaining to songs appearing on particular albums on the respective album's pages. --BrokenSphere 03:08, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Re: Article handling

I find it's always a good idea to move non-notable pages to the creator's user space, as a lot of the articles have had a lot of effort put into them, and personally I think that an unfriendly speedy deletion notice followed by the removal of the page is kind of WP:BITE ^_^ Mathematician triathlon I don't think is speedy deletion material - it's not really that it doesn't "assert the importance or significance" of the band, but that they're just not notable at all. Personally I'd be more inclined to PROD or AFD it. ShakingSpirittalk 05:06, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

New Ranma section pages

Given that you have some experience with this, could you help me out in setting up the 'Battle recods', and more importantly 'Chapter by chapter characteristics reference' pages in a few days? Some of them (Ranma & Akane) are turning extremely (8 page+) long, but they really need to get out, to clean up the entire fandom mess, in that people can swiftly browse and check for themselves. Just an update. Apparently it wasn't ok to add the battle records page to Wikipedia, so I screwed up, but quickly cleaned up my mess, but I learned that it was ok to create Wikifarms and then add closing links to them at the end, so it worked out all right. List of Marmalade Boy Characters

I see that you brought back the sub-header for each character. The reason why I removed them is because it states in WikiProject Anime and manga's guidelines, under sections, number 4, first bullet it states "Character sections should not be divided into numerous sub-sections, as this makes the table of contents unnecessarily long." The table of contents is now long since you changed it back. (Duane543 04:06, 29 May 2007 (UTC))

I see your point, but I think to guideline could still apply. As of now the table of contents takes over a whole screen page (or at least for me). That seem like a lot of wasted space. Most other manga and anime character list have moved way from having sub-header for each character. (see Category:Anime and manga characters by series). If you can tell me what it is you'd like to do with it, I can likely help you. If you'd just like it for your own personal reference, I can email it to you. If you want to use material from it elsewhere, you would also need the page history for GFDL compliance, and I can put it temporarily in your userspace. I can't honestly answer your question, Dave, unless I were to see such a new version. If the reworked version could substantially address the problems brought up at AfD, then yes.
As to using it for a move to Wikia, that's certainly fine. I can restore the text and history to your userspace, though of course the fair-use images could not be included. (The image links wouldn't work anywhere but here anyway, so that shouldn't cause you substantial difficulty in a transwiki.) Would you like to do that? I'm not honestly sure of what Wikia's policies are on fair-use images, or whether each one sets its own policies. My advice there would be to ask in the community discussion area of the one you plan to transwiki to, or see if they already have a fair-use policy written up. I would rather this be done right than rushing into it and encountering problems down the road because of the mixed content. If there's precedent for combining such apparently dissimilar subjects in one article, then that lends more strength to your suggestion (so we need to find one or some). Re. the images, I already got all the orphaned images off Wiki ({{db-author}}) so I don't keep getting bothered with orphaned image notices, so that's not an issue anymore; I still have backups anyway so I can reupload them whenever an items page in some form gets resurrected. --BrokenSphere 14:33, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

About character infobox

I would like to thank you for offering an infobox template so that I could possibly create a separate article for Irene "Rally" Vincent of Gunsmith Cats. Unfortunately, the template didn't work, despite the modifications I had made. I was wondering if you can supply a general anime character infobox template instead of one for a particular series (that was a Ramna infobox, with too many entiries.

If you like, here's how I modified the infobox (this is for a Gunsmith Cats character, by the way, I removed the brackets so that it can be seen and not shown as a broken link):

Ranma Images

Hi again. Is everything ok? I'm leaving another request from the hotel computer. In any case I've had serious trouble with fitting the various images symmetrically to the columns besides them, since they seem to be displayed very differently depending on the computer. Is this something you'd be interested in helping me to fix at the various character & fighting techniques pages? (That is, if you have an idea about how to do it properly) Thanks in advance. How about using the thumb function for the images so that captions can be inserted to clarify what's being illustrated? --BrokenSphere 20:00, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

I'm already using that when it's appropriate, but skips it when it just winds up being silly or patronizing, and takes unnecessary space (the fighting techniques in particular usually have a great shortage in this regard). I'm thinking more about adjusting the image sizes properly for almost every viewer. They can currently either look almost perfectly lined or horribly asynchronous, depending on the viewer/browser settings. Dave 17:29, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
I am not aware of a function that enables the individual user to custom size an image that they're looking at; there is some coding that I've seen used for tables and templates that allows portions to be hidden or unhidden, but this is likely to be troublesome to insert for each individual image. Some of the images are so small already that it's hard to make out the techniques they're meant to illustrate. Another thing is that there may be too many being used; as we discussed in the talk page of the fighting techniques, it isn't necessary to illustrate all the techniques. If you still want to keep them all in though, a possible solution is to have each technique appear as a subheader, this will insure that the images are properly matched to the techniques in question. Vandalism Problems

Hi. Sorry about bothering you again, but I have problems with a particularly unreasonable and relentless vandal, who reverts any additions I make to a page, no matter how factual and well-referenced, without ever adding anything of value himself. It's impossible to reason with him, and he resorts to crude !!!!!-style insults when intelligence fails him. Given that you're very well-versed in all the features of Wikipedia, do you know some ways to directly report him or the page to an editor to make the silliness stop? Dave 12:20, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Well for vandals, I usually issue warnings first; if that doesn't stop them, I report them. Admins are more likely to block if a final warning was issued and the vandal ignored it. However, they also check to see if the issue is a content dispute vs. vandalism; in the case of the former, discussion on the subject's talk page over the disputed content I think is seen as better than edit warring. --BrokenSphere 14:58, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

That guy was completely unreasonable and strictly stuck to bratty insults instead of argument, but it seems to have worked out now (by putting a "POV" tag on top?), since an editor came and banned the vandal for a day, but thanks for the reply. My user page and lack thereof

I have a much easier time finding my own edits if my name appears as a red link. Not being able to express my interests seems an appropriate trade-off. The five times it has been created has been someone who is not me, and three of those times were by the same person who failed to get the picture after it was deleted the first time. My hope is that someday it will be the most deleted page across all of the en.wikipedia name spaces, though my lack of getting on peoples' nerves as of late has caused this dream to stall. ~SnapperTo 19:41, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: Possible shot at a DYK with Thomas J. Higgins (or not)

Now that you mention it, I think Thomas J. Higgins would have a good shot at DYK. You could definitely make a good hook out of it, something like "Did you know that, during the American Civil War, Union Army colorbearer Thomas J. Higgins' advance at the Battle of Vicksburg so impressed the enemy soldiers that they stopped firing and cheered him on?" The article is a bit on the short side, adding some background on the battle should put it over the top. Let me tell you I've had a great time reading Thomas J. Higgins, and I know a lot of people will too. I had no idea you're interested in the American Civil War, so this is a good chance to share a small project I've had on hold for quite some time. Perhaps you've heard of John "RIP" Ford, the Confederate commander at the Battle of Palmito Ranch, the last battle of the War - if you haven't, let me tell you he had quite an interesting life. Re: Anime OSTs

I believe it deals more with personal preference, but consolidation does help with organization since all of the music can be found in one, two, or three articles rather than 10+, such as with List of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni soundtracks. And then the Haruhi albums were split into two: List of Haruhi Suzumiya albums and List of Haruhi Suzumiya character song albums. I personally like having all, or the majority of the albums together for a specific series for easier organizational purposes, but no, there isn't any set guideline for it.--十八 02:14, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

I would have to say that the album lists I have worked on have all been of albums I have previously downloaded and just inputed the track lengths and album lengths manually that way. There are some exceptions, like I don't have all of the albums listed at List of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni soundtracks, but others like for List of Clannad soundtracks I have every album on the list, so it was easy. The only other place I've found track lengths and album lengths is at this website though I only use it every once and a while, and I rarely use CD Japan anyway. So my main resourse when researching albums would be the Japanese Amazon website, and everything else I gain from actually downloading the albums myself.--十八 15:33, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

How to fix it

To keep your monobook.js out of Category:Unassessed biography articles replace: 

assessmentMyTemplateCode = ["{{WPBiography|class=|importance=}}"];

with:

Is there a way to CLC the title? How? For example, I started "Rogelio ordoñez" (the surname is in small case) and I want to CLC the "ordoñez."

Also, I want people to be redirected to "Rogelio Ordoñez" article ( which I have already made) in case they type small caps "rogelio ordoñez," "rogelio ordonez" or "Rogelio ordoñez"

The main Ranma ½ article

It was recently semi-butchered to a format without any character images, due to previously missing fair use rationales. I think I've pasted acceptable versions into all of them except Taro (due to a weird filter at this particular computer), but can't currently revert it without risking missing words for the very same reason. So is there any chance you could restore the version before Seraphimblade revisions, along with cutting a pasting one of the (virtually identical) justification texts in into the Taro image? Thank you for your note on my talk page! The glass of Wuerzburger Hofbraue was well received. I cannot be sure as to who is the most prolific article creator on Wikipedia, and I am unable to check recent statistics on those I consider to be high-profile article editors/creators as Interiot's tool is currently down (in a manner of speaking..)

Now that I think about it, I have two further articles to add to that list which I previously had not. I think I might wait until I have authored more before I do so.

I left almost all the speedy tags you put on. I removed the one for the President, who it seems to me is clearly notable for previous work quite independently of the present company--check his bio. The Chief Investment officer might possibly be, if the company has enough funds under management. The others, more dubious. The VP's--certainly not. I also left a strong piece of advice for their PR guy to supplement the excellent notice you left him. My feeling is the company could be established. The copyvios maybe, or he wrote them afresh. he may even have published them here first--in which case they might be covered under GFDL. --I think the outfit is very new, but if they have enough money they are notable, and the president is a very senior figure who I suspect would not have started it otherwise. I suggest you wait a day or two and see if the article for the company gets added, and then if you think fit nom the others--except the president--I really think his prev. career is notable enough to be defended--possibly even notable enough to be worth stubbifying re the copyvio. Features and Plot on the Ranma page

I think that Features should go before Plot on the Ranma page since the Plot section is larger (and I was trying to expand it by adding a bit about how the TV series diverges). Moreover the features section gives more of an overview and the page (as do pages in general) moves from the general to the specific. Also, I think you made some changes to the Plot section, but I can't analyze them because they were incorporated with the other change. I can see I agree with some of them but I can't make a good comparison.Jaydubayubee 23:11, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

I think I might be missing something, I use the compare selected versions tab. Fair use elimination

I agree that images should be kept to a minimum, but I don't agree with the "if it's not important enough for an article it's not important enough to get an image" stance. List of major Konoha teams features a number of recurring characters in the series, and each team was restricted to group shots to avoid fair use abuse. While the image count was still fairly high, it was considerably better than most of the other articles and multiple times better than what it could have been. Likewise, I'd prefer someone who is actually familiar with the series decide what is and is not important enough for an image; not someone who merely sees 5 images and deems that 6 too many. ~SnapperTo 22:01, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

This is definitely a touchy subject...I'd gotten hints before but really hadn't realized how sensitive it was until today. I'm really loathe to let the images go, but if they have to, then I plan on putting their source URLs into the articles as links. There's no sense in not providing people reading the articles a way to find an image if Wikipedia is the first stop they make. Also, this policy seems directed more at episode lists as opposed to character lists; I think a much stronger argument can be made for the latter.
