Re:Hey[edit]

Wow :) Pretty good I guess, haven't edited nearly as much as I used to but occasionally I will (and I was on a wikibreak myself for a while). But, wow, where were you moving from?   jj137 (talk) 02:38, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Hopefully this doesn't sound too stupid... are you even able to tell anymore that Hurricane Katrina was there? I've heard on the news and stuff about how much the city has recovered, but other than that, I don't know much...   jj137 (talk) 02:47, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's good to hear (I mean the good parts :)). Sorry that that probably sounded like a really stupid question, considering it was 3 years ago... I just wasn't sure how much better it had gotten since.   jj137 (talk) 03:02, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, OK. Well, it's nice to hear from you again, my talk page is pretty quiet these days...   jj137 (talk) 03:12, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's good to hear. Since (I think...) you're a member of WP:SOX, have you seen the "newly" redesigned front page?   jj137 (talk) 03:16, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's much different than the bland design it was before... maybe one day I'll try to change it to something similar for WP:REDS.   jj137 (talk) 04:15, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption offer[edit]

Hi Burner0718... Thanks for the adoption offer! I was away for a few days but this is great to see...

I have a question? Isn't the information that appears Forbes...a reliable, third-party publication, good for this article? As a private company, I don't think that Soave Enterprises would report this information. Also, what about...

http://www.detroitchamber.com/membership/goldGallery.asp?cid=156&scid=&rcid=1029

http://www.forgottenharvest.org/newsletters/Fall_07.pdf This .org mentions Soave on page 7 and the work they are doing with hydroponics and tomatoes.

http://www.bizjournals.com/washington/gen/company.html?gcode=324CE387965F421193890A1B4CEC0B34

Is there a way to incorporate these into the article created?

Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Freshmenz (talkcontribs) 22:21, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Huggle vs. Twinkle[edit]

No, I've seen a bunch of people use it. For reverting vandalism though, Huggle is definitely faster, which is why I guess most people use it now.   jj137 (talk) 22:00, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

True, it comes pretty close. I guess Huggle is easy because with one click it will revert and warn within about 2 seconds. (And it is much easier to find vandalism...) Unless you just prefer Twinkle, I would at least give Huggle a try ;)   jj137 (talk) 00:25, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously that's perfectly fine. There's a reason Twinkle is the most used in-browser vandalism reverter (I think).   jj137 (talk) 02:19, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
LOL. I went to block them but they were already blocked....   jj137 (talk) 02:36, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adopting[edit]

Burner, thanks for adopting. A couple of questions for you...how does the Wiki community prevent people from making claims that are not true in their articles (such as ex-athletes claiming they won something they did not)? Also, how do you prevent your accurate edits being overwritten or undone by someone who has a personal interest in the bio article (such as the person themselves or a relative)? thanks Coolhand01 (talk) 02:49, 24 August 2008 (UTC)coolhand01[reply]

Burner, thanks for the info...that helps. If I find a page that I think needs cleaning up, is the appropriate step to add the Accuracy dispute tag, then add my comments? Or is it preferable to recommend deletion? What is typically the best method to encourage clean up of the article so that it aligns with the good faith expectation? WikiProject College football September 2008 Newsletter[edit]

The College football WikiProject Newsletter
Issue X - September 2008
Project news
  • Two college football articles are featured article candidates and are looking for comments, criticism, and/or your support. Be sure to visit 2007 USC Trojans football team and 2005 Sugar Bowl to put in a few words.
  • The 2008-2009 college football season has kicked off, and it's time to kick into full gear! Teams ranked in the top 25 should have a single-season page or at the very least a separate football page. Rankings pages and the overall season page should be kept updated, as should the pages of players of note.
  • Heading out to a football game? Be sure to carry a camera and get pictures of players, teams, stadiums, and all the action and pageantry of college football. An excellent guide to taking pictures for WP:CFB can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject College football/Images. Even if you don't think a photo can be immediately used for an article, try uploading it to Wikimedia Commons so future article authors can use it.
  • The College Football Portal needs to be updated with featured articles and pictures. Do you have a great picture that illustrates the best of college football? Consider adding it to the featured image queue on the portal.
From JKBrooks85

Welcome to the latest issue of the College football WikiProject newsletter! I hope that you're enjoying regular updates about the goings on of college football on Wikipedia, but if not, feel free to add your name to the "no delivery" section on the newsletter signup page.

I encourage everyone to make regular visits to the College Football Portal and perhaps make it your Wikipedia entry page instead of using the Main Page as your gateway. Nominations for selected articles and pictures are always welcome, and can serve as a great way to show off that new article you just shepherded to Good Article status or the great picture you took the last time you were at a game.

Comments and suggestions on improving the newsletter are always welcome, and help me improve it on a monthly basis. Keep contributing and editing, and don't hesitate to contact me or post on the College Football Wikiproject talk page if you need help or just want someone to look over your article.

Motto of the day[edit]

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 03:37, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The weird thing is, that would have been the world record a while back, how old are you? I have friends who can run it in something like 11-12 seconds, but there is something I don't understand. Look at modern sprinters today, they're stacked and everything. Does all that additional muscle only help improve your time by a second or so? addition to Bush Doctrine page.[edit]

This "Bush Doctrine" thang is pretty big. I know there is a lot of debate about whether there is even such a thing as a "Bush Doctrine" given Charles Gibson's questioning of Sarah Palin about it.

I was hoping someone could update the entry with the information contained in this article by the fella who coined the term:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/12/AR2008091202457.html?hpid=opinionsbox1

I know some of it defends Palin and attacks Gibson/ Palin's attackers, but the article also contains a really succinct and complete definition of the term and description of its evolution. So I was hoping someone could add it to the Bush Doctrine article. It seems like an important topic in the present race and in a broader historical context. Hi Burner07, I love challenges! I started my next article and it was shut down - am I still your adoptee? I really don't feel it is fair how NawlinsWiki is acting, he is not open to communication. talk:NawlinWiki At this point the amount of time that I have spent on this CigarFox article is the principle, freedom of speech. I am staying within guidelines or at least trying to learn... and am bound by opinions with no open dialogue.

How is the CigarFox article different from JR Cigars? Also, how is the following article by NawlinsWiki Ice Records not promotional? "Ice Records lays claims to owning the largest catalog of Caribbean music in the world." Also, does this person work for Mayor Nagin or the City of New Orleans. I love Detroit as much as he loves New Orleans. I am just simple trying to understand any objectivity that exists here? 66.112.54.82 (talk) 13:11, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

do u know what a good weight for defensive end or MLB would be for freshman year in HS--DCsniper207 (talk) 02:22, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

football[edit]

doesnt a MLB have to be bigger than a defensive end only about 2 or 3 people are over 200 pounds in my grade --DCsniper207 (talk) 01:04, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

im in middle school i dont go to highschool untill next year and im going to bulk up until then because i dont weigh much the avg person weighs maybe 150 lb's--DCsniper207 (talk) 01:03, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

whats gmail--DCsniper207 (talk) 01:23, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i might be a good LB but i want to be at least 170 but i dont see it happening unless i get stuffed with fat and mucsle and defense sounds funner than offense im okay at catching you dont get that thrown to alot i dont like safety or CB im not big enough to be on the offensive line and i can throw about 40 yards but im not accurate--DCsniper207 (talk) 01:28, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

no i dont have gmail--DCsniper207 (talk) 01:29, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ill be back in a couple hours if not im asleep going to the mall c ya later --DCsniper207 (talk) 01:36, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i can throw about 40 yards but QB doesnt appeal to me only MLB,DE,FB,C,or NT but im not heavy enough to do any im going to try to bulk up as much as i can in muscle and fat im tall enough just not heavy enough i dont like TB because you run to much and WR you only get trhown to like 7 times and thats in your real good and if your QB you could get critized a lot for messing up games and i cant kick to save my life but im pretty fast like 4th or 5th in my grade i like MLB or DE the most im fast and strong just not heavy like i said im going to try to play for west albany in my freshman year their varsity team pwns their TB 5th in the nation and they have about two or three ranked people but im on the freshman team if i do play only the TB ever been a freshman and in varsity--DCsniper207 (talk) 04:34, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

what would be good ideas to to get more muscle right now with what i have i can bench press sit ups curl ups and push ups and i can work on my shoulders with the hand weights i own got any more ideas and could probably reach 200lbs before collage i have 4 years i want more muscle than fat but itll help me get their faster back in a couple minutes--DCsniper207 (talk) 04:55, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject College football December 2008 Newsletter[edit]

The College football WikiProject Newsletter
Issue XIII - December 2008
Project news
