Birdsall[edit]

for what remains to be done., see the article talk page. I have offered some specific suggestions. DGG 20:16, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    • What is needed:

The full specifications for a published book are exactly as given by an earlier ed. on the page. Include the date and the isbn. just as User:68.239.79.97 advised you.

  • then, you have to find out what schools use the book, and add if with refs. You do this by searching in google using advanced search and specifying the domain .edu ; what you are looking for is class sylllabi. Refer to them like this

[http:urlof the syllabus Name of college] . Since the article has been challenged, try to get at least two each for at least two of the books. Pick the most prestigious colleges if you have a choice. You may find reviews while doing the search. If so, add a link to them as well. Let me know when you;re done, and I'll check the format. I will watch this page--just tell me here.

Welcome![edit]

The XM25 Sniper Rifle Article[edit]

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to XM25 Sniper Rifle. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:XM25 Sniper Rifle with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:XM25 Sniper Rifle with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:XM25 Sniper Rifle saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. You and I both know that the article is the same exact article from snipercentral.com, the first website on Google when you look up XM25 Sniper Rifle. --ASDFGHJKL=Greatest Person Ever+Coolest Person Ever 14:05, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent speedy deletions[edit]

You appear to be nominating articles recently for speedy deletion without either leaving an edit summary to give your reasons or notifying the page's creators and editors. Please could you leave edit summaries when making edits, particularly potentially significant edits of this nature. Also, some of these recent nominations such as Solihull Moors FC and Fairey Pintail appear to have been made for no apparent reason; for nominations such as this, at the very least you need to give an explanation in the edit summary.

Also, could I please ask you not to add the {{stub}} template to articles; could I ask that you add the correct stub template if possible. This is important because it helps |WikiProjects identify articles that need expansion. You can view the full list of categories at WP:STUBS. Many thanksiridescenti (talk to me!) 21:11, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fairey Pintail[edit]

Can you please explain the cleanup tag you placed on this article, and what you think needs doing to the page on the articles Talk page? I was in the process of revising the page when you added this tag, as I was when you added the speedy deletion tags. Please realise that it does take people time to write articles, and just slapping delete tags seconds after the page is created is not particualy helpfulNigel Ish 21:48, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK - no harm done - and perhaps I should have added {inuse}} tags to avoid this kind of problem. Thanks Nigel Ish 18:29, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox Drive for the Firearms Wikiproject[edit]

Hello Chinese3126. The Firearms Wikiproject is having an infobox drive. The purpose of this is to ensure that most (if not all) of the articles within our scope have the relevant infoboxes. The start date will be May 28th. If you choose to participate, go to our project page and pick an article under the To-do list's Infobox section or look for firearm articles that need an infobox. Before you start editing an article, please cross it out on the list so that we don't have editor's work clashing. The drive will last for five days. If you are interested, please RSVP to LWF. Thank you, the Firearms Wikiproject. --Seed 2.0 09:12, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Wp sandbox, by Cool Blue, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Wp sandbox fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

Cross-space redirect

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Wp sandbox, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Wp sandbox itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 19:32, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Birdsall Viault[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Birdsall Viault, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. 24.4.253.249 07:54, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Contribution[edit]

Hello. I am currently trying to contribute to a battle in respect to giving a reason why a Viking force had to withdraw from a native attack, which I think was instrumental to the article itself and since the person in question received her place in history for that act. Its my understanding that Wikipedia is meant for contributions, but the people at that region see fit to leave the situation vague. They have told me that I cannot simply copy and past from references and, in short order, I re-wrote the small addition in my own words. I don't see what the problem here is, however, they simply revert my edits and give me vague conclusion to why they have done so. The site is intended to be used for non-commercial reproduction so we have no problems in copyright infringement. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Blocked for 24 hours[edit]

Edits like the ones you have been doing for the last day or so are a quick track to yet another indef block. The "blank" York articles are a waste of our time and effort to delete after your vandalism. SirFozzie (talk) 04:57, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

{unblock|I did not do vandalism, I simply tried to view the New York article when I made a typo. So therefore I made redirects for common typos of "New York", and some guy who was in a bad mood thought it was vandalism. I've done some other typo redirects before and have never been blocked like this.}

Please stand by as I contact the blocking admin. Sandstein (talk) 21:24, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ditto. My comment here. Let's see where this goes. – Luna Santin (talk) 21:33, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please look at his other (deleted) contributions around that time. Asking folks to unprotect "Fat ass" and "fatass" so he can redirect it to obesity? This was a path of unproductive, vandalistic edits. I would recommend against unblocking, but will leave it up to the deciding administrator. SirFozzie (talk) 21:36, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What is the problem with redirecting Fat ass, a derogatory slang term, to obesity? It would at least prevent Fat ass from acquiring content such as "joe is a fatass lolol". I see no conduct here that would warrant blocking. Sandstein (talk) 21:50, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The article was a protected delete. Chinese3126 wished us to unprotect it so he could redirect it. It is not an appropriate redirect. The one that you link has been deleted 10 times, for example. SirFozzie (talk) 21:53, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The article was protected precisely because it was repeatedly created with the sort of nonsense or attack content that a redirect would have prevented. This user's request to create that redirect may or may not have had merit, but it was certainly not vandalism. I remain unpersuaded by the merits of this block. Sandstein (talk) 22:00, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Truthfully, anyone who's searching for fat ass or fatass on WP isn't looking for obesity, he's looking for cheap laughs. I understand you believe the block was unmerited, that is why I said I wouldn't stand in the way of an unblock. SirFozzie (talk) 22:04, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Clearing an autoblock

Due to the nature of the block applied we need additional information before we can decide whether to unblock you. It is very likely that you are not personally blocked. If you are prevented from editing, it may be because you are autoblocked or blocked because of your IP address. Without further details there is nothing further we can do to review or lift your block. Please follow these instructions:

  1. If you have a Wikipedia account, please ensure that you are logged in.
Your account name will be visible in the top right of this page if you are.
If it isn't, try bypassing your web browser's cache.
  2. Try to edit the Sandbox.
  3. If you are still blocked, copy the {{unblock-auto|...}} code generated for you under the "IP blocked?" section.
  4. Paste the code at the bottom of your user talk page and click save.

If you are not blocked from editing the sandbox then the autoblock on your IP address has already expired and you can resume editing. - auburnpilot talk 00:27, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Yulii Khariton[edit]

A tag has been placed on Yulii Khariton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion of SafeCatch[edit]

A tag has been placed on SafeCatch, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of SafeCatch and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. B.Wind (talk) 02:26, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of FRS healthy energy[edit]

A tag has been placed on FRS healthy energy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. rootology (C)(T) 17:07, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Cheyenne Cherry, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. That's a big talk page, if you need any help archiving I would be glad to lend a hand :) Anyway, I noticed your edit on the article in the title there. I was wondering: do you have any proof (like references in newspapers or something) that Barack Hussein Obama has ever been referred to as just 'Barack Hussein' without also saying Obama afterwards?

I have been recently informed that apparently that making edits like this (like how I tried to redirect Elton Hercules to Elton John because his full name is Elton Hercules John. Apparently, it is okay to redirect full names including the middle name, or the name omitting the middle name, but even if nobody else is called Elton Hercules (or Barack Hussein) this is 'disruptive editing' and a mod can threaten to ban us for creating that redirect (or recreating it, as it were, if we disagree with it's speedy deletion because we wish to have time to contest it).

I am curious what your opinion on this issue is. I hope you do not mind, but I think what's fair is fair, and I may (with your acknowledgement) tag this for deletion to see if it will succeed as readily as the elimination of Elton Hercules. I just want you to know that I in know way think your redirect should be removed, but rather, I believe I am enforcing in the law as a moderator has told it to me. It's sort of like how cops may seize marijuana even if they think it should be legal, sometimes doing what you're told even in the most obscure situations may serve the greater good. Rather than disobeying the law, we find a situation in where obeying it shows its' most obvious ridiculous, so as to illustrate why changes in policy should be made. The article Marco Sneck has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Zero citations/references or external links. Person does not meet notability criteria per WP:BAND and even beyond would reliable sources located and needs improvements. Only connections per "what links here" are part of a broader intra-Wikipedia referencing setup of similar articles.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. daTheisen(talk) 12:22, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Glock fohtay requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. New deal for page patrollers[edit]

Hi Chinese3126,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
