WP:CVU status

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! About those edits, l only did it to remove the meme "Nice Boat".--Daipenmon (talk) 21:09, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

I'd suggest that you only remove any information regarding "Nice Boat.".-- クラウド668 21:48, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: Use of logos

You're right, and I think so too, but seeing as how this recently was brought up (by me) at WP:MOS-AM and the fact that nearly all VG articles use the cover art (and I couldn't think up anything to refute the GA reviewers reason for the cover art replacing the logo in the infobox in Air [see the talk page for details]), I chose to replace the infobox logo with the cover art, and so as to be consistent with the other Key VN articles, I changed them too. I'm not entirely thrilled with the idea, but lately I've gotten used to using cover art in some articles I've worked on.-- 00:40, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Well although I don't really like the idea of using cover art, as it seems like it's focusing solely on the games (despite the article titles like Clannad (visual novel)), but I guess I'll just give way as it seems like that's in fact a de facto policy among VG articles. -- クラウド668 02:17, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, "de facto" I think is a little too much, but the overwhelming majority are like that, but then again remember that those Key articles were like that since early 2007, and no one raised an issue even once about the logo usage when they were promoted to GA, but this time it happened. Btw, I originally pattered how to get VN articles up to GA by looking at Shuffle!'s example which was the first VN article to attain GA status in late 2006. That article uses a logo, which is why I also adopted it, but then that article is quite sub-par to Air's current version (the Shuffle! article doesn't even have a Development section, and neither did the Key articles until I started adding them in about a year ago) which I, if you haven't noticed yet, am going to use as a template for all other VN articles in the future. Air is almost a GA again anyway. However there are things I won't be able to get around, like the character sections. I've converted both Air's and Kanon's character sections into prose, and am going to do the same for Clannad and Little Busters!, but only because they have separate character list articles; if they didn't, then I would keep them in list format (generally, but since the sections were so tiny at both Moon. and Tomoyo After: It's a Wonderful Life, it was raised during the GA review to convert them into prose; this also happened with Ef: A Fairy Tale of the Two.). I'm also going to try to follow WP:VG's example more closely now, as in the end these are articles about video games no matter what, and they should be written in the manner of other VG articles. I say all this because I've noticed you using the Key articles as templates for True Tears and Yotsunoha, even going as far as to adopt my convention of combining setting and themes which, logically, should probably not go together, but sometimes the setting can add to the themes; in the end, I just didn't want two small sections so close together under level 2 or 3 headers, so I combined them way back when I was first pushing Kanon for GA. I have never seen anyone else do this, but since no one objected I kept doing it.
Anyway, I've been watching your good work on True Tears and I definitely think you can get it to GA if that is what you are intended; hell, I pushed both Moon. and Tomoyo After to GA and those articles don't even follow the convention I was using for all the other articles, and are much smaller and underdeveloped in comparison to the much more fledged out articles for Kanon and Air. Just keep on with it; and here I thought I was the only one trying to push VN articles to GA, since of all the VN articles that are GA now, I've worked on all of them but Shuffle!.-- 09:46, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I'm most definitely trying to work these two articles up to GA (might as well write some more in the future given how I have ten other visual novels installed but not yet touched), but then I have quite a little trouble. As you've noticed I am using the Key articles as templates (as well as former featured articles Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII), but as it seems, there's not really a backstory and a recurring theme in True Tears (except tears itself), so I couldn't write a section on story and settings themes. It doesn't have an original soundtrack release too, so I couldn't write a section about it. To get True Tears up to GA I think I'd at least need a story and music section to be written, without them I don't think I really would have a chance if I take it up to GAN. I'd also like to write the characters section in True Tears as prose like what you've been doing, It'll probably be easier to combine it with a story section like what you've done with Tomoyo After. -- クラウド668 17:10, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
That's weird that they wouldn't have released any music albums for the game, though the movie is bound to have at least a soundtrack I'd assume. And yes a story section is vital, and unless you want to expand the character sections greatly and split off to a separate article, I think going the Tomoyo After/Moon. route would work well with WP:VG reviewers, who I have found are looking for that sort of thing now. Also, if combined, I'd suggest also merging setting into it too as it's kind of small on True Tears and could be easily incorporated into a Plot and characters section. Not to mention finding more on reception; Tomoyo After may have little on reception too, but it was brought up during the GA process. And of course for Yotsunoha, themes need to be as well cited as possible or I doubt a GA reviewer would let it slide.-- 20:15, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Well they actually do have a maxi-single, containing the OP used in the game, and the radio show, and a single containing the ED used in the game released. I have these two ripped into my computer too. But otherwise I didn't find any other soundtracks, but there might be one for the movie. On the other hand, I'm actually rewriting the characters, settings and story section into prose form now, just adding some stuff here and there and doing some clean up now.-- クラウド668 20:21, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Oh okay, I would have been shocked to find that not even the OP/ED had been released. Also, (and this is rather important actually) I noticed you also adopting my quick-and-easy fair-use rationale for the images, but I only do that because I'm lazy and generally don't want to take the time to use {{fair use rationale}}, but this is what really should be used. It was brought up during the recent Air GA about the sparse FUR's, so I had to go through and update them all to the template, which isn't all that hard, just time consuming. I would suggest also converting to the template, at least in articles you're pushing for GA.-- 20:25, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip on the FUR template, I guess I'll start adopting it before I get too many pictures uploaded not using it. -- クラウド668 20:51, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

In case you were wondering about OMGWTFOTL's title...

Insani translated it as such. Their reasoning for the title (as written in the readme): "In the original Japanese, this is "Otoko Dogeza Jigoku" -- which translates

into something like "A Man's Prostration Hell". Our localization of the
title into "OMGWTFOTL" essentially has to do with the fact that the
"dogeza" part of this equation -- which is the most important part -- is
often symbolically written as orz or OTL. Take a healthy dose of OMG,
WTF (which you should be saying QUITE often as you play this), and BBQ, and,
well, you know. Finally, there is a recent PSP minigame collection known
as "BAITO Jigoku", which translates into "Work Hell". This title was given
the most stunningly good English localization ever -- "Work Time Fun". The
rest, as they say, is history."

Yeah, I had no idea. I thought OMGWTFOTL was the original title, but it is indeed quite a weird title translation. VDZ (talk) 20:33, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, that helps, thanks. I want to try to write it so it doesn't read like he hit her with the bike, which is what is seems like right now, but I'm having trouble with it.-- 03:22, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
