Question

I set up archives on the page Template talk:2009 swine flu outbreak table as follows: {{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveThis |archiveprefix=Template talk:2009 swine flu outbreak table/Archive |format= %%i |age=48 |index=no |maxarchsize=200000 }} This works fine. However, I copied to the text to a sub page of that page, Template_talk:2009_swine_flu_outbreak_table/Region_specific_discussions, with the idea of putting all the archived discussion into the same archive. The archiving doesn't seem to be actually happening on that page. I am guessing it is because the pointed to archive is not technically a sub directory of the current page. Is that correct and if so is there a way to make all the old discussion go into one archive?

Unintentional censorship by ClueBot

Cluebot recently auto-reverted what it took to be vandalism at John McClane. I assume that the reverted edit was innocent. It changed the quote for which that movie character is famous from a censored version to the actual quote. The actual quote, even containing profanity, would seem to be within the guidelines at WP:CENSORED, specifically "In particular, when a cited quotation contains words that may be offensive, it should not be censored." Since the quotation in question is rather famous for that character, I think the edit was the correct one. ClueBot, however mistook that well-intentioned edit for vandalism and reverted it to a censored version of the quote. My concern is that if I simply change the article back to the full quote, as the warned IP contributor did, then ClueBot will simply revert it again, ad infinitum. How can we correct the quotation so that ClueBot doesn't assume vandalism because of the profanity in the quote itself? Thanks. Age Happens (talk) 08:04, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Mistakenly erased a stub-tag

Sorry, as I've written above, I just wanted to remove the stub- status of my article about my home village "Kundl", but I mistakenly erased the stub- tag of "villages in Tyrol" itself and so I got a warning from ClueBolt. It's my first time editing, so sorry for my mistake. But is there anyhow I could remove the stub- status of my article or do just administrators have the right to do that? All you have to do to remove the stub tag is to remove the stub template from the page. For Kundl, it was {{Tyrol-geo-stub}}, which I have now removed. Anyone can remove it, presuming the article is no longer a stub, and you were correct that this article is not any longer. But anyone can remove it, you don't have to be an admin. Dates, archiving

What do most bots use to track latest changes to sections? I assume that they don't diff the history, but rather pattern match on the timestamps. Is this correct? M 21:09, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Well, ClueBot III just reads the page, sees it's config template, and extracts how long a thread has to be idle for archival. Once it knows this number, it opens the last revision before that time. Then it diffs the two, and finds sections that are equal. Those are the sections it archives. -- Cobi^(t|c|b) 16:38, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

The problem lies with the MediaWiki software, not ClueBot. It seems if X reverts a page and Y tries to revert the same page a moment later, Y may receive the "rollback successful" message even though X beat Y to the revert. --Ixfd64 (talk) 22:42, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it could run over on simple. Though, does simple get enough vandalism to warrent the effort of setting it up and maintaining it? Also, some of the heuristics would need tweaking to fit with the common vandalism profile of simple. -- Cobi^(t|c|b) 09:06, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the answer. Since I asked the question, an anti-vandal bot has been set up on simple, so setting this up for simple won't be necessary - at least at the moment. Revert id 692929

Not a false positive (according to your form): This reverted all the previous edits by User:Ranger625 even though only the last was vandalism! I know it is unusual for a logged-in user to make two good edits before vandalising, but if ClueBot's revert would be caught as vandalism by ClueBot it should probably not make the revert. Rehoboth Carpenter family

Regarding Rehoboth Carpenter family - We have surveyed, we have compromised, we have repeatedly asked to user Iwanafish to communicate. He refuses with his snide comments and reversions to non-wiki versions. We have warned him "offically" a lot more than 3 times. Repeatedly, we have asked for mediation, we have asked for help and I do not know who else to ask. Can you pass this up the chain of editors?

According to my user page, Cluebot seems to think that I vandalized a page called "Orange Crush" which I did not. This is a mistake on someone's part, but I am not involved. Your 'reporting false positives' page is a sham. Submissions are not really reported, they are responded with a snappy comeback. I find this despicable - If I go through the hoops to protest an injustice, you then insult me by ignoring my protest. I was trying to create a redirect to Michael Whitmarsh. That way if a user searches using his full name, they will be sent to the Mike Whitmarsh article instead of to the special page. Sloppy false positive and broken link in your reporting tool

If you're going to run an automated tool, please make sure it works properly instead of incorrectly tagging edits like this one as "redirecting article to non-existant [sic] page".

Please also fix the link " http://www.acm.uiuc.edu/~carter11/cluebot.php " that is given to the user after forcing them to type in numbers to deal with the "reporting" mechanism.

Falsely Accused

Since I am not allowed to report a warning in error to anyone & since there is no link to Cluebot's page that allows me to do this, I shall post it here:

I have no idea what happened, but I have never made nor wish to make any entry to Aston Villa football club's page. I'm an esteemed motor racing researcher & only do edits on racing drivers on this site. So I do not know what this is all about & am quite unhappy about being warned over something I have never done. Having now seen the change I am alleged to have done, I find this laughable accusation, especially as I support Reading FC.

Bad list suggestion

Consider adding the term 'uncyclopedia' to your list of bad words to detect. See Special:AbuseFilter/103 which shows that of the 95 of the edits which contained the term, all of them were vandalism.--Otterathome (talk) 06:33, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
