Grimes sisters

I reverted your most recent edit to the Grimes sisters article, and wished to explain to you why I did so. First of all, The Giant Puffin, the user who added the template, is not a vandal, and it is in bad faith to accuse them of being such. The mistake of adding their name to the article was remedied by myself. The article is largely unsourced and lacks references/citations/footnotes/etc. There are only two external links, none of which are connected to the article itself, though it may be true that some of the article's information came from these two links. Overall, there is no verifiability, which is necessary for an article to be considered sourced (WP:A). If you think you can help with the research in this article, and help provide reliable sources so that it will be credibly attributed, by all means do so. It's a very interesting article, and I would like to see it more fleshed out so as to learn more. Take care, María (habla conmigo) 20:55, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

I'm afraid you're misinterpreting the terms. An External link is not the same as a source. You should read Wikipedia:Citing Wikipedia in order to better understand how articles should be properly sourced and statements verified, usually by inline citations. You may believe that the article is sourced, but it isn't, and certainly not by the Crime Library, which rarely cites its own sources, I'm afraid. Suitable, reliable sources would be considered news articles, books, primary sources such as court documents, etc. So as you can see, whether or not I have read the external links is irrelevant. The reason why I have not brought this subject up on the talk page is because I acknowledge the fact that you are perhaps new to Wikipedia, and perhaps unfamiliar with how things need verification so it does not appear as original research. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course. I suggest you read the links I have provided, think about your research, and rethink and accept the fact that this article is, as it currently stands, unsourced. If you have any questions, let me know. For now I'll keep the template off the page, but remember that I am not the only one who believes the unreferenced template belongs, and that it was originally placed there by a different editor, one who you called a vandal. Non-free use disputed for Image:Imreedfish.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Imreedfish.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 14:44, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Orion 19, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://medlibrary.org/medwiki/Orion_17. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 18:38, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Iran rocket irilv.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 21:47, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Speck

Your edit to this article, and the edit summary you used, are highly inappropriate. I added a general hidden note regarding the addition of trivia to this article, which is becoming more of a standard for articles of high profile murderers, and you responded with a direct, personal note in the body of the article, which is not in keeping with dealing with issues that you have with the edits of others. The note and summary, plus the reference to it not being good behavior, violate WP:AGF, WP:Civil, WP:Etiquette, and border on a personal attack. In the future, if you have an issue with edits made by others, kindly take it to the talk page for discussion.

Call it what you will, "In popular culture" or "Cultural references", it is still trivia, which is discouraged by Wikipedia, but still requires citations from reliable sources. Observation of a film or television show plot is not a reliable source. Removing this unsourced trivial material was, in fact, totally in keeping with WP:Trivia and with WP:Cite. The first, a reference to a Cheap Trick song, claims the song was about Speck but all references were removed to respect families, although there is no citation given for that claim, and in fact, the song does not mention Richard Speck or circumstances related to his crime. The comment regarding the song Born to Raise Hell is nothing but speculation on the part of the contributor. It's trivia. Two references to plots that are similar to the Speck murders are also unsourced conjecture, which is original research and unacceptable by Wikipedia guidelines. Finally, the use of Speck's picture or name in brief moments in films unrelated in any other way to Speck is trivia. Unsourced trivia, which by WP guidelines can and should be removed. I am removing the trivia section as unsourced speculative material. One song is being moved to the media section. In the future, again, take this sort of issue to the talk page and desist from using the article to launch personal messages. Wildhartlivie (talk) 23:11, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed that you uploaded the image Image:Atv docked real.jpg as a fair-use copyrighted image from ESA. If you look in the top right corner of the image, you will see that there is a NASA watermark. This proves that NASA created the image, and therefore it is Public Domain. I have mentioned this on the image's talk page. Do you mind if I change the tag to {{PD-NASA}}? --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 22:04, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

  • The logo can easily be mistaken for detail on the Zvezda module unless you know what you are looking for. If you look closely, the lightest detail in the top right corner spells out the word "NASA". I've changed the licence tag on the image to {{PD-NASA}}, and suggested that it should be moved to Commons.

SpaceXpla.net

I reverted changes that you made to SpaceX and Falcon 1 because the sole reference was a blog entry at SpaceXpla.net. Linking to blogs should be avoided on Wikipedia, unless they're either notable in themselves or official sources. Additionally, SpaceXpla.net appears to be your personal blog, and linking to it (except on your user page) would constitute a conflict of interest and original research. I also left a note at Talk:Falcon_1 explaining the changes. I appreciate that you are more informed about the goings-on at SpaceX than most, so please don't let my reverts discourage you from contributing to these articles, but you should provide better references next time. Wronkiew (talk) 23:39, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Your ideas for referencing the official timeline, noting the discrepancy between the video termination and the expected stage separation time sound fine to me. Just make sure you reference official sources, news articles, and other sources described at WP:RS. If you plan to go out on a limb and imply that there is additional downlinked video that was cut from the webcast, or that the official story is invalidated by the early cutoff of the video feed, then you should also read Wikipedia:Verifiability very carefully. I look forward to seeing your additions. Wronkiew (talk) 07:30, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

I see that you added the link back in to the external links section of SpaceX. Please remove it, for the reasons I gave earlier. Also, repeatedly adding links to your own site on Wikipedia could be interpreted as spam. You can add the link to your user page, or wait for it to be added it when it meets the guidelines for inclusion described at WP:EL. If you think I'm wrong about this, also add an explanation of why SpaceXpla.net should be included in the article talk page. Wronkiew (talk) 16:41, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for removing the link. I appreciate your reasonableness in working with the other editors on these pages. Wronkiew (talk) 21:31, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:GrimesCrimeScene.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:GrimesCrimeScene.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:31, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Atv docked cgi.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Atv docked cgi.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --TheDJ (talkcontribs) 13:54, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi ColdCase. Thank you for your support. As i told I, Englishman before, I want to help at least a little bit, but when I started reading about editing, translation, proofreading or whatsoever, there were so many things and information that I got lost. What i wanted to do about your article was to Edit it but since there were some parts that I didn't understand because i thought It needed more information. I know what you mean, I don't want to ruin the text and things like that. Now I found that there was an article that needed editing, but when i got in, i saw that it was completed or something like that, however, i found many things to be corrected. Anyways, thank you again for your help and the answer =) LadyGreensleeves (talk) 16:24, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on WikiTimeScale requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. LiteralKa (talk) 02:14, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

WikiTimeLine discussion (follow-up from Aug 2008)

Hello! I am happy to notice that Graeme Bartlett removed the speedy deletion tag from the article WikiTimeScale. I think it is an important extension and I was wondering why nobody activated it in Wikipedia. I noticed that you have started a discussion in 2008 about its activation, but could not find any follow-up. I am mainly active in Persian Wikipedia, and I was very interested in having this extention there, but I heard if it has never been activated in other sister projects, it would be hard to start. Would you mind telling me if there has been any other discussions after 2008, and if there is a reason this extension has never been activated. Thank you, FakhredinBlog (talk) 13:16, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Activating WikiTimeLine extension on Wikipedia

Hello! I am contacting the responsible people to have the WikiTiimeLine activated on Wikipedia. The reactions are very positive, but there are some questions that only the author of this software can answer. Are you the author, or in any way have contact with him/her? Here is the link to my request and the discussion that follows. I hope to hear from you very soon. Many thanks. FakhredinBlog (talk) 15:37, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Three kind of calendars are in use in fa.wikipedia; Gregorian calendar, Solar Hijri calendar, and Lunar Hijri calendar. It would be very nice to be able to integrate all of them in WikiTimeLine. But, first thing first! Let's do the updates that people in Bugzilla are requesting. I'm not a programmer, but please let me know if I can assist you in any way. I will be very happy to help.
