Hi, Apologies for taking so long to reply to your question on my talk page about Cogges Manor Farm. You are correct that the reason I removed the material added was because it was copied directly from another source (from the Farm's website, if I remember correctly). Wikipedia cannot generally accept material copied thus, for two reasons:

  1. the possibility of hosting material which violates copyright. As anyone can contribute to Wikipedia, we have no way to confirm that someone has permission to add copyrighted material, or even to confirm that they work for the organisation they claim to.
  2. Material produced by an organisation is often not suitable for Wikipedia (even if we have permission to publish it), because it is - understandably - not written in a tone suitable for a neutral encyclopedia article.

That said, if you would like to donate material (text or images) for Wikipedia to use, there are instructions on doing so on this page. Otherwise, what I would recommend is reading Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest, which suggests means of editing articles for an organisation you have a connection to. The article actually looks good at the moment, and has multiple independent reliable sources, which is excellent. You may wish to mention your connection to the museum on the article talk page if you wish to make further edits there, and suggest any controversial or significant changes on the talk page. Changes such as improvements to spelling, punctuation and grammar, addition of reliably sourced text written by yourself in a neutral tone or removing inaccurate information is generally not a problem. If you have any questions, please feel to ask me on my talk page. We also have a help desk, where experienced editors are always available. I hope this information is useful, and thank you for your contributions to the article! --Kateshortforbob talk 13:37, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cogges Manor Farm[edit]

Hi, just flagging up that I've edited the Cogges article so that the lead describes what the farm is about, which it didn't actually do before, just going straight into some history. Now I've done that description based on what I can ascertain, but the farm's own website is actually a bit vague so I could be wrong. Probably worth checking that what I've done is right. Thanks. Oh, also on a general housekeeping note, it isn't considered good practice here to mark non minor edits as minor edits for reasons explained here. Basically, to the people working over at Recent Changes, big edits marked as minor arouse suspicion about the motives behind that discrepancy (a favourite trick of vandals!) which then leads to people checking your edits unnecessarily. Just an FYI. Thanks again danno_uk 21:48, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the thanks![edit]

I think that the article is starting to look really good now and that's primarily down to your contributions, so well done! danno_uk 16:17, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Cogges Manor Farm may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
