{{safesubst:require subst|template=New Page Reviewer granted|1=

Hi Cukie Gherkin. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Steps such as checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline are mandatory and will take a few minutes per article.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any required steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. ~~

Fire Emblem Three Houses & Three Hopes

[edit]

I wish to ask if you know about Three Houses and Three Hopes? Jayaltwriter2004! (talk) 03:07, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Y-yeah? - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 03:08, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm glad you do. I'm actually trying to do something about the character sheet. As you may have notice, the sheet of the characters looks a bit messy. So I'm trying to fix it up. I have already made the new and improved changes on my sandbox, and I was hoping to ask if you can help aid in my contribution on fixing the character sheet. Jayaltwriter2004! Marth article

[edit]

Just in case, you want me to reply on your talk page instead of my own, I'll make this.

Do you want me to link the script of Shadow Dragon and Mystery of the Emblem as I'm very familiar with both? The various wikis as well as fansites like Serenesforest have the scripts.

For reference on Ylisse, its in the location of the Kingdom of Archanea and the Japanese term for Halidom (ア聖王国), is the same used for Archanea in Japan and in fan-translations is rendered as "The Holy Kingdom of Archanea". Where did you hear that Ylisse was Altea?

Fire Emblem: Awakening uses lore from Marth's game very loosely and development indicates the connection was added in late, even forgetting the function of the titular Fire Emblem, so along with its homophobic elements, its controversial in the fandom. Keep in mind, Shouzou Kaga did not work on it and he was the sole writer of those games. Delsait (talk) 20:26, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

To reiterate, I didn't write the plot summary, that was in place before I recreated the article. I cannot speak to the people who wrote it. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 20:28, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure?
I looked at the history and the only part of Ylisse being Altea was your own edit, for clarification, this was the version prior to the page being deleted.
By the way, how much info should we have on Marth's in universe history, I think we should mention his archenemy and marriage at least?
On a different Fire Emblem subject, do you think Awakening really needs that many character articles as its only one game? Delsait (talk) 20:34, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The edits were made on a user draft page by multiple editors: User:Cukie Gherkin/Marth - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 20:41, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like it was added by User:Pokelego999, I'll send a message to them.
That reminds me, how much information should we have on Marth's history in the article? Like putting the important stuff in the article would help prevent false information like that from being added. Marth's games are also not very popular in the west, unlike Japan and his sequels were never localized, so western Nintendo fans are prone to misconceptions about Marth, hence why I think adding some stuff would be good for the article.
Which Fire Emblem games have you played by the way? Delsait (talk) 20:48, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As far as content goes, I would recommend sticking to the more basic elements of his story beats. For instance, we don't need to know about Marth's progress through each chapter, just what's important to understand his story. As far as Fire Emblem games I've played, I've played Binding Blade, Blazing Sword, Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance, Awakening, Fates Birthright, and Three Houses. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 20:51, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Would you be cool with adding:
  • Mention of Marth's Archenemy Medeus, the King of Manaketes.
  • Archvillain Gharnef
  • Marth's indirect ancestor/great uncle, Anri whom fought Medeus as well as the conflicts between humans and Dragons/Manakete.
  • Marth's friendship with Hardin.
  • Some of his other close comrades like childhood friend, Merric and Jagen, his retainer and fatherly figure.
  • Marth's humble and merciful nature.
  • Marth re-assembling the legendary Fire Emblem, thus breaking its curse and preventing dragons from the destroying the world.
  • Marth moving to the kingdom of Archanaea and uniting all the Kingdoms.
  • Marth's marriage to Caeda.
You can also see Fire_Emblem:_Shadow_Dragon_and_the_Blade_of_Light and Fire_Emblem:_Mystery_of_the_Emblem for the essential story beats. Delsait (talk) 20:59, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure why such a big deal was made over a minor mistake such as this, but in any case, that's my mistake, then. I got the names switched up by accident while adding that information. I would suggest fixing the error and leaving a note in the edit summary rather than going to the user's talk page and asking "where they got that information" like it's some sort of crime, at least for the future. It can be easily interpreted for rudeness.
I will say that Awakening being "controversial" for making Ylisse be based on Archanea and not having involvement from Kaga has no bearing on the information's canonicity or anything similar, as Fire Emblem has no strict "canon" due to the fact most games in the series don't acknowledge each other, and those that do don't really consider any of the games "non-canon." I'm not sure why this information is being brought up in this discussion. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 20:59, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How did you get the names switched up, I don't understand? Like was it just assumed that Ylisse was Altea because Chrom and Lucina were mentioned as descended from Marth? Also keep in mind, Marth is only mentioned in one support in the game and there, its stated the Ylisse royals are only "distantly" descended from him.
Sorry if my message came off as rude, that wasn't my intent. But Marth's games aren't popular in the west and his sequels were never localized here. Thus combined with Awakening being confusing and inconsistent, Marth's article here has been prone to massive amounts of misinformation on Wikipedia since I was a child. Thus I want to keep the article and the information accurate.
Its not my place to bring canon in the articles, but basically Fire Emblem: Awakening has alot of Plot holes and Retroactive continuity when it comes to the past games. Marth and the Archanea games aren't really very relevant at all to the plot, they're a foot note at best. Like the legendary hero mentioned all the time in Awakening that Chrom and Lucina are trying to live up too, is the First Exalt (read about him here) whom is a separate character from Marth, yet copies much of his history, even down to the same wife matching Caeda down to personality and using Caeda's personal weapon. Delsait (talk) 21:07, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Altea and Archanea just have very similar names? Like, it was a minor typo I made while I was writing the section. I feel you're very much blowing the severity of this out of proportion.
The First Exalt bit is interesting, primarily because it makes zero sense given he literally just has Marth's history. Even so, Chrom is mentioned to be a descendent of the "Hero King" in canon a decent bit, at least last time I saw gameplay of the games, anyway. Even if he's only distantly related, that relation is still relatively relevant to the plot given Chrom's daughter, Lucina, literally disguises as Marth during the story, and uses her similarities to him to pass off as him. I'd correct the bit to reference the First Exalt, but I'd still include Marth's association to Chrom given it isn't exactly an obscure factoid that is still decently relevant to reader understanding. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 21:26, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but to a big fan of Shadow Dragon and Mystery of the Emblem whom has edited the articles for a long time to keep out information, stuff like that can be very frustrating. Like back when we had a character page for the Archanea titles, people kept trying to add that Marth's Archenemy, was just a pawn of the final boss of Awakening, even though no canon, anywhere, supported this at all!
Even on the Fire Emblem wikis, for a long time, people kept adding stuff like the "this class known for wearing helmets, wears a helmet in Fire Emblem: Awakening" and at one point, fandom staff, added a "video" on Marth was just footage of Lucina with Awakening information. Even official sites like screened or a custom made sword purchasing site give out false information on Marth based on Super Smash Bros or Awakening. Thus it can be frustrating to read for fans and sometimes, they may feel the need to correct the people unintentionally spreading the misinformation.
Again I apologize, I had no wish to offend. Also I realize I forgot to mention that I did correct the Marth article here and removed the false info.
I've played Awakening and gone over scripts more than once, Chrom is only mentioned as Marth's distant descendant in one easily missed and optional conversation between Male Robin (Fire Emblem) and Tiki, everything else talks about his relation to the First Exalt and not the Hero King. Outside of the spotpass content with his ethereal clone, Marth the Hero King is really talked about in relation to Lucina's disguise.
Awakenings development was troubled and the Archanea connection seems to have been a late addition, so its likely either the First Exalt was Marth earlier in development but they wanted a new dragon or one of the writers got confused as Awakening has a number of plot inconsistencies with its own script.
Anyhow Marth plays a very minor part in Awakening, so I feel the game's mention in his article should be minimal. Awakening also isn't something people looking for information on the Marth on wikipedia would want to spend time on, leave that for the three character articles for Awakening, we already have.
So one mention of Lucina being his distant descendant and wearing a disguise based on him can work, but I prefer no more. Delsait (talk) 21:45, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, it's not my intention to be a part of the "misinformation" crowd. It was a slip-up on my part, so I apologize about the inconvenience. I've taken a look over the article's current plot information, and it looks pretty solid, though I feel the information about the straight blade of the Falchion isn't necessary and mostly trivia. Not sure if that was you who added that or Cukie, but I do feel that'd be worth cutting. Otherwise, I have no objections to the current summary outside of the need for citations in certain areas. Good work. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 21:58, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Its alright, I accept your apology and I appreciate you for understanding.
The Falchion not being a Falchion isn't something I added and I think should be deleted, its not relevant, particularly as Fire emblem does that all the time. In all the exact same games with the Falchion, we have a spear named Gladius and a book that creates wind called Excalibur, that is only the two off the top of my head, there's all sorts of things like that.
Basically things have names that don't match their real world or mythological counterparts is the norm. Marth himself has a name that's a mistranslation of Mars, when he's shown as peace loving.
I feel the Marth article still needs a little more essential information on Marth's story.
Some of my thoughts on the essentials are:
  • Mention of Marth's Archenemy Medeus, the King of Manaketes (Dragons) and his alliance being the one that invades Marth nation. (Super important)
  • A mention of Evil Wizard Gharnef, whom is the other main antagonist whose actions drive the plot. (very important)
  • Marth's indirect ancestor/great uncle and the original wielder of Falchion, Anri whom fought Medeus as well. (Fairly important)
  • Marth's friendship with Hardin, another royal and the co leader of League Marth forms. (Some mention of it is important, like a mention of Hardin in the brief summary of the first game, it becomes very important to the sequel).
  • Some of his other close comrades like his love interest, Caeda and Jagen, his retainer and fatherly figure. (Important for later details)
  • Marth's humble and merciful nature. (Important to summarizing his personality)
  • Marth re-assembling the legendary Fire Emblem, thus breaking its curse and preventing dragons from the destroying the world. (Super important, the game is called Mystery of the Emblem for a reason).
  • Marth moving to the kingdom of Archanaea and uniting all the Kingdoms. (Very important to summarizing how the story ends.
  • Marth's marriage to Caeda.
You can also readFire_Emblem:_Shadow_Dragon_and_the_Blade_of_Light and Fire_Emblem:_Mystery_of_the_Emblem for the essential story beats. Delsait (talk) 05:11, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
