Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Cullen! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:

There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk Pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)

I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Ryan. 06:39, August 2, 2005 (UTC)

  • Erm... you're welcome. I don't know if you were being sarcastic when you thanked me. That article about form letters made them seem awful. :P Ryan 10:20, August 2, 2005 (UTC)

Peer review for the list of baryons[edit]

Hi,

I noticed that you had an interest in particle physics, so I wondered you could head over the List of baryons and Talk:List of baryons pages a give some feedback. I'm currently trying to bring that article to Featured List status, but I'm not a particle physicist so I probably made half a dozen mistakes. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. WikiProject Physics participation[edit]

You received this message because your were on the old list of WikiProject Physics participants.

On 2008-06-25, the WikiProject Physics participant list was rewritten from scratch as a way to remove all inactive participants, and to facilitate the coordination of WikiProject Physics efforts. The list now contains more information, is easier to browse, is visually more appealing, and will be maintained up to date.

If you still are an active participant of WikiProject Physics, please add yourself to the current list of WikiProject Physics participants. Headbomb {ταλκWP Physics: PotW} 14:57, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Teahouse Response[edit]

Cullen, thank you for your Jan. 24 reply to my query on Teahouse. I appreciate your feedback and POV on this, and hoping that we can discuss the details of my requests, though please note that I’m prepared that not all of the edits I initially requested will be made, based on the feedback. However, I CAN tell you that a number of the edits I’ve requested do have media coverage or credible third-party sources that support public interest in the facts, which to me would indicate that they are of notable interest and therefore should be made to the article. If you review these and agree, would you be able to help with making the edits to the Manulife article? I’m happy to provide the PDF news articles to you, if you could kindly let me know where to send them. I want to make sure that everything is clearly and properly referenced. Specifically, here are the edits – from my original submission – where I have called out the media coverage or outside sources to support:

1. Addition: In 1996, the company entered an agreement with Sinochem to form Shanghai -based Zhong Hong Life Insurance Co. Ltd., China’s first joint venture life insurance company, and was granted a license that made it the second foreign insurer to be allowed re-entry into China. (Sources include direct reference on Insurance Hall of Fame’s website (link: http://www.insurancehalloffame.org/laureateprofile.php?laureate=138) and Rod McQueen’s 2009 book Manulife – How Dominic D’Alessandro built a global giant and fought to save it, Toronto: Penguin Group, ISBN 978-0-670-06920-0 [p. 110, par. 2]). 2. Addition: In 1901, Manulife amalgamated with the Temperance and General Life Assurance Company , a Toronto-based Canadian life insurer that provided preferred rates to abstainers of alcohol. (Source is http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/articles/manulife-financial-corporation. Given that this on is already on a reputable encyclopaedic website supported by one of the top-ranked media outlets in Canada, Maclean’s magazine, there should be no reason why this can’t be included, for consistency of information.) 3. Addition: In 1984, Manulife announced that it had acquired Waterloo, Ontario-based Dominion Life Assurance Company: a deal that included the purchase of all of the outstanding stock of the company from Lincoln National. Dominion Life was founded in Waterloo in 1889, and Manulife made a commitment to the community to retain a significant presence in Waterloo. In 1988, Manulife opened a new five-storey office building at 500 King St. North in Waterloo to house its Canadian Division. (Sources are published news articles: Welsh, Lawrence (October 30, 1984). "Dominion Life is acquired by Manulife". Globe and Mail; Strathdee, Mike (July 16, 1988). "Moving experience: Manufacturers Life relocates in stages". Kitchener-Waterloo Record.) 4. A critical update is also required to the reference to “40 Chinese cities” – I had requested this be updated to 50, as that is pure fact (source: http://www.manulife.com/public/news/detail/0,,artId=147602&lang=en&navId=630002,00.html), however this one got missed in the discussion. It absolutely needs to be updated – unless you disagree, I will make that edit myself. Jnuwame (talk) 21:32, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It was just now fixed...[edit]

...Wow - what a chore. Looking at the steps that were taken, I doubt I could've fixed it on my own. Hope that answers the question you asked on my TP. Atsme📞📧 02:02, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Atsme, do you mean to post this at Cullen328's talkpage? This user has not been active since 2009. Nightfury 13:08, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well, duh on me!! *lol* Yes. Thank you for catching it, Nightfury. Atsme📞📧 13:13, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I made the exact same mistake today, just differently, high five! InedibleHulk (talk) 22:29, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting an eye on this....[edit]

Hi Cullen, content about inappropriate contact by teaching staff was added to Westview High School (San Diego) by an IP on November 15th [1]. I came across it because another IP added additional names today which I reverted as the sources did not support the additions. I also moved the content from the lead to the Administration and Staff section, made a slight wording change and removed the all names due to BLP concerns. However, I am still uncomfortable the wording and debating if it belongs in this particular article as the sources are reporting about a broader issue with the district and the state using the Westview instances as examples among other instances at other schools. At the same time, I do not believe it should be whitewashed. Do you mind taking a look (or any talk page stalkers)? Thanks. S0091 (talk) 22:44, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
