close-paraphrasing on Ciclesonide

I see you removed that tag without comment (and that you in general are not using WP:EDITSUMMARY to explain many of your edits). I re-added the tag to it, after checking that the problem still exists (as it did when I added it previously). DMacks (talk) 21:21, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

I just did a plagiarism check on the whole thing and none of it to my knowledge was even close paraphrasing. Before insulting how many edit summaries I write could you please point out where there is close paraphasing. Secondly, in a nutshell, "limited close paraphrasing may also be permitted as fair use." "Close paraphrasing rises to the level of copyright infringement when taking is substantial. Depending on the context and extent of the paraphrasing, limited close paraphrase may be permitted under the doctrine of fair use; close paraphrase of a single sentence is not as much of a concern as an entire section or article. Also, as I said before if you would tell me what sentence you talking about I could add quotes or even go back to the source and fix it. Dan653 (talk) 21:30, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
I just searched a phrase from one of the paragraphs and found that the whole paragraph was word-for-word from one of the ref abstracts. So it's even worse than I originally tagged (I had thought there were only key phrases strung together with some changes). I added the quote-marks and cite to clarify this one. And the "The safety and efficacy..." paragraph is cloes-paraphrase of the cited FDA announcement ref (currently footnote #3). So nearly the whole article is extended quotes or nearly-so, not a single sentence here and there in an extended written-from-scratch prose. Those ideas can certainly be written differently, interagrated together, or even some parts omitted without loss of useful information. Fair use is only permitted (or only is fair by definition) when there's no other way to convey the info or we're trying to discuss the actual non-free content itself (rather than writing new content based on it). Okay, thanks for the info. Dan653 (talk) 21:46, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Editzzz

Hey Dan, No im not a vandal. Any tips on how to use Wiki and what pages to use? Also i would like to help clean up wiki, How do i do this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Editzzz (talkcontribs) 09:33, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi Editzzz!
I would love to give you tips and help you clean up Wikipedia, but I will be away for the next three (3) days and access to a computer will be sparse if at all. I'll be able to help you on Saturday by giving you tips and sharing my knowledge. My 1st tip is to sign talk pages, like this with 4 ~. As such it turns into this: Dan653 (talk) 01:57, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
P.S. Happy editing!
Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question.

To help clean wikipedia I first went to [1] and clicked IP's contribs[2]. From there I would click diff on an article and if it was vandalism I undid it. When I hit about 500 edits I requested rollback rights WP:RBK , which allows you to use Huggle a very helpful anti-vandalism tool. I hope all this helps and happy editing :) 00:51, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

Academy Coordinators

Hey Dan, I replaced your name on the "Project Coordinators" part of the Academy Page with [[User:Example]] again. That line was literally Copied and Pasted from WP:ACOACH, and I don't know if it makes sense to have coordinators, but it's probably best if we don't just decide to add ourselves by fiat. Hope you understand, and thanks for helping with the project! Cheers!Achowat (talk) 18:37, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

I gotcha nbd. 18:39, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Sweet, thanks. And just a note, when you're signing a Talk, you should use 4 Tildes (~~~~) instead of the 5 you've been using (~~~~~), as 5 only leaves a timestamp, not your sig+timestamp. Achowat (talk) 18:42, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
It's my talk so I feel that people will get that duh I'm signing my own talk page, but of course I would use four tildes if it was any talk page, but my own. 18:45, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
But as there are lots of contributions here from other people too, it would make life much easier for readers if you signed your contributions in the normal way. Otherwise the reader has to go through: "Who wrote that? No signature. Ah, this editor has the habit of not signing stuff on his own talk page. Must be from Dan653." Please just save yourself that 5th keystroke and give your signature. Thanks.PamD 08:03, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
Okay. Dan653 (talk) 17:38, 6 April 2012 (UTC) tada

Glitch in edit

I noticed two strange glitches in your edits at Wikipedia:Vandalism (which I fixed).

There was some wikitext "See [[Wikipedia:Requests for permissions*]]" where the * was actually a Unicode right-to-left mark (hex 200E). Your edit changed that character to wikitext ‎ which, while technically correct, is not wanted.

In the text "A warning may even dissuade", the last word was changed to disse.

This is FYI: no need for a reply (if you do reply, I will see it and talkback is not wanted thanks). Johnuniq (talk) 23:16, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Andrzej Załucki

Hello Dan653. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Andrzej Załucki, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Seems notable to me, also please say if you are tagging things for deletion in your edit summaries . Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 19:46, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Okay, will do next time if it comes up. 20:59, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Hallo, please take more care with your editing. In this edit there were several problems:

  1. Please note that the {{stub}} tag does not take a date parameter. If you add one it just causes extra work for other editors who have to delete it.
  2. {{unreferenced}} takes a date parameter, but you need to add "date=". What you added resulted in the text "This April 2012 does not cite any references or sources."
  3. Please always look at the article after you have edited it to make sure that you have produced the effect you intended: if you had checked, you would not have left that unref tag in that state.
  4. Your edit summary of "(Adding/removing wikilink(s))" was inappropriate. You were not adding wikilinks but adding two templates (one with an inappropriate date parameter, one with an incorrectly added date parameter). If you don't know the difference, please slow down and read some documentation before carrying on doing things you do not understand. Thanks. PamD 07:58, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

And it wasn't a one-off: in edit you've added dates using "april" instead of "April" so they haven't been recognised, and added another dated stub tag.PamD 09:54, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

Okay:

  1. I did not know that the stub template does not take a date as some other templates do.
  2. I did not know that "april" was case sensitive as that point was not included in the documentation for the template.
  3. I nearly always preview my edits, but it was my last edit of the night and wanted to be done, but not to make excuses, I will alwayspreview from now on.
  4. Nitpicking much? I know I screwed up a lot of things on those two edits, including my edit summary, but don't WP:BITE bullets 3 and 4. And yes, I do know the difference between a wikilink and a template.

Overall, I will follow the points you outlined. Dan653 (talk) 18:05, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

I just noticed that you weren't even the person who fixed all my errors it was User:HammyDoo, who didn't complain at all, and a bot fixed the unreferenced tag. The only thing you fixed was the stub tag... Dan653 (talk) 18:27, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

Vandalism on your page

Hey, I reverted this edit because it didn't seem like you and was from someone you had reverted. Just keep an eye out! Achowat (talk) 19:41, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. You watchlist my user page or passing by? Just curious. Thanks again. Dan653 (talk) 21:12, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, you're watchlisted. Achowat (talk) 03:30, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
