Portugcal[edit]
Hi, there, I see that this is an archaic spelling, but is there any reason why we should be using it as opposed to the modern Portugal? Apparently you feel strongly about this since you reverted the change, but please share your reasoning. Meanwhile, I am not emotionally involved in this spelling and I am completely willing to believe that you know something I don't, so I have not reverted your revert, but I do want to know why you feel it was needed. @Elinruby: Hi. I am a native Portuguese-language speaker.
I couldn't find many instances of the form "Portugcal", just by googling, and the ones I found look like misspellings or OCR errors in digitalized documents.
Although I'm not an etymologist, if the sources are right, the spelling "Portugal" was in use at least since the 13th century. It came from Latin "Portucale". Hope I helped to explain the reasons.Relic Keeper (talk) 01:50, 27 September 2019 (UTC).
- ok, wait, I changed it to 'Portugcal' and you changed it back? I withdraw the question then. The change was not deliberate, if that is the case; I misread the notification as saying the opposite. I was in an isolated location at the time with not much bandwidth, on an elderly phone and having a lot of lag, so good call. I made a similar error of inserting random text by accident around the same time and decided to stop trying to edit the page, which is actually in pretty good shape. Now that I am in a better place with better equipmen I am just doing a few idiom improvements along the way as I read it. But if you are are a native Portuguese speaker, perhaps I can interest you in a related project, which is to update the various pages on Brazilian politics to reflect recent events. I am reading the Brazil page to educate myself on the history, and make any good changes I can see along the way. Operation Car Wash and Corruption in Brazil badly need updating, and many sources are in Portuguese, which I only somewhat can maybe read due to a good knowledge of related languages. Translations from pt-BR[edit]
Hi, DanGFSouza,
Can you help out translating articles from Portuguese into English, or helping answer questions about the meaning of some Portuguese sources which are difficult to understand, so other pt->en translators can translate them properly?
I work on and off on articles with sources in Brazilian Portuguese, and I sometimes translate articles from Portuguese (e.g., Caixa 2, Odebrecht–Car Wash leniency agreement). I also created the Brazil Glossary to help editors do translations into English.
With the aid of other translators, we completed the translation of Offshoots of Operation Car Wash. There's a related article still in Draft space, called Draft:Phases of Operation Car Wash. It's been dormant for a while, but I'd like to start up on it again, and could use some help. Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Old Enough! a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. - Sure. Just click on "add intelanguage link" on the left column (the pencil icon). Then a box "Link with page" will appear. On the field "Language", put the name of the language or the language code (in this case, "Bahasa Indonesia" or "idwiki") On the field "Page", put the name of the page as featured in the respective Wikipedia (Sumi Hakim in this example), then click over "Link with page".
