Invitation to join the Twenty Year Society[edit]

Dear DavidWBrooks/2023 archive,

I'd like to extend a cordial invitation to you to join the Twenty Year Society, an informal group for editors who've been participating in the Wikipedia project for twenty years or more.

Best regards, Chris Troutman (talk) 15:52, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sure! It's got a nice logo, if nothing else. What do I do to join? - DavidWBrooks (talk) 20:16, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Slap the topicon onto your userpage if you like. You could leave a message on the society talk page. Chris Troutman (talk) 04:57, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Happy First Edit Day![edit]

Klein bottle[edit]

Reminder to future self: I ran into an editor who "owns" the Klein bottle article and never got to run this, so ...

Source for 4 hours for Monadnock[edit]

We can't just estimate how long most hikers would take to hike the "shorter trails" - we need a reliable source stating it takes most people 4 hours to hike. I can do it in less than 3, however I know plenty of people who would need more than 5. Saying "about 4 hours" is not precise to actual reality. Happy to reinclude it if sourced, otherwise changing language to "within half a day". LegalSmeagolian (talk) 20:35, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My edits at Dihydrogen monoxide parody[edit]

When someone replaced 'hydric' with 'hydroxic', I added 'hydric acid' back in without checking whether there was a citation for 'hydroxic'. You were right, there is no citation in the article to support 'hydroxic acid' being used in a parody. I restored the text from before this started without intending on making it look like I was reverting you. Donald Albury 21:40, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:20, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
