Hi David Woodward, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions to the coolest online encyclopedia I know of =). I sure hope you stick around; we're always in need of more people to create new articles and improve the ones we already have. You'll probably find it easiest to start with a tutorial of how the wikipedia works, and you can test stuff for yourself in the sandbox. When you're contributing, you'll probably find the manual of style to be helpful, and you'll also want to remember a couple important guidelines. First, write from a neutral point of view, second, be bold in editing pages, and third, use wikiquette. Those are probably the most important ones, and you can take a look at some others at the policies and guidelines page. You might also be interested in how to write a great article and possibly adding some images to your articles.

Be sure to get involved in the community – you can contact me at my talk page if you have any questions, and you can check out the village pump, where lots of wikipedians hang out and discuss things. If you're looking for something to do, check out the community portal. And whenever you ask a question or post something on a talk page, be sure to sign your name by typing ~~~~.

Again, welcome! It's great to have you. Happy editing! --Spangineer (háblame) 16:03, Jun 10, 2005 (UTC)

Echidna[edit]

Hi David, could you have a look at the Echidna page and my comment on the discussion page about the distribution claim. All best :)211.30.95.182 04:02, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi... you put this on the clean up page, and I was wondering if you'd be willing to take cracks at it with me. I started to prosify and refize this monster, and just now once I had some actual content built up moved all the inbody link farms (nearly all look like GOOD resources) to the talk page for storage and use. I left the massive external links section for now--this article looks to be overflowing with good RS stuff. Any help would be appreciated. · XP · 15:32, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Waterbowl offerings, Maitreya Project[edit]

This waterbowl offering has been made in December of 2007, personally by me and several other FPMT members. DO NOT WORRY. Information may be available at the Root Institute main website. Although I clearly understand Wikipedia policies ("'I heard if from somewhere' is not acceptable" - Jimbo Wales), do not worry. Information is accurate. Guaranteed. 100%. Hello. Sorry for not replying recently, as I have been fairly busy recently. The waterbowl offerings were made during December 2007, at the original site, which is in Bodhgaya. I will try to make the appropriate source available, but please do not consider it vandalism. I fully understand Wikipedia's policies, however, I really wish to make it known, since FPMT may not post everytime. =) But definitely, I WILL try to find a reference. Wood Pellets: USA[edit]

There has been a lot of work done recently in my area of Maine to bring bulk pellet delivery, and wood pellet heating to the public. Maine is one of the poorest states in country (old population very little industry) however there are many trees. ~80% of the state heats with heating oil and too many people have to make hard decisions when winter is particularly cold or long. Numerous state bureaucracies, tasks forces, non-profits, and a couple of educational institutions and private businesses have been involved in trying to build the regulatory and commercial environment that would allow Mainers to heat with a local and renewable fuel. For sometime Maine Energy Systems the primary business involved with this movement was mentioned on the wood pellet page. I appreciate that WP is an encyclopedia of sorts and not a marketing tool, however I believe it is worthwhile to have more in the US section of the wood pellets page than ...some companies import European boilers.

Could you help me to understand what would be appropriate in this section that is more informative to people interested in wood pellet heat? I am completely new to Wikipedia and really would like to make sure I practice proper etiquette. In case you haven't guessed the idea that my neighbors know they can heat with a fuel that they can afford, creates jobs, keeps money in the region, and is renewable matters to me. And I think that it is notable information, I just would like to know what I need to make sure I say (and keep out) when I try and make sure it is included on Wikipedia.

Sorry for the long talk, this probably isn't even the correct forum to discuss this, sorry for that as well. I have and will continue for answers for myself, but any response you can give me will surely prove helpful. Thanks Nineteen85EAGLE (talk) 18:22, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Nineteen85EAGLE, your account seems to be closed down, so i will reply here. The reason i was editing that page is that i am in favour of wood pellets, but if the arguments come across as marketing, or trying to push a point; they are likely to put people off. Please read about Wikipedia policy: Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view is a good place to start re this issue.
Rather than just list companies, do some research on the companies, what are they doing, how big are they, were do they sell, etc, and then put this sort of information in but without highlighting the company names - use good sources, company pages are usually good for that, and people can follow the links to get the marketing information - it just doesn't belong on WP. David Woodward ☮ ♡♢☞☽ 05:36, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Hello David, I have been working on putting together a Maine Energy Systems page and believe that I have put together a fairly good Wikipedia page. If you have a moment could you take a look at it and give some feedback it is User:Nineteen85EAGLE/Maine Energy Systems. As I mentioned before I am trying very hard to explain the notable work being done in my area in a way which is appropriate for wp. This is my first page, and I want to make sure that it is a sensible use of wp before I hunt down the rest of the references and realize I can't put it up for WP:SOAP reasons. Thanks very much for your helpful advice earlier, I believe I have followed it well. Nineteen85EAGLE (talk) 18:10, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

More Joyous[edit]

More Joyous inquiry is bigger that just Tom Waterhouse or the horse. So expecting that it would become a significant item like Fine Cotton. Alternatively, do you think it would be better to have a heading called Controversial events. for me the More Joyous inquiry stands alone and is better outside of betting or media heading.Reflexio (talk) 04:08, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Coalbed methane confusion[edit]

I note that you added a section on a water pollution site in Pennsylvania to the Coalbed methane article. However, your text says that the pollution was due to shale gas extraction, which is a subject very different from coalbed methane. Could you clear up the contradiction? If it was indeed due to shale gas, then it properly belongs in either Shale gas in the United States, or better yet, in the Marcellus natural gas trend article. Thanks. Thanks for moving it. Looking at the (properly referenced) quote you added, I'm afraid that Prof. Vengosh is woefully confused about the various US environmental laws. OER inquiry[edit]

Hi David Woodward, I'm sending you this message because you're one of about 300 users who have recently edited an article in the umbrella category of open educational resources (OER) (or open education). In evaluating several projects we've been working on (e.g. the WIKISOO course and WikiProject Open), my colleague Pete Forsyth and I have wondered who chooses to edit OER-related articles and why. Regardless of whether you've taken the WIKISOO course yourself - and/or never even heard the term OER before - we'd be extremely grateful for your participation in this brief, anonymous survey before 27 April. No personal data is being collected. If you have any ideas or questions, please get in touch. My talk page awaits. Thanks for your support! - Sara FB (talk) 20:38, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with your custom signature[edit]

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you. 18:02, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
