POV on Plaid Cymru and Politics of Wales articles

Yep, PC article again! Not sure who to raise this with (is there a list of Welsh Moderators?). But an unregistered user ( IP 131.251.134.131) has been making slight edits: 1. adding Regionalism as an ideology for PC. I don't think the party considers Wales a region, so I think it's incorrect. I've not changes it yet, but left a message on the article talk page for others to comment. 2.The same user edited the Politics of Wales article so that 'Constituent countries of the UK' was changed to 'regions of the UK'. I think it's a blatant POV and undid changes, but he/she has just undid my changes! As it's an unregistered user, there is no way of discussing it on user talkpage. I haven't bothered changing it back. According to WHOIS, it's from a Cardiff Uni machine.--Rhyswynne 11:41, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

WOW!!!

You are so first! Thank you so much!(Artist in France 11:51, 1 May 2007 (UTC))

Hello!

Thank you Deb for your welcome message. My english is not perfect but I try to write about artists for whom there are not so much informations on the internet. I go slowly but I am a very serious person, who loves history and culture. So could I take off the "unclear importance" template? I will continue to developpe the article.(Artist in France 11:42, 1 May 2007 (UTC))

William Sawrey Gilpin dates

Just wondering how you came up with the birth and death dates of William Sawrey Gilpin. Sophie Piebenga, on whose research the whole Wiki entry is based, couldn't establish a DOB after extensive research and is certain that your DOD is wrong. Could you clarify the source for your information? (G.Bissell)

Great you got back

I will remember your comment in the future and make sure I edit the content to suit. You do have some role. atbRumytime 11:33, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks,really

Hi, I'm impressed by the way you handled this - ref 'that was quick' - your pointers were healthy. I was truly mad when you deleted my very 1st article, but I guess it was better, as I have a wholesome view now. In fact there's more interesting stuff on the same topic. Am going to add that now along with the original. It'd be great if you dropped by and took a look and initially tutor (?)if that's not a problem with you.

Also, I've been writing on and off, various pieces in the offline world. After this piece I just will rewrite , would like to help with some projects where it would be constructive. I have taken a look at some help needed articles and have marked some, but if there's anything you'd like to bring up keep me posted please.Thanks.Rumytime 04:53, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

That was quick!

Hi, I just joined Wikipedia a week back and given the state of social networking in India really wanted to update others on a cool site I chanced upon. They're def working in the right direction because you don't have good travel references in the country that have local content. but you seem to have deleted the whole article as spam??? Why was this I'd like to you help me understand? Am not sure what I did wrong. Thank you 'ditto as below ...( I'm not sure if this is correct way to contact you, apologies, this is the only thing I could figure out.)

Question please?

Hi, I just joined Wikipedia because we have been getting incorrect info on the nightclub I work for, so I posted the correct info and added a few fun acts. I also added a page for Joe Shanahan, the owner, which you deleted. Granted I didn't have time to add much on there as I was called away from my desk, but as I am new can you help me understand why it was deleted? I want to follow protocol, but I am new and not sure what I did wrong. If I start a page, do I have to add everything all at once? Thank you for any help you can provide. (Also I'm not sure if this is correct way to contact you, apologies, this is the only thing I could figure out.)

WOW

you work fast. I was trying to fix an article I'd just created and you beat me to it. --WildKard84 18:23, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Nah, just a little confusion is all. --WildKard84 18:27, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey Deb, notifying you of change

You would know me originally as Draig goch20, but I have made a decision for a change. Instead of Draig goch20, I will now be known as Amlder20. Everything relating to me shall be there from now on, at user:Amlder20.

Amlder20 22:51, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

I am using "Amlder20" because last month I turned 20 years of age. Personally I would love to be 20 forever. oh well. Thanks for the Welcome back anyway. God bless.

Amlder20 14:44, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

I am rather pleased to see a comment as nice as that thanks, yeah, to be honest I had deep interests in things since I was a child, I guess I am just one of those kids at school who over did it with the work (though my schoolteachers failed to teach me major mathematics, everhything I know there I did myself). I am constantly reading history books and studying computing books and Welsh is my main favourite.

Seymours

Just FYI (I didn't notice on the first go-round), but Edward Seymour, Baron Beauchamp of Hache actually held the title by courtesy; he and his eldest son Lord Edward Seymour predeceased his father the Earl of Hertford. I've also knocked together a page for Baron Seymour of Trowbridge. Choess 22:48, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

My Dad George Sassoon

Hello to you all who spoke about my Father, I am glad to know he was respected in his own right rather than being Seigfried's son. I have just returned from his memorial service which was attended by a huge congregation of a wonderful mixture of people from all over the world and from all walks of life. The words that were spoken by his friends were fabulous. I kept mine short because I was choking up. Afterwards we all went to the pub and raised our glasses until we were to drunk to raise another. This is what he would have wanted. Thanks. Kendall Sassoon

Nice new picture of SS's grave. Did you take it recently? Deb 21:59, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the appreciation :) However, I didn't take the photo...
It's from this page on the geograph website - and was taken in May last year. Since the geograph website images are all Creative Commons licensed, I find it is a really good resource for adding some great pictures to Wikipedia! - Euchiasmus 22:09, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

I just wanted to know why you speedy deleted the article as "nonsense". It's an episode page (probably shouldn't have two episodes for one article), but I don't see how it meets speedy deletion criteria. Thanks, Nishkid64 01:32, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

My RfA

Thanks for taking the time to review my contributions and contribute to my RfA. I withdrew when it became clear that the uphill climb had crossed the snowball threshold, but I appreciate your feedback and the process gave me some good ideas for other ways I can be contributing to Wikipedia. I'll work on the areas that came up in the discussion, and try again after I've gained wider experience. -FisherQueen (Talk) 12:34, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Questionable reversion

I am not sure why you reverted this [1]. I will explain my edit better and await your response. TonyTheTiger 18:15, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

My comment is that even without research, one could improve it by reformating in compliance with WP:LEAD. An article of this depth could easily be reformatted to have a small lead. Does your definition of a stub come from a policy page? Please point me to it. I appreciate your advice if this is the case. Otherwise, we need to come to an agreement on what a stub is. I admit, I have never assessed articles so I may not have proper understanding of the meaning of the term stub. It seems that some very lengthy articles might be deemed stub by your definition. Please advise. TonyTheTiger 19:50, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
You contest each tag. There is a problem with the set of tags available for lead deficiencies. I may design my own tag that would say. "This article although having good content in general should be reformatted so that it has a lead in compliance with WP:LEAD." I don't think any of the following truly apply: context, LEAD, Tooshort, vagueintro, introrewrite. Tell me what you would use to tell a person that you believe the article needs cleanup in the sense that its lead does not comply to WP:LEAD. Maybe vagueintro is the best here. TonyTheTiger 20:08, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
When I am on WP:NPP I usually spend an hour starting with the 10001st most recent edit. This is about 4.5 days since the article was created. This gives the page creators time to post most relevant thoughts on an article. By this time, the new page creator may be starting to lose enthusiasm for his new creation. I add tags in order to give them some pointers on things that can be done. WP:LEAD clearly would lead one to take a few sentences to summarize the whole article. I would think you could do a 2 or 3 sentence lead and then have a section or two following the lead that comprise the main body of the article.
Note that I am not saying the introduction is not good. It complies with Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(biographies)#Opening_paragraph. However, it is not a WP:LEAD. There is a difference between an opening paragraph and a lead. A lead is something that precedes the main article. The opening paragraph is the first paragraph you see. These are two different things. TonyTheTiger 20:37, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
I have revised the article according to WP:LEAD off the top of my head (without rereading it). The article is now slightly better, IMO. TonyTheTiger 20:56, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
I just forgot to remove stub. Thanks for following along. TonyTheTiger 19:39, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

George Henry Morris

Fair enough, I quoted your sentence back to you, sorry, but it is a fine line between boring facts and over-elaborate irrelevant guff, just to pad it out. I can't do this 24/7, and i am trying to learn this , but there must be more important causes needing your assistance surely? . Thank you.

Which part of this sentence is not complete?

"He was born in Spiddal, Co. Galway, Ireland, the second son of Michael Morris, 1st Baron Killanin, and was educated at The Oratory School, Edgbaston."

It is written in English, and whilst it may not be wonderful prose, it is punctuated reasonably well. A series of staccato facts is no way to educate, inform, and enthuse people about Wikipedia. There are many more worthy and less able pages that require serious attention. This one is way way down the list. I will take your advise onboard, and try to learn "the system" better, but please get a grip], and lay off the pedantry. Thank you.

Sorry, but I disagree with your edit. He was not a British solider. I have however added an introductory line to give some more context to his entry. Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dillonphoto (talkcontribs) 23:52, 29 January 2007 (UTC).

Jean Estoril/Mabel Esther Allan

Sorry, I have reversed your redirect as Mabel Esther Allan [aka Jean Estoril] was definitely British, although at least one of the Drina books she wrote is set in New York--Abbeybufo 23:28, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

PS Don't really want to do article on her at all - as I'm not that keen on most of her books - just happened to see Jean Estoril in the red subject list and thought I'd tie her up with MAE--Abbeybufo 23:40, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

PC Pic

Thanx for letting me know the picture was removed. I found the picture on the Welsh language Wiki, and brought it over. But I couldnt understand where the authorship was from. Can you tell me if we receive premission from one Wiki to use their pictures that it transfers to the English version too? There are other pictures I am looking for too, but havent been able to get. Ive written to PC on their website with no answer yet to supply some pictures for use here. I hope they answer soon. Thanx again! Drachenfyre 01:13, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Linking catagories

Hello again :)

I would like to create a "see also" link to the Plaid Cymru politicians page as currently only MP Plaid members are listed. There is already a nifty catagory page that would save work instead of simply creating another "list of." Might you know how to link a catagory? I have been looking for a ready example but so far have not been able to find one. By the by, I have placed the Saunders Lewis pic up again. Drachenfyre 11:10, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Added GolfInvestors, but got deleted

I just added the GolfInvestors page as people were starting to talk about GolfInvestors on Wikipedia. I see that the New York Stock Exchange has their own page...but that is not deleted. So why would you delete the GolfInvestors page we just created...as it is now linked on another page in Wikipedia?

Note: The page I created, and was deleted, was not an advertisement for GolfInvestors.

Advice request

I created a page called "Music-Map" about a music recommendation site that you marked for speedy deletion. I don't have any especial interest in that particular site, and perhaps it doesn't deserve its own page after all. However, I would like to see an article about such sites, even if it were merely a "list of" page. Perhaps "List of Music Recommendation Systems" would do? What do you think? Meanwhile I'm going to add a link to Music-Map to "Recommendation Systems" since it has a (small) list going already. If you object, I would appreciate it if you would explain why. --JandarShadowstar 22:57, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your excellent provision of birthyear / deathyear data on biographies! Thought you might be interested in a proposed project to link to WorldCat Identities: if you are, please do sign up at the project proposal page Dsp13 15:50, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Classification of articles

Maybe I am being slightly mean for some of these. I shall consider in the future being more generous! However I would still rate the Silyn Roberts article as Stub, and you can allways change the rating if you wish. At least I've classified them rather than leaving them as unclassified. --Cynnydd 13:39, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

I see you suggested the Silyn Roberts article as a collaboration article. If we in this Wales project actually did something as a collaboration we might be able to get this article deserving of a higher rating. Would you like to have another go at getting the collaboration going? (might work better if its a monthly collaboration! )--Cynnydd 14:12, 21 February 2007 (UTC) (p.s.) checked my assessments and you know I haven't done too many stubs after all :-) )

Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies

Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of unassessed articles tagged with WPBiography. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod 20:25, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Mary I of Scotland

I don't understand your revert of this edit of mine. Shouldn't a 'rough wooing' section have a 'rough wooing' paragraph to explain why the term is in the section header, if nothing else? 76.22.4.86 02:22, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

No worries. Thanks for letting me know. I've been editing as an IP long enuf that this wasn't the first time my edits have been rolled back due to IP vandalism around the same time as my edits, and I'm pretty sure it won't be the last. I had restored my non-content changes, but was unfamiliar enuf with the topic that I thot it best to leave it to someone more familiar with it to determine whether the paragraph should be restored. 76.22.4.86 19:23, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Deleted page template

FYI, placing a deletedpage on a page (such as Davy Takenashi) when you're a non-admin who can't actually delete and protect the page is pretty pointless...Just a standard speedy deletion template should do. -- Scientizzle 18:02, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Help with Normalmouth

Deb, I am getting nowhere with Normalmouth who's insisting on retaining imbalanced racist remarks on the Plaid Cymru page. Can you intervene again? He's now saying he will reinsert unreliably-sourced comments on the page, after originally agreeing to remove them!Lenincymru2007 15:12, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Your suggestion

Hi Deb. Good suggestion. I have made some very significant compromises on the Plaid Cymru article tonight and accepted LC's edit on Welsh Labour in full (though I have moved it), So I hope we can deal on this basis. I will now take the opportunity to cool off. Tks. Normalmouth 22:08, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Deb, I wonder if you could provide guidance on an issue to do with the Plaid Cymru article. I have just noticed that much of the new material in the history section has been lifted verbatim (before my edits) from the PC website (see [2]. Is this permissable or desirable? I'm concerned that the article should not seek to regurgitate official party perspectives, which will naturally seek to put PC is the most favourable light, perhaps at the expense of objectivity and relevant information. I'd value your thoughts before I pleace something on the talk page about this. Normalmouth 14:47, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Posting messages for vandals

Hello, I see that you are not only a fellow vandalism fighter, but also a WP admin. I sure was glad to see how assiduously you tracked down all of the instances of vandalism by anon. user 64.251.48.170 today (other than his earlier complex vandalism of Slavery, which I dealt with myself).

But I was disappointed that you didn't follow through and post warnings on the user's talk page -- which is so crucial in terms of dissuading people from further vandalism. I know sometimes it's a bit of a hassle if you're short on time, but even if I skip this step on occasion, I always make a point of doing it when the user has perpetrated multiple vandalisms. So I hope you'll consider doing so in the future. Regards, Cgingold 23:24, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Douglapedia

I know that Douglapedia is not exactly the most notable of books. It hasn't been published or anything. My friends and I wrote it for the pupils of Douglas Academy in Milngavie, Scotland, and many of them have taken an interest in it and have downloaded it from the Commons page. Some people have been asking for it but we have not been able to get it to them because the links to the Commons files had to be removed from the Douglas Academy page. I therefore thought I'd create a page for Douglapedia, and put a link to it from the Douglas Academy page, which I have been told is the best way to do this. Douglapedia is popular amoung students of Douglas Academy, and it would be a pity if they could not access it.

Year pages

Guilford vs Guildford

I have undone your edit of the Guildford Dudley article and your "correction" of the spelling of Guildford. I would encourage you to read my discussion of this issue on the Talk page of the Lady Jane Grey article. The correct spelling of the name is GuilDford. Thanks. Stephan Edwards, Ph.D. PhD Historian 19:37, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I can indeed tell you where to look to confirm that the correct spelling of Guildford is GuilDford. If you have access to the manuscripts collection of the British Library at King's Cross in London or the National Archives Public Record Office at Kew, I can provide you with a list of sixteenth-century documents that contain this original spelling. I can also suggest a number of sixteenth-century printed books that use the GuilDford spelling, as well as the University of Sheffield's online access port to definitive versions of John Foxe's Actes and Monuments (http://www.hrionline.ac.uk/foxe/apparatus/person_glossaryD.html). I understand your concern about the article being moved to a new spelling, but shouldn't the change be made so that Wikipedia is accurate and more nearly reliant on primary source material rather than the caprice of later, most nineteenth century, amateur historians and antiquarians who were demonstrably prone to altering spellings (and "facts")? This is exactly the kind of issue that makes most academics highly critical of Wikipedia as a source of reliable information. PhD Historian 23:36, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

I've not read Weir's recent novel about Jane Grey, but I will ask her where she got her spelling of the name (we are in touch a lot). The only other thing that I can say is that all academic historians, to my knowledge, accept and use the "d" spelling; non-academics (of which Weir is one) tend to use the non-"d" spelling, usually repeating it from works by amateur antiquarians like Agnes Strickland and Richard Davey. But as long as serious academic historians use the "d" spelling, I will consider it the most correct.PhD Historian 18:13, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Plaid Cymru and LeninCymru

Hello Deb. I'm having trouble on the Plaid Cymru page again. I've embarked on a big rewrite of the history section (expanding it substantially) and have been meticulous in sourcing my edits, using only well respected, widely read published Welsh political historians. LeninCymru has taken offence, and I'm really not sure he wants anything other than a puff-piece on PC. Wouild you mind having a look at the article, its sources and the discussion and give your opinion on the points beind disputed? Tks. Normalmouth 13:22, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Your Question on my talk page

Hello Deb. I use Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers) section 1.3 as my guide. I am one of those editors who believes that links to years are rarely useful to the reader and reduce the readability of the text. That is why, if they aren't part of a specific day - month - year, I remove the links. However, as you read the section there is some flexibility in this situation and if there is a page, or pages, that you wish to keep the links in just let me know and I won't edit them in my fashion. Also, I thought I made this post this morning but I must have hit preview and then used the back button to get me back to where I was when your message came thru so I apologize for the lateness of this reply. MarnetteD | Talk 00:13, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Len Davies

Hi, I see you reverted my revert, so maybe we can discuss this here rather than anything else. My understanding is that years should not be linked where it is just the year, at least that is what I've been told in the past. I also don't see why you deleted the stub link as the article is still a stub in my view - needs plenty of expansion. WikiGull 20:13, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed that in revising Harry Lewis (boxer) you changed the location of presentation of birth and death locations from one that I have seen repeatedly on Wiki. Can you point me to a Wiki standard? Tx. --Epeefleche 23:19, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Evia (finnish company)

Hi Deb, I noticed from deletion log that you deleted article Evia (finnish company) with reason "advertising". Can you please guide me what was the advertising part because I did not found anything advertisement elements. Was it fact "is one of the largest finnish marketing communication agencies" (found also from Evia Annual Report 2006 page 4: Operating environment that base finnish Tilastokeskus reports). Or was it part "Services"? If yes: is it forbidden to tell what company do? Or should I redesign that part? I think that over €10 million net profit (might sound less but in Finland this is big money outside Nokia :) is enough to meet criteria about own article. Not to mention that company was founded over 50 years ago...

I do not mean to disturb you, but wonder why article was deleted. I tried to search from rules that what rules I violated, but found nothing. Regards --Agony-fi 12:40, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about double message, not sure do you have my talk page in your watchlist: "About common history I cannot write much more what article already had, but I found page that contain every published stock exchange announcement since 1996. Perhaps from there I can find notable history. I understand the danger, but I always try to achieve neutral point of view. If you return the article, I'm ready to try write history about Evia." and thank you in advance. --Agony-fi 09:25, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

T. J. Morgan

Hiya :) I saw you wrote T. J. Morgan and wondered how it passed the guidelines of WP:BIO? In its current state it probably qualifies for a prod tag. Mentality 22:07, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Re:T.J. Morgan, I didn't mean to be baffling, I was asking how it passed the guidelines of Wikipedia, purely out of courtesy before proposing deletion. I've done that in the past and people have contested it and continued to expand upon the article, I just wanted to ask if that was your plan or what? :-) Mentality 22:19, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
Whoo! Indeed, probably quite the task. I guess I'll leave it in your seemingly capable hands! Mentality 22:23, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Cillian Murphy

Hi Deb. I'm wondering if you would do me the favor of leaving a note on the Cillian Murphy talk page to say why you graded it as a B. I'm a newbie, so I'm not sure exactly what needs improving -- but I'm interested in improving it, so I'd love to know what you think it lacks or what policies it violates. Thanks! Melty girl 02:04, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello again -- I've learned a whole lot and have done a lot of work on Cillian Murphy since last we spoke. I've just nominated it for FA, if you want to check it out. Thanks again for your help in the past. Cheers, Melty girl 23:22, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi Deb, thank you very much for restyling the articles on Belgians I have been writing. I now see that they become more readable. Do you have some suggestions for me on style, etc. ? Pvosta 10:51, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Page on Polar Wind

I see you immediately deleted the page I was working on Polar Wind. Your point of copyright infringement may be valid but I don't think so. I'm the original author of the material I was using as a starting point. I'm a government employee, so it seems arguable that the material can be used by me for this if I choose to do so. I was updating the material more or less significantly, as well. I hope you replaced the material with a blank while we work out the permission arguments. I'd hate to have to redo the editing that I just completed. Please let me know at my talk page.

Hi there - you recently made a minor edit to an article on Joy Shelton. I would like to add a photo to the article but although I have managed to upload it (it shows amongst my contributions), I have not suceeded in embedding it in the article and am finding the instructions on how to do so boggling - I tried entering the jpeg file name where prompted but when I previewed the page it came up only as text, no photo. Can you help, or if I mailed you the photo would you post it? Jonathan Tafler

Beit Taneen deletion

Greetings! I see that you deleted Beit Taneen today (15 May). Do you recall whether this was a prod or speedy deletion? The history just says "not notable" without specifying, and no warning was left at the talk page—at least not the talk page of the person who recreated it. The article has been recreated, and I'm trying to determine how to proceed. Thank you for your help. Regards, —C.Fred (talk) 01:10, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm leaning like you are. Merge it into the parent article, or else speedy it as non-notable group. Thanks for the background info on its prior deletion. —C.Fred (talk) 16:48, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Syreita, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Syreita fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

main space redirect to a user page

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Syreita, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 18:17, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

John Jones, Talysarn

We had brief discussion before in Talk:John Jones (Talysarn). I've realised that some of the other references in en:Wikipedia to John Jones are inaccurate, mainly that he wasn't a poet, and didn't have a bardic name. My source is the 1874 biography by Owen Thomas. I will write up a bit more about him on the John Jones (Talysarn) page to bring in material from cy:Wikipedia, with sources, and edit other references. Welcome!

Thanks for welcoming me! However I'm not really new to Wikipedia. I used to have an account but I can't access it anymore (says password is wrong - but it's not - and I didn't enter any email account when registering). Any idea what my account became? Cheers Manneken Pis 17:06, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

To be honest it's no big deal for me. I just don't want people to use my old account (but it does not seem to be the case). Hi, I can't tell from this article's history whether you contributed it or found it and moved it from somewhere else on Wikipedia, but it's most definitely a copy of this page, so unless someone has secured permission for its use here, it has to be deleted as a copyright violation. B4Playing

Hi,

The title of B4Playing was deleted due to what seem to be lack of supporting information.

Well this is a public company in the gambling industry u can search "b4playing" in google and see the amount of resaults.

In thier last press release the even had 888 the biggest casino online to recommend them.

So i think they should be reconsidered.

I am not an employee of this company but i have met their vip marketing in a convention and asked about this issue here with wikipedia, and he said they were blocked and didnt know what do to.

So here is my try to help them out.

Cheers, Jimbo

Peter Vischer the Elder

Could you please have a look at Peter Vischer the Elder. There are some issues with the article, and they seem to date from this edit of yours, which appears to be a cut-and-paste from somewhere, replacing a redirect. - Jmabel | Talk 23:09, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi Deb - can you take another look at this? I originally tagged it for speedy deletion as I didn't (& don't) think her notable. You changed it to an importance tag which I thought was fine. This was removed, I re-added it, it's been removed again, blah. I don't want to re-add this but as the article stands now there is still no assertion of notability save unreferenced connections with Ray Davies and Chris Martin.

You've got more experience here than I have - what's the best thing to do? Add unreferenced, re-add importance, leave it alone or what? pablo : ... hablo ... 22:10, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

P.C., Normalmouth, and recent edits

Greetings Deb. I seek your assistance and possible mediation on Plaid Cymru. I have been adding sourced information on PC's recent history. I felt the prior information too cursery and biased itself. I felt giving more fuller information was warrented. I welcome others to assist in editing my sometimes admittedly verbose text, but feel weary by Normalmouth's recent revert (he basically removed all of my contrabutions in favor of his much unsourced text). I know you have delt with the subject in the past and may yourself be weary, and if this is so then I can ask elsewhere. But, given your history there, I felt you might be the place to go. DOB and BLP

Hey Deb, I noticed that you are adding DOB info to some of the articles that I watch. Have you reviewed WP:BLP and the 'Privacy of birthdays' section? Baroness

You are wrong on the Baronesses thing. A female married to a baron is a baroness. Yes they are known as Lady, but they are legally Baronesses, hence we use that it in article title. If you don't believe me, ask User:Proteus. I would also ask you not to revert my edits for no apparent reason (on Audrey Callaghan's page). I had correctly changed date to UK format (per MoS) and fixed link to British Prime Minister. There was no reason to revert. --UpDown 07:43, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

You deleted this article as CSD A7 (non notable), yet there were numerous assertions of notability in the article, and some references listed. I'm having trouble verifying it, and it may be a hoax - but hoaxes are not a criteria for speedy deletion. I feel that the article should be undeleted and subjected to further scrutiny. --Darksun 20:59, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

 • He's not non notable though, at least, there is an assertion of notability in the article. There were several television appearances listed, and it said he was the recepient of an MBE. This would clearly be notable, certainly well above the threshold for speedy deletion. I did get the impression that some of it might have been bordering on personal attack (I was going to remove some controversial unsourced statements from the article when it was deleted. However, I'll trust in your ability to recognise personal attack and leave the matter as it is :) --Darksun 21:07, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

the deletion of MSK (The Mask)

hi, please could i ask why you deleted this article as i put a lot of time and effort into it and i was upset to see it was deleted while i was editing it, thanks, TheMSK 18:34, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Some might call that disrupting Wikipedia to illustrate a point. None of the people you "helpfully" created a disambiguation page for (of course, I wouldn't dream of suggesting it was merely an excuse to move the page already there) were ever known as "Lord Henry Percy", as none were ever the younger son of a duke or marquess: they may have been called "Henry", and known as "Lord Percy", but as I'm sure you're aware that's most definitely not the same thing. Diana, Princess of Wales

Hi, thanks for your comments and advice. But could you possibly be more specific, as I have done 2 edits within the time period that you've commented on, are you commenting on the neutrality of my edit on Camilla attending Diana's memorial or Henri Paul being the driver of the Mercedes-Benz, I am not casting aspertions on Henri Paul or Dodi Al-Fayed, I am just correcting that Henri Paul was not Diana or Dodi's official driver, he was recruited to drive the car, to avoid the press around the front of the Ritz hotel, he drove the car that actually held the Princess and Dodi, whilst a decoy car was positioned as to implement a 'red herring' for the awaiting press, expecting Diana & Dodi to get into that car, when they'd already driven off in the Mercedes around the back. I am not conspiracising, just correcting. PoliceChief 19:16, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the further advice, and I'm grateful also for you pointing out my obvious indiscretion, which summises that Henri Paul was too drunk to control the car, when there was no way of measuring how fast the car was going as blood cannot prove decisive of the speed of the vehicle. I have somewhat contradicted myself, what I meant to say was that through witness testimony and recollection of events popularized by press and media, that the vehicle was travelling at immensely high speed to outrun the paparazzi following closely behind, so I concluded that with the high speed of the vehicle and the supposed alcohol levels within Henri Paul, additional to the chase and outwitting of the paparazzi, these factors could have proved disastrous. Richard Burton and 'frivolity'

Hello. In what sense is putting Sir Richard Burton at the top of the disambiguation list 'frivolous'? I'd be interested to know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.18.82 (talk) 13:39, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Deb: well, I'd appreciate a reply. Thank you. 131.111.18.82 10:04, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Okay, then, here it is. You keep changing "Richard Burton, 20th century Welsh actor" to "Richard Burton, 20th century Welsh actor who married Elizabeth Taylor twice". That is a frivolous change. You've already broken the Three revert rule and I could block you for that instead of just protecting the page. Deb 11:41, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Gosh, I am completely chastened. You win. But you know, Richard Francis Burton SHOULD be at the top of the list. I know he's not Welsh :-), and I know it's a matter of opinion. But, you win.131.111.18.82 13:40, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Oh, hang on, I see. Your issue here is the 'who married Elizabeth Taylor (twice)', then. So how about putting Sir Richard Burton at the top of the list, if that isn't frivolous, why did you revert it? That ISN'T frivolous, is it? 131.111.18.82 14:31, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

It certainly isn't usual - where the title of a disambiguation page is Mr X (disambiguation), the normal procedure is to put the person who appears in the "Mr X" article at the top of the list. Deb 17:27, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

The Alien by John Lucas

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have been trying to get a Wikipedia entry for a new novel entitled "THE ALIEN," written by John Lucas.

I tried to then look up the page after it was created, but it then said that you deleted the page. I am wondering, did I violate policy? I swear I had no maliciousness intended. I was not being slanderous, nor cruel. Is there any way I can rewrite the article without it then being deleted?

I would greatly appreciate it if the article would stay where it is.

Oakhurst band deletion

Hi, this is the first time I am using wikipedia, and I decided that I wanted to make a page on my favorite band, Oakhurst. I started to create a biography I got permission to use and was going to include discography and pics I took myself at their shows. I see many other bands have pages. What did I do wrong? I am a fan of the band. Im not associated with them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Campcaribou420 (talkcontribs) 18:45, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Deb. You just deleted an article that did not meet the criteria for speedy deletion. It is a notable topic, and notability was being asserted. There will be enough reliable sources to justify the article. And I was trying to help this new user. The subject of the article is a national clothing line which people can actually purchase from, but was introduced as an element of the fictional story of One Tree Hill, a major network television show. the clothing line itself has a fan following that is significant. Please reinstate the article. If after some development there is still some question as to whether encyclopedic guidelines are being met, the proper forum is WP:AfD for a consensus decision. Thank you for your kind courtesies and cooperation.OfficeGirl 22:21, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

CSD-A7 states:

No assertion of importance/significance. An article about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content that does not state why its subject is important or significant. This is distinct from questions of notability, verifiability and reliability of sources. If controversial, list the article at Articles for deletion instead.

The edit description on the deletion log for this article says: "(not notable)". According to the speedy deletion policy the existence of notability is a distinct question that must be decided outside of the speedy deletion process.OfficeGirl 22:30, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Clothes Over Bros Deletion

I was quite upset that my article on Clothes Over Bros was deleted so quickly. I assure you that the topic at hand is an actual clothing line based off of a fictional element of the television show One Tree Hill. I am currently working on a full description and photos. In fact, my whole purpose for even creating the page, besides the fact that I am a fan of the show, is for a school Wikipedia. Therefore, Clothes Over Bros is a 'notable' topic and should be undeleted. Vintagevixen 22:38, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Deb, I also noticed that no one had placed a notice on Vintagevixen's talk page to give her a chance to place the hangon tag on the page. Both she and I would have given our explanations on the article talk page as to why we felt the subject was notable and we would have clarified the assertion of notability in the article text. I never even saw the speedy deletion notice on the article, and I was in the process of working on it when it was deleted. Vintagevixen is a new user who is acting in good faith to learn about contributing to Wikipedia as a school assignment, and we should do everything we can to encourage and help her. Please let us hear from you. Thank you.OfficeGirl 23:03, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

This message has been addressed to you simply because you happened to be around.

Would you mind unwhacking , and , so that I can stick them back to Master of Orion? The three were removed in a recent rewrite and expansion as excessive illustration. They stopped being excessive when the expansion was done, so there's no reason not to put them back, I just hadn't yet because the tags said they'd be deleted after September 16th and I was opting to spend the remaining time discussing how to add them. --Kizor 21:11, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Worry not, fair lady! Behold, for I have </reallybadmedievalaccentfornodiscernablereason> re-added them to their game's article. They're standard video game screenshots with licensing information to match, and there's an elaborate fair use rationale template that I can add if pressed at some point in the future. The MoO article had a number of pictures in part because of its relative complexity and unconventionality, and in part because off a planned push to GA status that you shouldn't expect to happen any time soon. --Kizor 22:33, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

About my deleted page

Hello Deb,

I was trying to create an article about our Harry Potter RPG site which was immediately deleted. I admit I've never done this before and may be unaware of all rules and what is allowed or not, and was just wondering why my entry was not considered suitable for the Wikipedia. I realized after I saved the page that I had left out the link to the site, and was about to edit when I realized it was gone.

Are we not allowed to create articles about our sites or was I not descriptive enough?

Thanks for considering. mmrpg

I think the article in question did belong and should not have been deleted. OpenProject is the only open source, cross platform project management application available, and certainly deserves mention. Deleting the page and reference to the page shows quite inconsistant implementaion of wiki policy. Specifically, If this page should be deleted, than so should open workbench. Both applications have the same basic functionality and both are open source, but only one (openproject) is cross platform. Therefore, it makes sense that if only one belongs on the lit, it would be openproject. What is the purpose of having a list of software packages if you can not add packages to the list? Edmwnd Harri Puw

Hi Deb, c'est moi, Anatiomaros. Have you been keeping an eye on "Edmwnd Harri Puw", tagged as hoax and proposed for deletion? Just got here from cy. to check it out. My long list of reasons for deletion as a hoax on the Discussion page had been reverted by one of two new sock puppets used by this hoaxer (he now has four or possibly five user names plus does anon edits - not bad in a week!). He also added a very general list of references (along the lines of Who's Who in Wales etc) as "proof", none of them actually giving a page number etc for the supposed Mr Puw. He then removed the hoax and deletion tags, which I've just replaced. This is most definitely a hoax (see Discussion page and Welsh wikipedians talk). I was aware of that from the outset but spent some time searching out possible references to back my case. I wonder if you could do something about it, and the user (= User:EdPuw, User:Hebog and his two new ones - names on Edmwnd Harri Puw history - plus I think User:Emyr411)? It's not just the hoax article itself but the fact that he's been adding references to Puw and his Works all over the place. Diolch yn fawr. Enaidmawr 20:04, 19 September 2007 (UTC) PS I'll copy this and place it on your cy. talk page in case you get there first.

In case he edits it away again I'll post it here as well, if you don't mind:

Edmwnd Harri Puw and the now deleted Bro Rhydderch and The Ancient Traditions, Myths and Tales of Bro Rhydderch, Monmouthshire are clearly hoaxes. They came to my notice after a version of the Edmwnd Harri Puw article appeared on cy.wikipedia a few days back (it has since been deleted there). Neither the author or his supposed works are known to me and I can find no reference in the standard Welsh biographical reference works. Google has not a single mention of Puw or his books or Bro Rhydderch. The British Library and National Library of Wales bibliographical databases drew a blank as well. The author of these contributions refuses to provide a single source for his material, which is his sole contribution to en.wikipedia, under two user names and various anon edits (such as adding Puw to the list of Famous Welsh people) over the last week or so. He talks of historians in the article : who are they and which of their books mention Puw? Take a look at the relevant material added by the contributor to Llanddewi Rhydderch (a genuine village) : following a lot of nonsense "folklore" about trolls, it is said to be twinned with Dinan, Brittany, but of course is not mentioned on the wikipedia articles on Dinan (French and English). To cap it all he says that Llanddewi's motto, shared with "Bro Rhydderch", is the Esperanto phrase (what else?) Tio estis fikcio (translation : 'This is fiction'!). 'User:Enaidmawr|Enaidmawr. 23:23, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
This was the material contributed to the Llanddewi Rhydderch article (edit reverted):
The most notable comment concerning the village is that of Owain Glyndŵr, as he rode through the area in 1404, who said "mae'r lle yn hyfryd iawn, ond mae'n anffodus, rydw i'n gallu blasu'r mwg o'r Fenni yn yr awyr", of course referring to the way he had recently dealt with the nearby town of Abergavenny. Since the publication in 1847 of "The Ancient Traditions, Myths and Tales of Bro Rhydderch, Monmouthshire", the area to the east of Abergavenny, where the village is situated, has been known as Bro Rhydderch.
Perhaps the most important feature of the modern village is the small stone bridge over Pant Brook, under which lives the reputed "oldest troll in the whole of Wales and Anglesey". Nowadays however, it is thought that all the old order of trolls of the Welsh Marches have moved Northwards making him the oldest troll west of the River Severn.
The region of Bro Rhydderch is twinned with the town of Dinan in Brittany.
The character of the village and of its inhabitants can only be summed up by the village motto, always written in Esperanto, perhaps showing the universalism expressed there: "Tio estis fikcio".
Owain Glyndŵr's supposed comment (the unique example if it were true) can be translated as : "The place is truly delightful, but unfortunately I can smell the smoke from Abergavenny on the wind." 'User:Enaidmawr|Enaidmawr' 23:35, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Hope you or somebody with else with admin status can sort this out. Enaidmawr 20:18, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Quick question

Noticed you were working on CSDs, could you peek at Who would the world elect and tell me if that's an A7? I found only two references to it not on fan/blog/forum sites, and neither of them is a WP:RS, (satire site, and what seems to be a type of blog site). I hesitate tagging it, but thought I'd ask someone who has more experience with CSDs. ArielGold 21:43, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Deb! I'm glad my impression was correct, and thanks for taking care of that! ArielGold 17:03, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion help

Hi! Can you help me with this, I need this page (Skate (video game)) deleted ASAP. Thanks. --MrStalker talk 10:37, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and the talk page too, please =P --MrStalker talk 10:43, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Please undelete

Hi, I noticed you deleted The Merry Xmas Song as not notable. This song actually is notable as the only Pink Floyd song to feature lead vocals by drummer Nick Mason. His voice only appears briefly on a couple other songs and then only as a recording. Can you please undelete? The Parsnip! 17:05, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi again. I don't know who the re-creator is, but "Vegetable Man" is the name of another unreleased Pink Floyd song. In any case, his/her recreation is not much of an article, the one I created had actual helpful text in it. If you can't undelete because of the standing recreation, can you e-mail me the text of the deleted article so I can reinsert it and add information about the lead vocal? Also, if you'd rather not e-mail me, you could just drop the text on my talk page and I can pick it up there. The Parsnip! 18:06, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Oops. You're right, that's not the article I created. I added a couple unreleased PF song stubs a few days ago, and I added this title to the PF template but hadn't gotten around to writing an actual article. Sorry for the confusion. The Parsnip! 03:15, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Undeletion request

Hi Deb. I noticed the article Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat in the proposed deletion category earlier today and went to find some sources to improve it, but it had been deleted by the time I came back to the page. Even though I hate everything to do with the diet industry, the book is notable with lots of magazine, newspaper and TV coverage eg [5], [6], [7], [8]. Could you undelete the article? Thank you. Bláthnaid 19:20, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! I had totally forgotten about this. Bláthnaid 23:05, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi. Don't mind my asking, but is there really much prospect of us finding any poetry that can be shown to have been written in 530. Wouldn't it be better to just have decade or even century articles when you go this far back? Deb 21:30, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Well...I'm not sure yet. If you look at List of years in poetry, you will see there is an article for almost every year, and just about every one of those have at least one event. Chances are, eventually something will be added. I'm pretty sure WP:POETRY is trying to get an article and have at least one event for each year. I'm just trying to help by making some of those articles. Thanks -jj137 TalkContribs 21:36, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh yes, I realise I'm picking on 530 at random. It just seems funny to have the poetry year articles going that far back when there isn't even one for literature. Deb 21:39, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm sure there will be eventually... :) -jj137 TalkContribs 22:44, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Vandal patrol

Hi Deb, sut mae? Just came across a bit of silly vandalism on the Caernarfon article and checked out the contibutor, IP adress 194.83.12.5. Long list of vandalism and blanking of pages. Not having the Big Stick over here I wondered if you might consider having a look and doing something about it? Cofion, Enaidmawr 23:50, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Ronald A. Carson

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Ronald A. Carson. Since you deleted and/or restored this article at one point in time, you might want to participate in the deletion review if you have not already done so. -- Jreferee t/c 23:19, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

There are a couple of problems here. First, there are still a lot of phrases and sentences that are copied from the source. This usually happens when you start with another text rather than writing from scratch. Changing a few words here and there does not avoid copyright infringement.

The other problem is that you claim to be the author, but the website attributes the bio to Roger B. J. Baron, and also indicates that he holds the copyright. So which is it? -- But|seriously|folks  04:06, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

There's no need to lose the article. As noted in the template, "To write a new article without infringing material, follow this link to a temporary subpage." So if you want to keep working on it, all you have to do is pull the text out of the history and save it on the subpage. Once the source text has all been removed, you can just replace the template with your new version. And voila, a nice copyvio free article has been created! -- But|seriously|folks  16:31, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

On your Revision as of 16:51, 9 April 2006 Carob you state: "Carob soothes the digestive tract and helps with diarrhoea. The main ingredients of carob are large carbohydrates. These make carob gummy so it acts as a thickener to absorb water and bind loose stools." In a different place in the article someone else states it has the opposing effect. Can you provide source material for your claim? Samfreed 07:37, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of the adventures of joe

hello, an article i wrote about a game i found on the internet, The Adventures of Joe has been requested for speedy deletion. This may be taken as advertising, but its NOT! i know several people i've never acctually met in real life who play this, so why is it getting deleted? How do you suggest i fix it?

Staten Island Ninja

You deleted Staten Island Ninja and wrote it off as nonsense but it is not. There were sources from the local newpaper and as a resident of the area I know it is true. You did not even put it up for discussion or nominate it for speedy deletion. There was no warning. One second it was there and then boom, its gone. You have no right to do so. Please restore the article Thorn in Side 01:21, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

disambiguation page

I added an entry for Dr Thomas Fitzgerald but searches always go straight to "Thomas Fitzgerald" Further searching found "Thomas Fitzgerald (disambiguation)" - now listing 7 Thomas Fitzgeralds. I assume for this page was intended as a disambiguation page, but to work it needs to be named "Thomas Fitzgerald" and to do this, the current "Thomas Fitzgerald" page would need to be renamed. If I 'move' the current "Thomas Fitzgerald" to a new name & if I do so, a redirect would normally be put in. Will I then be able to 'move' "Thomas Fitzgerald (disambiguation)" to "Thomas Fitzgerald" or do I have to do this differently? Any advise would be greatly appreciated Afactor 13:54, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing the page title and the disambiguation page. I don't know which TF is best-known but was hoping for a more egalitarian solution where the search would go straight to the disambiguation page rather than through one TF article in order to find the other six but am grateful that the article can at least be found now. Thank you very much for your help while I am learning my way round Wikipedia. Afactor 00:30, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

You and I had the same thought at just about the same time: moving Alex campos to Alex Campos. Unfortunately, since we overlapped, we ended up with a problem: I created Alex Campos (singer) and we now have a double redirect. Honestly, I am not certain how to fix that. Do you have any thoughts? Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 17:13, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, you're probably right. Let's leave it as it is, and we can always make changes later if there's confusion. Thanks for your reply. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 17:52, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Shopping

Other articles have been set up using the same types of titles. (Shopping in Dublin, Shopping in Letterkenny) --Balloholic 20:31, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed you tagged this article which was recently created. I saw the tag was removed, by the article creator, after I found my way to it via a related edit dispute in the Bangor, Maine article. I've created relevant tags also, since this needs cleanup. Anyway I was just popping by to ask if you wouldn't mind keeping the article on your watch list so there's two of us to help out the new editor? ColdmachineTalk 22:08, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Y-ka-pedia

It's not nonsense, it's satire and it was meant for a small group of people. I'm tired of the way that people constantly try to demonize Wikipedia when it has some of the most organized information on the Internet. I believe that sometimes it might not be the most reputable EVER but for the most part the people writing the articles probably wouldn't lie and for the most part, they cite their information!

Also, Y-ka-pedia was named as such because my idiotic World History teacher pronounces it that way and refuses to say it correctly. She's a ditz. Still, I really want to put Y-ka-pedia back up and I don't want people deleting it. It's only for a little group of people and its intention is satirical. Please let me post it. Also, how did you come across it in the first place?

Hi Deb, sut mae? Can I ask you as an admin here to delete Category:Monarchs of Rhôs, a superceded category no longer needed (see Talk)? Don't ask me what I'm doing here at this time of night/morning - just realised it's half past one! Cofion, Enaidmawr 00:32, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
