Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg

Hello there, I saw your note on deletion of the photo I added on Twitch's page at the request of he and his wife. I was unsure how particular Wiki was with crediting, so added the credit in a couple of places to ensure you would be happy. I respect that you would like a photo with no glasses, however I don't understand putting back up an outdated photo. They want Metal Mulisha removed since he left that group, but I see it was added back in to the companies. I have asked Susie Stenberg to have the photographer send images to your Wikipedia upload service via email rather than trying to do it via the upload service. Perhaps that will solve the issue. Sorry for any inconvenience. I definitely felt that Wiki would want the page to be correct and timely, so hopefully you can help the Stenbergs get their info updated. Thanks for your time. Since the image is not defamatory, it's of no concern what Mr. Stenberg or his wife wants. This is not their web site. Wikipedia just needs a photo of what the guy looks like. If they want to donate a photo without glasses and licence it CC-by-SA or public domain or whatever, more power to them. Motorcycle components spelling convention

help

I am trying to get the content up for Loaded Gun Customs using only reliable sources and removing all copy and pasted content. This is something i am helping a friend with and did not realize that things were completely word for word from other sources. Official links removed

Dennis,

You recently removed my links to the official BMW chartered F800 riders site. This is, unlike most groups and forums, actually sanctioned under BMW. I believe the link should be allowed as it provides immense knowledge specifically and only into the F800 series motorcycles that no other site can provide.

Since Wikipedia is not a directory, a complete list of links is undesirable. WP:ELNO states that links to clubs, forums, and other social media are inappropriate for most articles. WP:ELOFFICIAL says that generally only one official link to the articles subject is wanted; beyond that and the reader can follow links found on the main official site. So [1] is all that's needed.

What we really should be doing is finding independent reliable sources. If you can cite books, magazines and other reputable media with facts to go in the article, that is much more of an improvement than adding a link at the end.

The appropriate place to submit the link to the F800 forum is Open Directory Project at http://www.dmoz.org . --Dennis Bratland (talk) 20:26, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

non notable family members

Just a question about the non notable family members...I understand spouses and children are more often than not, "non-notable". Their achievments typically do not meet their parents notability. So, how do you determine if the spouse and/or children should be included? If you look back to when I created the Bubba Blackwell page, you can tell that I copied Evel Knievel's info box and replaced Evel's info with Bubba's bio. Since Evel had spouse/children and the template existed, I filled in the lines for Bubba. Obviously, Robbie Knievel has fame, but Evel's other children are not notable, nor was his wives. Not a big deal, and it makes sense that it's not included...but again, who gets mentioned and who doesn't?Docob5 (talk) 19:52, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

See WP:BLPNAME. First, is it cited in a reliable source? If you can't find a reputable publication who thought it worth while to tell us their spouse's and children's names, then it doesn't belong in Wikipedia. Second, is it necessary for understanding of the subject? Is it possible to understand Bubba Blackwell without knowing his wife and child's name?

Both Knievel's wives are notable and relevant because of the Cesar's Palace wedding, and the restraining order. Kelly Knievel is relevant for overseeing his father's legacy and performing as a boy, and Robbie Knievel is notable in his own right. Probably Tracey and Alicia Knievel's names should be deleted unless it is somehow necessary to identify them by name in order to make sense of the article. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 20:04, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks...makes sense that if one sibling is notable, the others should be mentioned for understanding. Also, I agree that Knievel's wives are notable (not to mention the George Hamilton movie was also about Linda), whereas, Bubba's family appears supportive. For Bubba (whatever it's worth), here's a Balwin County publication that refers to Bubba's family Baldwin County Now (2008)--the artcile is more about Bubba and the jump, but acknowledges the wife and daughter. Knievel's "preferred" ride

The reason I changed the XR-750 sentence from preferred "ride" to preferred "jump bike" was Knievel was a vehicle connoisseur and his preferred ride was likely his Stutz. So, I'm not sure if there's a better way to phrase the sentence? If not, I'm good with the current revision.Docob5 (talk) 22:56, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

I'd have to check, but I know of a couple sources that call it his "favorite motorcycle", so maybe we should use that phrase. With more research we can fill in the story of how he got his start with the Berliner Motor Corporation on a Norton Atlas scrambler, then used Triumphs for a long time. According to Knievel's descriptions, it seems like the main reason he rode the XR-750 was that Harley-Davidson was nicer to him than other sponsors. I've misplaced a great article about how his crash at Wembley could have been avoided if he had known that UK buses are wider than in the US, and changed the gearing on his bike accordingly to have the right launch speed. But apparently Knievel didn't want to bother with technical details and left it to others to work out. It explains that his stunt XR-750, for wheelies and such, had a larger rear sprocket for lower gearing. I'll try to find it and cite it.

Vectrix#New Vectrix has citation issues ... One is a Web forum, one is an unrelated user-submitted YouTube clip, and one is a company press release reprinted by a random spamsite. Plus my favorite grammar error: it's instead of its. Yes, higher speeds are possible for many bikes with trivial mods. But at the top of List of fastest production motorcycles it says "The fastest production motorcycle for a given year is the unmodified, street-legal motorcycle with the highest tested top speed that was manufactured in series and available for purchase by the general public." Making lists of modified motorcycle speeds is possible in theory, but how? Do you just make up your own criteria? Unmodified is something everyone can recognize, and it's far easier for find good sources. Motorcycle land-speed record only includes two FIM classes, but in fact FIM has many classes and the article could be expanded to have a section for each of them, if we have good sources. FIM record sheets are poorly collated and difficult to read. The S1000RR briefly held the FIM 1000 P-P class record of 196.117 mph until the Honda CBR1000RR surpassed it.[2] The reall confusing part is that "1000 P-P" class is called "unmodified" but that doesn't mean unmodified -- it just means the mods are relatively small. FIM unfortunately has no true bone stock unmodified class, so the only thing to go by is magazine tests. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 17:56, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
