Stats in football players' infoboxes[edit]

Hi, when you update the stats in football players' infoboxes please remember that you should also update the |pcupdate= (or |club-update=) parameter. This shows when the stats were last updated and prevents editors from accidentally updating the stats again. Thank you. --Jaellee (talk) 18:36, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reminder. You just have given me a very important advice. DerDFB (talk) 16:00, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks + invitation[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to women's football/soccer articles. I thought I'd let you know about the Women's Football/Soccer Task Force (WP:WOSO), a collaborative effort to improve Wikipedia's coverage of women's football/soccer. If you would like to participate, join by visiting the Members page. Thanks!

You're welcome. I am mainly focused on promoting women's football worldwide, especially in Germany, and making it relevant because women deserve to have equal status as men. DerDFB (talk) 16:02, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Investment[edit]

Im not sure if this would interest you, but you never know so:

I'd like to invite you to join the Investment WikiProject. There are a lot of Investment related articles on Wikipedia that could use a little attention, and I hope this project can help organize an effort to improve them. So please, take a look and if you like what you see, help get this project off the ground and a few Investment pages into the front ranks of Wikipedia articles. Thanks!

Cheers! WikiEditCrunch (talk) 11:15, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for sending me that message. I may be willing to join Investment WikiProject but this user account is only used for creating and improving articles related to football/soccer in Germany. Cheers, mate! DerDFB (talk) 11:30, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks I appreciate it!

Disambiguation link notification for October 3[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dayot Upamecano, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Red Bull Salzburg (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm aware of WP:KARLSRUHER, but I'm also aware of being able to write natural English, and writing "VfB Stuttgart" every time you refer to the club is not natural. There may be other Stuttgart clubs, but VfB is the main one and they're often referred to just as "Stuttgart" by the English language media. – PeeJay 16:01, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just look at the names of German clubs on other players' infoboxes. Almost none of the VfLs, VfBs, SCs, FSVs, etc. are piped. And also look at how the German clubs are correctly/incorrectly named on the three infoboxes mentioned in WP:KARLSRUHER. DerDFB (talk) 16:38, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but just because something is done a certain way on other pages doesn't make it right. You don't need to call them VfB Stuttgart every single time. – PeeJay 16:56, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry this has resulted in us both getting reported for edit warring, but if you're going to make reverts blindly citing an essay (not even official Wikipedia policy), you're bound to get some backlash to your edits. You have to be willing to have some discussion to get along here, not just ride roughshod over other people to get your way. – PeeJay 08:52, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to User:Jellyman, who has pointed out that WP:KARLSRUHER even says "Obviously in article prose, a shortened name can be used, once the proper name has been established, to make the text flow more easily". The proper name is already established at the top of the page, so there's no need to keep harping on calling them "VfB Stuttgart". – PeeJay 13:14, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I don't mean to offend or hurt you (because I want to comply with WP:CIVIL), but whatever you say does not change the fact that the VfBs should not be piped (especially in the infoboxes of various footballers). Just look at Khedira's and Kimmich's articles (example) for further proof. DerDFB (talk) 13:59, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
So first you cited WP:KARLSRUHER to support your case, and now I've pointed out that it actually supports my case, you're saying I should ignore it? Please make up your mind. If Khedira and Kimmich's articles don't pipe when they should, then I can change those too. – PeeJay 14:51, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Updating the career statistics section as well as the infobox[edit]

Hi DerDFB, I hope you are doing well. Thank you very much for updating the Schalka player's statistics in the infobox section of their respective articles. However if you could please also update the corresponding "career statistics" section which can be found in the lower section of most of these articles, that would be appreciated also, as it can help avoid the awkward situation of the infobox and career statistic box having a different number of match statistics. Thank you and happy editing! Inter&anthro (talk) 17:52, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Inter&anthro: Thanks for informing me about that. But unfornately the reason why I have preferred to update various players' stats on the infobox only is because I am mainly editing Wikipedia articles using my mobile phone and also updating the career stats of various players can be tiring for me. DerDFB (talk) 19:15, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewing proposed edits to Financial Accounting Standards Board[edit]

Hey DerDFB, I saw you're a member of WP:FINANCE and I was wondering if you had some time to review a new draft I'm proposing for the FASB. It's a long article, and I know it's a lot to look over, but I'm hoping to get as much feedback on it as possible given its large scope. It's mostly focused on reorganizing the article and clearly outlining both the history of the organization alongside the accounting standards that it's proposed in the past. If you could take a look at it, even just a small part, I'd really appreciate it.--FacultiesIntact (talk) 18:12, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WOSO editors! A few initiatives have been started with an emphasis on making more WOSO links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles.

If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, take a look at the initiatives listed in the box below. Sign up at the bottom of an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles ... or create your own initiative.

Alexander Meier[edit]

Did you see the game? Meier was the first to lift the trophy as Eintracht's captain. Check this.--Rebelheartous (talk) 10:17, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Still it does not change the fact that he played no part in Eintracht's cup win because he wasn't in the squad list for their DFB Pokal match against Bayern. DerDFB (talk) 10:47, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Lucas Vázquez wasn't included in Real Madrid's squad for the final w/ Juventus, either. Does that mean he did not win the CL?--Rebelheartous (talk) 11:02, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited SG Sonnenhof Großaspach, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mike Owusu (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

User 86.147.92.144[edit]

Hey, I saw that user 86.147.92.144 gave you trouble on André Schürrle as well. I don't know how to report people for excessive reverting, but he/she has been at this for well over an hour now. He/she continues to revert correct information. Do you know how to put a stop this annoyance? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anwegmann (talkcontribs) 22:00, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just report the IP address in question to either WP:AIV or WP:INCIDENT using Twinkle. DerDFB (talk) 22:05, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Typos[edit]

Hello, thanks for your contributions to squad navigational templates. However, I've noticed quite a few typos/mistakes added recently. For example Hertha (Maier's link not piped), Nürnberg (link to disambiguation page), Hoffenheim (bad formatting), along with Jena (Tietz's name misspelled), Darmstadt (Sattelmaier's name misspelled), Aalen (Fennell's name misspelled), and Würzburg (Gnaase's name misspelled). Please be a bit more careful (maybe check the edits), there should be no redlinked players. Cheers! S.A. Julio (talk) 20:48, 21 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your advice. I have the tendency to type names far too quickly which causes some names to be misspelled but I will try my best to be careful when typing. Cheers, mate! DerDFB (talk) 21:34, 21 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure about the short name of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim?[edit]

Hey DerDFB, I noticed on recent changes that you added a detail to Reiss Nelson, in which you changed the shortening of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim from Hoffenheim to 1899 Hoffenheim. There's nothing in the Manual of Style about shortened football club names, but I think unless there's another strong club with the almost the same name, or the club's name isn't the city's name, shortening it to only the name of the city is better. You seem to be a German football expert so I didn't change it. It's a small detail, but small details make articles much better. What do you think? Contraption5000 (talk) 15:01, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just look at Firmino's, Süle's and Nagelsmann's articles for futher proof. Also, read the naming concepts of German football clubs (mainly in infoboxes) here. DerDFB (talk) 15:07, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I did not know that. I mostly edit on English football. Thanks for clarifying! Contraption5000 (talk) 15:15, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! DerDFB (talk) 15:18, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jonas Hofmann[edit]

Hi DerDFB, regarding your edited, the bio of Jonas Hofmann was already outdated. I got source from this article and editing his bio. His wiki page is also using references from this page (you can see [22]). Please check it out. Cheers! User:Anhp7 (talk) 21:22, 29 October 2018 (UTC).[reply]

Update: Hey man I don't understand that. Why you try to revert the outdated info on Jonas Hofmann page(career statistic). I'm seriously updated by valid reference sources which was used by his wiki page. Have you watched him play before? His main role is central midfielder now, not winger. Regards

That's why I actually changed his playing position from winger to midifielder. And by the way, when updating stats, you should also update the date, on both the infoboxes (using five tlides), and above the career stats' box. DerDFB (talk) 18:13, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You are right about one thing. Hello, I noticed that you took down my new picture of Goretzka due to copyright issues? When I look at the file on Wikimedia (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:20190428_DFL_1._Bundesliga_FCN_-_FCB_850_0557.jpg) it says that the file is licensed freely. Actually, you are free to replace the existing image of Goretzka with the one you are suggesting. What a year to be alive. As usual (but perhaps even moreso since there have been unexpected quarantines), there has been a lot of activity on player, team, league and tournament-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of women's football / soccer. Great work!

Fall Focus: FA WSL articles

You may have noticed lots of great things going on for the top English league this year: the FA WSL. More (international!) broadcasts, top international player signings, improved media coverage, and increased viewership. Let's keep the momentum brewing, shall we?

Here's a sampling of articles that could use creation, expansion or updating. What will you commit to working on?

Use of MDY and Incomplete Stat Updates[edit]

I have noticed that every time you update the stats of Josh Sargent and John Brooks (soccer, born 1993), you update only the infobox stats and not the stat chart at the bottom. Likewise, you use DMY date format when both pages say "Use MDY dates" at the top. I appreciate your work updating stats, but updating stats incompletely and using the wrong date format simply makes life harder on those of us who have to go back each time and fill in the gaps you have left and correct the dates. Please, in the future, update the stats completely—meaning both the infobox at the top and the stat chart at the bottom—and use proper date format. Anwegmann (talk) 03:05, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's acceptable to only update the infobox. But I agree that the date format should be kept. Robby.is.on (talk) 08:42, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

April Drive finished: The month-long April Content-creation Drive has now concluded. Our first content drive was a great start for what will be a regular feature of our Wikiproject. We will be doing them every other month, so there's none for May, but I look forward to seeing you sign up for the June edition. The drive's target was to improve Wikipedia's coverage of financial markets. Awards were given to those who participated.

June Drive topic for discussion: We're currently brainstorming topics for our June Content-creation Drive. Join the discussion here.

Content work: Two articles in our purview have received DYK nominations. Real Estate Bank of Arkansas was created and nominated by Hog Farm and Ranchlander National Bank was created and nominated by Sammi Brie. They're currently running in the WikiCup, so good luck to them! UBS has been nominated for a Good article reassessment. If you wish to help, leave comments in the nomination.

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:33, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
