Radio Five Live

The deletion was requested for housekeeping purposes here by User:Marknew. Ask him what the story is. Harro5 10:37, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

I didn't request a deletion as such: I requested that the histories of BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio Five Live be merged (to fix a copy-and-paste move), following the instructions at Wikipedia:How to fix cut and paste moves. According to that page, an administrator must temporarily delete the article, then follow the repair process. Since I am not an administrator, I couldn't do this myself! Hopefully Harro5 will now complete the process, now that I have told him. --Marknew 13:21, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

Stop posting your incorrect "facts" about BBC Radio Lincolnshire. You clearly have little knowledge of the station or its staff. --Differentgravy 18:51, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

GUS Band

The article GUS Band has been or soon will be deleted from Wikipedia. This happened because the article seems to be about a subject but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. You might also want to read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Carre's Grammar School, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Education in North East England

Hi, I noticed that you added a section to the North East England article on education. I was wondering just what you meant by the NE schooling system is completely comprehensive. I can think of a number of traditionally private and selective independent schools in the region, probably as many as in other northern regions. Or am I just being thick, which isn't unusual. There is no LEA that consists of wholly seclective schools I admit. hedpeguyuk 16:40, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Gt Casterton

Hi, What is the basis of your comment that "The parish is shared with Tickencote and Little Casterton". Unless this has recently changed, Gt C is a separate parish (both civil and ecclesiastical). Possibly you mena the benefice is shared ... (i.e. the distinct parishes share a priest). In which case I believe Pickworth should be added.

Thanks,"Ned" —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nedrutland (talkcontribs) 17:13, 2 April 2007 (UTC). Sorry - new to this! Nedrutland 17:55, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Please provide sources for the paragraph you've added to the above; given that the subject is a living person, and this material could certainly be seen as contentious, as a matter of Wikipedia policy these are required, or else the material will have to be removed. Alai 22:50, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Regarding edits to Scooby Snacks

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, DinosaursLoveExistence! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on Spalding Grammar School, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Alex valavanis 17:10, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Welcome, and thank you for your attempt to lighten up Wikipedia. However, this is an encyclopedia and the articles are intended to be serious, so please don't make joke edits, as you did to Chris Moyles. Readers looking for serious articles will not find them amusing. Kent

As you know the Education system in Kent is a deeply politicised issue. I have read your analysis and I fail to identify the 25 schools who you refer to as comprehensive- the catholic sector did offer 'Comprehensive' education and Sheppey did and so did the Hoo peninsula. Bennet Memorial was (if I remember right) a CofE secondary modern that called itself a comprehensive for children who had failed the Kent Test. Which brings me to the point- you have not included your references- so I cannot verify. WP:5P.

Further another editor spends hours of her time copy editing Kent articles adding references where they have been ommitted. This is also serious point , as your work looks like a point of view and original work and is likely to get savaged if you cannot prove otherwise. You also filled out the article on Gwyn- could you provide the references there please. ClemRutter 09:03, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

North Yorkshire

Thank you for the information on education you supplied on the North Yorkshire article, but it lacks sources. Please could you provide the sources from which the information was derived so that others can check out the details. It is one of the basic requirements of Wikipedia to provide sources for material added - see WP:Cite

Dorset education

Hi! You recently added education info into the Dorset article. I decided to put it into a sortable wikitable, and noticed that there was no reference for the info, which is necessary for such a lot of data. If possible could you add a ref or find out a weblink/publication title? All the best! Rossenglish (talk) 12:32, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Phil Woolas

Hello,

The source you've provided ([1]) does not say Phil Woolas was born in Scunthorpe. Can you explain your rationale for this change or provide a different source please? -- Jza84 · (talk) 14:33, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Your edits to Caroline Flint

I have reverted your addition to the above (my edit). I'm sure you know that Wikipedia's policy on biographies of living people states that all edits must be completely referenced to a reliable source. If you really think that Flint's sex life is good material for an encyclopedia, then re-add it (I won't edit war), but please make the source crystal-clear. Regards, Mr Stephen (talk) 16:33, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

This text has been floating in and out of the article for several months, and has also been discussed at Talk:Caroline Flint#Sources_for_.22personal_life.22_section. That text seems to me to be of at best marginal relevance to the career of a politician, but even if you take a different view, please do not reinstate it unless it is all referenced to reliable sources. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 17:59, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Copyvio

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Abi Titmuss article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. You can also leave a message on my talk page. --Yamla (talk) 19:05, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did to Abi Titmuss. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. --Yamla (talk) 19:09, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

2007 West Midlands Education data

Just wondering, where did you get the top 20 list from? It needs to be sourced in the article otherwise it isn't verifiable. Thanks, Asdfasdf1231234 (talk) 20:52, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh right, thay's cool. Did you collate all the data yourself then or is it all listed somewhere? If so can it just be put in the article somewhere? :) Thanks, Asdfasdf1231234 (talk) 12:57, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. One of the core policies of Wikipedia is that articles should always be written from a neutral point of view. Linking to off-Wiki images

I noticed that you are making links to off-Wiki images such as these. It's not really a good idea to make inline links like that. I looked at a couple of the images and noticed that they are licensed in way that is compatible with Wikipedia. So what I suggest is that instead of linking to them try the following. Go to Wikimedia Commons, see Wikipedia:Wikimedia Commons, and set up an account there. Then you can download images such as this or this and using the code (and this) they provide upload the images to the Commons. Then some of the images could be used right in the Wikipedia articles rather than linking to them. You can also a template like the one seen at Yellowknife#See also to show where the rest of the images can be seen. Just make sure that the images have a Creative Commons licence. If you need any help please let me know or ask User:Alison who is an administrator on Commons as well as here. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 20:59, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the article Chris Moyles has an edit summary that appears to be inaccurate or inappropriate. External links

I notice several of your recent edits include external links in the body of the article. This really should be avoided, especially if those links add nothing to the article. See Wikipedia:External links. If however you are adding these as references, they should be formatted using the appropriate reference tags. Thanks for your contributions nevertheless, hope you bear this in mind with your future edits.Thaf (talk) 14:45, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Club18-30Logo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Club18-30Logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

November 2008

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Newcastle University do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. TubularWorld (talk) 13:44, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia's policy on External linking is very clear, this is an encyclopaedia, not a repository of links. If people want this type of information, they can go to any search engine. --TubularWorld (talk) 14:53, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Ditto above for Dorset youtube link. --Charles (talk) 22:06, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to United States Department of State. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Tedickey (talk) 14:25, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

My apologies. Of course they're not in the East Midlands. Not quite sure how they slipped in there. They actually belong in an as yet uncreated template which I'll get round to doing eventually. Thanks for tidying things up. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 12:18, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (File:PerkinsLogo.jpg)

You've uploaded File:PerkinsLogo.jpg, and indicated that it's used under Wikipedia's rules for non-free images. However, it's not presently used in any articles. External link spam and warning

A number of users above have commented on inappropriate link additions. I have removed the entire set of audio links on Symphony for Organ No. 5 (Widor), as spam - we do not need 7 audio recordings -- all linked to the classicalshop.net's download site.

Please do not reinstate these. It's a very famous piece, and I am sure free or non-pay exemplars exist for encyclopedic purposes.

Also you have had a large number of warnings and comments on these themes, dating back in some cases to 2007. Although anyone may edit Wikipedia, if you wish to edit you do need to heed comments left for you. Please re-read the comments on this page, and do not repeat, otherwise you may well be blocked for improper editing in future.

Disputed fair use rationale for File:Semta rgb strap.jpg}

Thank you for uploading File:Semta rgb strap.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Proposed deletion of British Expertise

The article British Expertise has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:CORP

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Falcon8765 (talk) 04:00, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Unwins Seeds requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. I've just reverted an edit of yours that claimed that Daring is "the first ship in the world with an all-electric ... power system i.e. it has no gearbox". I'm afraid BAE's publicity department is leading you into error! There have been ships with all-electric propulsion since at least the early part of the 20th century - for an example, see USS Langley (CV-1). Furthermore, the source given says that she is "the first front-line warship to use all-electric propulsion", which is not what the edit says, and is also demonstrably false.

I'd also suggest that the details of her propulsion system should go in Type 45 destroyer, rather than HMS Daring (D32), since they pertain to all the ships of the class. By the way, be aware of sweeping statements like "The ship also is the most fuel efficient in the Royal Navy, using around 35 cubic metres of fuel a day. As a comparison, its engines could provide enough electrical power for every house in Dundee. It could travel from Scotland to the Falklands and back without refuelling." HMS Scott, for example, uses about 20 cubic meters of fuel a day, displaces twice as much, and carries twice as much fuel, making her far more fuel-efficient and giving her a far greater range, whichever way you look at it.

I hope this help to clarify. Yours, Shem (talk) 11:32, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Rachel Burden

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Rachel Burden. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rachel Burden. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:09, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Lincoln Christ's Hospital School

DLE,

Looking at the page history, it seems that anonymous editors sometimes contribute useful information - for example, [3] [4]. At the same time, the vandalism is not overwhelmingly frequent. So despite the annoyance of reverting vandalism, it seems to me preferable to leave the page unprotected to all users. What do you think?

Λυδαcιτγ 03:03, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

I understand your frustration, but it's worth reverting 10 vandalistic deletions if it means getting one useful edit. I will monitor changes to the page myself for at least a little while. Λυδαcιτγ 21:18, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello DinosaursLoveExistence! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 935 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Hi! I noticed you added a lot of information to the Rolls-Royce Pegasus article, which is great! However, you didn't add any citations to the article. Can you please cite your additions? Also, I noticed that you reorganized the article some (new headings, etc.). When there is so little information under each heading, it is customary to leave it as longer prose paragraphs. As more information is added, you can break it into sections, but it looks a bit messy as it is now. Please stop by [aero-engine task force] if you interested in helping out with articles! -SidewinderX (talk) 03:02, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi again! Thanks for responding to my comment. I did notice the link to the video at the bottom of the article; that's great. However, we need inline citations in the article. The video is a perfectly fine source to cite, particularly if it is online. You just need to cite it using ref tags. Check out WP:CITE for details on how to do this. It's always great to another aero-engine editor. Stop by WP:AETF and say hi on the talk page! -SidewinderX (talk) 16:31, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Election candidates

Hi, thanks for your message. I'm not planning on making articles for candidates. If any of the redlinks on election candidates get created, they will show up in the related changes (that's the reason - both MPs and candidates will be more at risk near the election). I welcome articles about candidates in safe seats - they'll almost certainly need to be created in a few months anyway - but others disagree, and the guideline supports deletion attempts in many cases. --h2g2bob (talk) 23:10, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Family Focus requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Grim23 18:56, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
