Sorry about the blank page. The Ferret 50 is a high-caliber sniper rifle and I was going to create a short article about it but I had to find some info on it. How do I open up my sandbox?Prussian725 (talk) 16:41, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

you deleted Keith G. Lucy

You deleted the Page Keith G Lucy, which I created. Mr. Lucy is the current Chairman of the Board of Selectman in Danvers and gets significant coverage in several newpapers as well as bing a host on a local television program. This was the criteria I read on the guidelines page before I wrote the page. Please restore the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Danvers (talkcontribs) 04:51, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Little Tikes

I saw an article Little tikes and assumed that I would change it to the article for Little Tikes, only to find that it had been speedy deleted. This is a major company, and I find it hard to believe that a valid article cannot be created. Can I please ask you to userfy the article for me as a starting point so that I can expand it with the required reliable and verifiable sources, while removing any blatant advertising? Alansohn (talk) 23:15, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

It was speedied multiple times as it is a blatant copy-and-paste copyvio of the content at [1]; the first time I tagged for G11 because I couldn't find the copyvio. MuZemike 16:35, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
The article I would benefit from most would be the Little Tikes, this time to User:Alansohn/Little Tikes. Sorry I wasn't clearer. Alansohn (talk) 17:51, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the restore and userfy. I agree that there was little there that was useful, and I used little of the text in recreating the Little Tikes article, or in the companion article for the Cozy Coupe, both articles of which should pass muster. Thanks for your assistance. Alansohn (talk) 19:27, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

HELLO FROM THE WE WORK TOGETHER SHOW

A fan of our online talk radio program recently created a Wikipedia page detailing the persons involved with our show, etc. It was summarily deleted by both yourself and SarekofVulcan.

I have sent Sarek a request to appear on our program and explain why the page was deleted, with an eye towards establishing the legitimacy of our show and its right to have a Wikipedia page. I have not yet heard back from him.

Please respond to me at weworktogethershow@gmail.com and let me know if you would be interested in joining us on the air to discuss Wikipedia's changing policies regarding user-generated entries, as well as the (apparently strict) requirements for establishing "legitimacy".

Thanks in advance, and I hope to hear back from you soon.

AfD nomination of Les Henderson

The article Les Henderson has been listed for deletion. As you have in the past been involved in editing the (recently also deleted) section Talent scouting scandal on Lou Pearlman you may be interested in the deletion discussion. AfD nomination of Katarzyna Dolinska

An editor has nominated Katarzyna Dolinska, an article which you have created or worked on, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Katarzyna Dolinska and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. ... MistyWillows talk 18:41, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Cartoon-atures deletion

Hello Discospinster,

I am Dan Phelps and I am new to wikipedia.

I wanted to create a page for what I call 'Cartoon-atures' so people could find out what they are.

I did not mean to advertise, I know that is not why wikipedia is here. If the website being posted on there was the problem, I will happily remove it.

I just wanted to explain what a 'Cartoon-ature' was so the name would be understandable. And this is a great place to explain things.

Love the site!

Thank you very much, Dan Phelps —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dan Phelps Inc (talkcontribs) 15:12, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Could you please return to Talk:Toucan and explain this excision?

I don't understand your objection to the link you excised. I think you removed very important information from the article. I think if you can substantiate your objection to the link it would have have been more appropriate to have unlinked the URL, and left the information that the Yerba beans need to pass through a Toucan to germinate, with a {{cn}}.

question...

I understand you placed a speedy deletion tag on the Abdul Waheed disambiguation page on March 17th. But there is no record that you honored the convention of informing the good faith creator of that page that you placed that tag.

I see you are a quality control volunteer. Is it your regular practice to ignore the convention that those placing deletion tags inform the good faith creator and major contributors of the nomination? If so, can I suggest, in the interest of enhancing the wikipedia's store of good faith, that you consider informing people when you make nominations?

deleted article

I am new to this rehlm of information sharing, and as far as I can tell you deleted my article based on the fact that I was using it as an advertising forum. No. 1) I was simply trying to give the history and background of a company that has excelled in an otherwise sluggish market. The fact that I would use Wikipedia to advertise is an obtuse conclusion. No. 2) I had all of 2 days to work on this article, and considering the learning curve and lack of any real support, from a web-master or tech advisor, this article was simply a work in progress. No. 3) I was quite excited to explore and learn this innovative info highway, would a warning or some help in article prep not have been warranted. The fact that it took me 2 days (keep in mind that I was working on this while still consumed with my other duties) to get one quarter of the way through this article, and it took you probabley 2 minutes to delete it. I spent an hour today trying to figure out what was appropriate and what was not to comprise an informative "essay" on the history and growth of a company that has defied all odds in tha slump market. I do not need Wikipedia to help me advertise...this was to give a history, or account of our climb to success. If an article on a corportation is written, and I'm sure I can find one, should you not delete that as well. I am disapointed and insulted by your lack of regard, and with the speed with which you decided to display your power and delete a new members attempt to add to your web site. Saying all that to say...next time you decide to shut someone down...how about you consider contacting them and explaining what they have done that constitutes their work being aborted with such lack of true consideration. Thanks for the help...if I'm wrong in writing this, then I apologize, but simply reconsider your ethics. Final word on this matter...I was not attempting to use this arena for free advertising, I was documenting a companies history and planned on contemplating it's future. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Changing Spaces Moving, Inc. I see that the newly created stub Seán Ryan (Irish judge) has been deleted, with the edit summary:
"19:42, 5 June 2009 Discospinster (talk | contribs) deleted "Seán Ryan (Irish judge)" ‎(G7: One author who has requested deletion or blanked the page)".
I wonder if this deletion was appropriate.
I had made some edits to Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse (a major controversy currently occurring in Ireland). The commission was originally chaired by High Court judge Mary Laffoy, and more recently by Seán Ryan (Irish judge). I noticed that although we had an article on Laffoy, we didn't have one on Ryan. As an anon IP, I can't create articles. I also don't know anything about Ryan, or about the Irish legal system and government in general. I posted to WikiProject Ireland requesting that an article be created. (Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Ireland#Can_someone_create_stub_for_Justice_Sean_Ryan.3F) .
It was created, but the creator very rapidly became unhappy that others were not adding content to the article (discussion on my Talk page and his, if you're interested), and (as far as I can see) requested that it be deleted.
I continue to think that Wikipedia should have an article on this individual.
I would appreciate your thoughts on the appropriateness or otherwise of our having an article on this individual, as well as any thoughts on how I've handled this matter. Thank you. -- 201.37.230.43 (talk) 23:31, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Anderson Ranch Arts Center deleted

While it was a long while ago, you deleted the page for Anderson Ranch Arts Center stating "blatant advertising". If edits need to be incorporated so be it, but it's a 501c3 non-profit visual arts education organization with a 40 year history with robust program offerings available to the public. Additionally there are multiple page/individual links to it which should speak to its legitimacy. The deletion of the page was overlooked due to a personnel change within the organization. Please restore the page.

Just wonder if we've been hasty. Originally I thought he'd pasted it in and then gone, but he slipped in a quick edit while I was doing the deletion request - I suggested he work on the translation in his user space. I've never made an edit to any article, and wouldn't know where to start. I have made an account, as the page said to do if it's not me, so hopefully they won't be attached to me anymore... I will also see about securing my network further, hopefully to stop any in the future. Is there anything else I should do? Rimedragona (talk) 18:48, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello Discospinster. You recently deleted this article citing that it had been subject to a prior AFD (i.e. WP:CSD#G4. Ordinarily I think that's fine but the reasons behind that particular version being deleted (according to the AFD) were WP:OR and copvios. Dweller is really busy in real life but has asked me if it's possible that you'll consider undeleting it and maybe let it go through another AFD as it is sufficiently different from the version deleted in June 2008. Perhaps in this AFD we'll be able to address any concerns and ensure the article is notable, verifiable and doesn't suffer from OR or copyvios. Best to you in advance. Wow, that was a speedy deletion! 9/12 Candidate

  • No warning. It was there an hour ago, now it's gone. Why did you delete 9/12 Candidate ? Yes, I read the A7 note and I don't see why this article rated being deleted. I don't get it. Now we've got some articles that link to a non-existent page. Please un-delete. WashingtonIsBroke (talk) 01:01, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Ok, got it. A7. Yup, so the article didn't state it's importance. So, why not tell us and let us re-write. The last time the article was "deleted" it was changed to a redirect to Glenn Beck's page with the editor citing that "most of the information was on Glenn's page." Sure the principles and values of the 9/12 movement are listed on Glenn's page, but applying them in contract form is something unique to 9/12 Candidates. It seems to me that we should have been given opportunity to explain the significance of this group, been given some guidance on what is considered significant enough for Wikipedia. I thought Wikipedia prided itself on the dynamic versatility of the site being generated from user based content. If that's so, then why delete? Sure, this group of volunteers is a phenomenon. There's no budget, they don't have a need for money, they'll never be a solidified "non-profit," but if you can gather together citizens to be politically active, have straight forward goals, and within a few short weeks warrant the attention of some significant figures--isn't it worth taking a gamble that maybe the organization would qualify for something significant in just a few more weeks? C'mon now. You folks allowed Flock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flock_(web_browser)) to have an article before they even had a beta version ready for testing. Have your standards suddenly increased or is this because the subject matter is more conservative than many of your articles?

70.243.182.46 (talk) 10:10, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Let me address your concerns in turn:
  • The {{db-corp}} tag that's placed on the article notifies editors that it'll possibly be deleted unless the concerns about notability are rectified. If an editor wants to contest the speedy deletion, s/he would add the {{hangon}} tag to the article and explain his/her concerns on the article's talk page.
  • Although Wikipedia tries to be versatile and open, there are still criteria for notability that were developed from much discussion (and they're still being discussed today). The criteria are slightly different based on the subject matter (biographies, organizations, web content, etc.) but they all include the general notability criterion: "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article." The 9/12 Candidate article did not include any such references, only links to the organizations own web page.
  • By contrast, the Flock (web browser) article that you mentioned, upon creation, did include a mention in a reliable source (namely, Wired [5]) even before the browser was released to the public.
  • Whether the subject matter is conservative or liberal, the same standards apply. In fact, shortly before I deleted the 9/12 Candidate article, I deleted an article about the Alternatives to marriage project, which I would assume is a liberal, rather than conservative, organization.
  • Since you objected directly to me, I've restored the article and put it up for discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/9/12 Candidate if you would like to contribute. ... discospinster talk 20:34, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
  • You've given me a lot of reading to do. 9/12 Candidate needs to be re-written to accommodate wikipedia's standards. This will take a bit of time. I do have a lot of reading to make sure I get it right. Will you please contact me via email prior to deletion (jacob at 912candidates.org) so I can extract the wiki code, work on it, and make it viable for republication once it's gotten more notariety. You see, we're probably really close to where we need to be, but I've got to read some more on wikipedia's standards to make sure I'm compliant. In the interim of my reading and editing it may be inappropriate to have the page online. Still, I think there's something to be said that there are many candidates who are coming out in support of this. I should think that the AIP's endorsement etc mean that we're getting closer to the appropriate standard.
    • Thank you for your honesty. I must admit, that my last comment was written with a bit more passion than necessary. I do hope you'll understand.

155.219.241.11 (talk) 17:17, 1 July 2009 (UTC) (JFR).

  • I have added links to further reviews and sales sites. Please could you take a brief look at the page and reconsider your decision or tell me directly why it is not notable. Thanks. Dogman29 (talk) 22:42, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Why wasn't it marked with this? The whole article was made up and ciated no references at all really, so therefore it was nonsense. I notice that it has been deleted now. Perhaps retirement from Wikipedia may suit a person such as myself. I haven't taken this personally before you comment on my sarcastic nature - I am merely upset that articles which people slave over can be deleted with such disinterest. I understand that it was not suitable for Wikipedia and therefore I don't defend the article. However, I will not slave over pages anymore. Dogman29 (talk) 03:50, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Article deletion question

Hi Discospinster,

Earlier today you deleted an article I'd created (called "Mark2100"). I respect your reasoning for deleting it, I looked up the A7 code to understand why you removed it. For my own knowledge (still newish to Wikipedia), would it be wrong to recreate the article if this time I included a credible claim of importance (say blog subscribers)? Or should I just not resubmit that article?

Thanks,

Mark. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Markandersondublin (talkcontribs) 16:31, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Could you userfy the deleted Brad A. Meyers for me, please? I want to recover its content to see if I can merge them to a relevant article. Anyway I think you were too quick to delete it through speedy deletion; according to New pages patrol to which you subscribe, you shouldn't use A7 on an article for non being notable.
