Hello, i am the the one who uploaded the page "Ak Welsapar" and i would like to know why it was deleted. The copyright belongs to The Publishing House Gün, and i am the PR manager there. The copyright was written both in the text and on the talkpage.

Hi! Thanks so much for your help. I have included references in the article as mentioned in the guidelines and saved the copy in my sandbox. However, I am still not sure how to move the article out of sandbox and publish it. Also, the references are under a list of numbers, not sure what I am doing wrong. If you could help me out with this, that would be great. Thanks again.Tarun23 (talk) 19:36, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Hello Discospinster. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Afluenta, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Article claims importance/significance of the subject. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 04:02, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Yangfit

Hi, can you have a look at Yangfit for me please to make sure I marked it correctly for deletion

Thanks Gavbadger (talk) 04:12, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

(passer-by comment) RHaworth obviously agreed. I'd say borderline, and would have prodded for notability as well just in case. It couldn't be a case for A7, as it's not a company or person or webcontent. If it had been Yangfit Inc, I'd have put A7 not prod. Spam things, you have to be careful. If they're blatant like 'we make the finest blodgers in the union, and 98% of Arizona'a poggy snafflers use nothing but our blodgers', there's no query. Even if it's true (usually dubious...). Some spam writers are getting wise and dropping the PR speak. If it's neutral to pass CSD, it can always be prodded or AfDed if you're convinced of the intention. Sometimes this results in a sound article - which is the real object of being here. Sorry to DQ for sticking my nose in... Peridon (talk) 14:04, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

I've deleted it - looks all self-published. The alleged 'Six letters' publisher is lulu. The article looks to have been a copyvio of the goodreads profile, which isn't an RS anyway. (Didn't delete for that - found it later... Worth noting in case it reappears. Peridon (talk) 13:54, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

Don't know how to deal with this one on New Page Patrol. It seems to have a linked downloadable zip file that could contain the virus - there appears no speedy delete cat to deal with this. Thanks. Acabashi (talk) 16:46, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Hold your horses mate, I decided to add to the article before contesting the deletion (which is the only way that makes sense to me - provide value first, then properly assess the new state of the article). In the meantime I see that you've deleted the article which disheartens me but I will give this another try. You can look at my talk page to see the article's new state: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Makeybussines (I don't know if you can see my sandbox so used the talk instead). I'd love for you to tell me what else I can do to justify the article. I'm quite knowledgeable about the New Zealand Early Childhood Sector (it's what I work with), and plan to add more stuff here and there but if you make it too hard on me I'm gonna give up right away, this is not the attitude I was looking for. --Makeybussines (talk) 22:50, 10 April 2012 (UTC) Thank you for the information provided, is the article 'good enough' in its new version or does it require further additions? I keep having to play whack a mole on these articles — revert revert revert, requesting page locks, etc. I'm just going around in circles here and really want to put an end to this. Deletion of Wang Haibo

Hello. As you may know, the page of Wang Haibo was deleted. This was due to several people who had contributed to the page without sourcing correctly.

See, this Wang Haibo is not a real person; he is a rather famous fictitious character whom had garnered a cult following across several popular Facebook sites. He has become recognised by tens of thousands of people, some of whom have come to literally worship him. His significance in such tales as "The Rise of Gangneung City" and "The Bigger They Are, The Harder They Fall: A Story of James Fleming" surely merits a Wikipedia page. If monitored regularly, it can become a verified and reputable page with well-sourced information.

A "cult following" is generally not enough to sustain a Wikipedia article. Subjects must be notable per certain criteria. ... discospinster talk 16:25, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
May I ask what criteria is that? I'm sure Wang Haibo fulfils it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.96.106.20 (talk) 16:27, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
The general notability guideline can be found here: WP:GNG. The topic must have received significant coverage in multiple, independent reliable sources. ... discospinster talk 16:30, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
This YouTube video is a spoof of a legit interview between Mei Li-Yo, a young Korean television presenter, and Zuahang Chung, who voiced Wang Haibo in several viral videos. The station, STARKOREA, has unfortunately closed last month, although I believe that it should not be too hard to find archived videos elsewhere on YouTube. Haibo, besides being a fictional character with a cult following, is also an internet celebrity; which seems to have been enough for Allison Harvard to sustain a page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.96.106.20 (talk) 16:39, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Wang Haibo Deletion

Hey Mate,

I just wanted to say, there are no hard feelings about deleting the page, I know it was immature of me. Once again, apologies.

Not sure this was a clear-cut G10: the negative information had been repeatedly inserted by IPs after the article had been created, and I had written an entry at WP:RPP. Not quite an A7 either, though it was definitely a BLP-Prod. -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 17:03, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

The original author had added "While roaming the streets of Gangneung, selling himself as a prostitute" to the article, before any IPs had even got to it. The article itself was created with the intention of violating BLP, or at the very least, to vandalize. ... discospinster talk 18:13, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Reliability guidelines are not as important as accuracy

With your edit of platinum, I already stated that "reliability" was not as important as what is correct. While you certainly can't be using Yahoo answers as a source, nobody can deny that my sources can be considered reliable. While my sense of understanding about Wikipedia's rules is not very strong, can we please sort this out before you start reverting all of my edits just because it doesn't meet some biased (judging based on who wrote it, where it came from, and when) requirement? I'm not trying to cause trouble, but to contribute, and it doesn't make you feel better when people are buzzing you with a one-sided view. --96.242.163.228 (talk) 21:47, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

I reverted your edit because it was not carefully done (it repeated words in the paragraph), and there was no need to delete the existing reference. ... discospinster talk 21:51, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

We can put the reference part later in the article, but I still believe that that source was wrong in terms of etymology. --96.242.163.228 (talk) 21:59, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Hacketstown and Vandalism

Hi Discospinster, I have tried to deal with Vandalism by User:Crake69, User:Andrewbyrne70 and User:193.61.159.20 on Hacketstown article, but slightly unsure how to deal with edits by User:193.61.159.20 other pages, any advice, and can this user be blocked? Thanks Mrchris (talk) 18:33, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

It seems to have died down for the moment, so blocking wouldn't be necessary. The IP is probably not the same person every day, since the edits don't follow a pattern. I've placed the article on my watchlist, and if there is further vandalism from a similar IP I will block it right away. ... discospinster talk 21:53, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Disco - thanks for cleaning up some of the crap at masculism. It had been on my to-do list for a while. Be aware that articles in that group tend to attract massive numbers of off-site trolls, and sometimes significant harassment (including offsite/irl harassment) to editors involved in cleaning them up to encyclopedic standards. (any article related to men's rights, which will include masculism, are also under community sanctions imposed by ANI some time ago.. which make it easier to deal with the really problematic editors they sometimes attract.) Kevin Gorman (talk) 16:25, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

No problem. I expect to get complaints from both sides, and it'll never satisfy everyone, but as long as it can be kept neutral then we're doing our jobs! ... discospinster talk 19:24, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I need to ask your opinion on the above article. I tagged it for speedy deletion at 23:05 on 23rd April because it clearly didn't meet WP:ORG. 14 minutes later the creating editor tagged it with {{newpage}} and another user subsequently removed the speedy deletion tag as a result.

Nobody has edited the article for the last 36 hours, and I still don't think it meets our notability criteria. At what point is it acceptable to say this is no longer a new page and is therefore eligible to be nominated for deletion? Or is that the wrong approach to take? -- roleplayer 19:10, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

It's not clear from the history whether the editor removed the tag on purpose, since there's nothing about it in the edit summary or on the talk page. Just to be on the safe side, better go with a proposed deletion if you still feel that it's not an appropriate article. Or you could move it to user space. ... discospinster talk 19:41, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
I have PROD'd it. I debated over that one following your response, and it was the fact that it's a bit advert-y and the website was launched the same day the article was created that swung it to prodtown for me. Thanks for looking at it for me. -- roleplayer 20:02, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
PS what is the inspiration behind the name discospinster? -- roleplayer 20:06, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Hello.

I would like to (since I do not have the ability to do so) request an edit to the above template, to be changed in a similar way as to the way I did so here when the wording was unsuitable. I would also like to request that there be something like ",as you did at {{{1}}}" be added to it as well. I would also like to request your comment on a couple of other edit requests which I made at Wikipedia talk:Template messages/User talk namespace. Thanks. 75.53.218.81 (talk) 01:24, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Well I'm not very handy with templates so I wouldn't be able to make the change myself. Maybe you could add another edit request like you did with {{uw-delete2}}? ... discospinster talk 16:00, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
I was asking you personally since my existing request appears to remain unanswered. Do you know any active administrator who I can personally contact for my request? Thanks very much in advance. 75.53.218.81 (talk) 20:06, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
OK, as for adding the parameter {{1}}, it used to be there but then it was removed following a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Template messages/User talk namespace/Archive 12#tweak of Template:Uw-attack. The wording change to add "or make any other insertions to Wikipedia" seems OK to me, although maybe {{uw-vand}} would achieve the same goal? Maybe the reason it's not already in the attack template is because we don't want to bring attention to the edit (whereas an attack page can be deleted altogether).
You might be able to find more help from one of the editors at Wikipedia:WikiProject user warnings#Participants. User:Anomie, for example, is an administrator and pretty active. ... discospinster talk 20:38, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

I regard this message as a personal attack, from an editor who has made a number of other personal comments about me, which is why I removed it, it has now been restored. I am not going to remove it again, but I do not believe that this is covered by WP:TALK, as the restoring editor claims. If any editor wants to discuss these matters in a civil manner, I am more than willing to do so, but I do not believe that I, or any editor, has to tolerate this kind of attack. I would like very much to hear your opinion. Thanks for your time. ---RepublicanJacobiteTheFortyFive 01:55, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Robbie the Pict

The other edits, yes were just stupid. The last however is not. His name is Brain Robertson, not Robbie the Pict. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.99.96.32 (talk) 23:45, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Recent incidents

Hello.

There were some recent incidents which I have expressed concern over, and it appears that another IP editor is intentionally portraying my edits as bad faith in retaliation for warning him or her for a blatantly inappropriate edit, in fact, an attack against a living person, at the sandbox. I had expressed that I never revert pages more than once and have always intended to make good faith edits to Wikipedia. Since you appear to be an active administrator, I am requesting that you contribute your administrator intervention to this case. I had initially posted about it here. Please let me know if you have any input. I had already figured that the abusive editor (68.120.81.4 (talk · contribs)) would refuse communication given the way that (s)he was behaving, and sure enough did, blanking all warnings from his or her talk page and had even requested speedy deletion under criterion U1 in attempt to hide my warning.

Again, please let me know what input you have in this case. Thanks very much in advance. 70.248.182.33 (talk) 00:52, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

I've left a message on the user's talk page to try to get more information about the edits. ... discospinster talk 01:07, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. In my opinion, it's likely to be blanked the way things are going. It appears that these reverts have been made in bad faith. If (s)he refuses to communicate, what's next? The editor already refused communication with the other administrator who I requested intervene. Thanks. 70.248.182.33 (talk) 01:10, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is invited to contribute, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Supermassive black hole, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. The reverted edit can be found here. Are you sure that was meant for me? ... discospinster talk 20:37, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for reverting my page

Thank you. I've reported the little charmer to WP:AIV. Seems quite WP-savvy, doesn't he? Frutti di Mare 21:00, 14 May 2012 (UTC).
