Notification of pending Foresight and Futures Studies Project Proposal[edit]

As an individual strongly involved with articles involving Foresight, I thought it appropriate to notify you of a new Foresight and Futures Studies Project Proposal being undertaken. I look forward to any discussion you might have on this subject. John b cassel (talk) 17:11, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request[edit]

I noticed you joined WikiProject Futures studies.

Welcome to the team.

We recently revamped the article Outline of futures studies.

It is a top-level page that attempts to map out the entire subject as well as its coverage on Wikipedia. It is intended to be a taxonomy of the subject, and to serve as a table of contents and navigation aid to browse articles (and article sections) about the subject.

It is also a useful tool for the WikiProject to analyze, plan, develop, and revise futures studies material. It is a hub from which to organize futures studies related topics.

It was built as a "reverse outline", a structural model of an existing work, which in addition to being a summary of the work, can reveal the gaps and other weaknesses for revision purposes.

Please look it over.

We need all the help we can get in identifying and filling in missing topics, whether they are included on Wikipedia or not. If a relevant missing topic has an article or article section about it, please add a link into the outline in the relevant section. Create new sections as needed.

While analyzing the outline, please answer the following questions (and fix the outline as needed):

  1. What's missing?
  1. Is the structure of the outline (sections and indents) representative of the subject?
  1. Does the outline help understand the relationships between the topics presented in the best way possible?

The overall purpose of the outline is to help readers understand the subject by showing what belongs to it, and within the subject what belongs to what.

Please help improve it.

It's our bird's eye view.

Thank you. The Transhumanist 19:38, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rohrbeck[edit]

In your edits you are overwhelmingly citing the work of Rene Rohrbeck.

If you have some connection with that person, please disclose it, and please be aware of the WP:SELFCITE guideline. You can reply here if you have any questions. best regards -- Jytdog (talk) 03:02, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Jytdog. This Wikipedia account is used by the Strategic Foresight Research Network at Aarhus University. We aim to give a balanced account of the state of the field. We hope that we don't emphasise our own research, but may have failed to do a good job on it. We will have another look at the articles we edited. We were alerted to the fact that the article in the area of futures studies, foresight, corporate foresight Have been outdated. Please feel free to give us any pointers you might have as we are not natives in Wikipedia but would like to contribute more in the future. DrScholar (talk) 10:28, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for replying and for being so straightforward.
Two things...
First, per WP:USERNAME, you cannot share an account. Each person using this account, should have their own account, and this account should be used by only person. Please stop sharing it.,
Second, we do love experts here - and there are many ways that experts can improve articles. The main ones being: a) ensuring that articles provide a complete overview of a topic -- experts can easily see if an article has gaps or places too much emphasis on something, and b) in the details, knowing right away if content is inaccurate or out of date; and 3) being able to easily provide secondary sources that summarize the state of knowledge of in a given field, and to summarize them accurately. The downside, is that experts can be tempted to cite themselves excessively, which is not a good thing.
Anyway, thanks again for being honest. When you create separate accounts, please be sure that the accounts act separately and never in a coordinated fashion to try to win disputes per WP:GANG and WP:MEAT.
Best regards Jytdog (talk) 13:40, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the guidance Jytdog. We will create separate accounts. We fully share the aims of Wikipedia and sill continue contributing in the field of futures studies and foresight. Thanks again, DrScholar (talk) 19:13, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

great, thanks! Jytdog (talk) 19:16, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
