Some stroopwafels for you![edit]

Hello DrThneed, I want to congratulate you for the articles you've made as part of the Women in Red campaign. A knowledgable editor on New Zealand matters is most definitely appreciated. Keep up the good work! Droodkin (talk) 15:52, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Droodkin:Thank you so much! Encouragement is always nice to get. And I don't know if I'd describe myself as knowledgeable but I'm trying :) DrThneed (talk) 22:37, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

The West Coast Stamp of Approval
I'm so glad you were on the team for the West Coast Wikipedian at Large project, and were so industrious at creating and improving articles and filling those gaps in historic buildings and libraries. You definitely helped make it a success. —Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 10:00, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Ibrahim Omer[edit]

On 25 November 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Ibrahim Omer, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that 42 new MPs were elected to the 53rd New Zealand Parliament: 23 for Labour, including Arena Williams, Ibrahim Omer, Helen White, Neru Leavasa, Ingrid Leary, Rachel Brooking, Anna Lorck, Tracey McLellan, and Shanan Halbert (all pictured); 5 for National, including Joseph Mooney, Simon Watts, and Penny Simmonds; 9 for ACT, including Toni Severin, Simon Court, Brooke van Velden, and Chris Baillie; 3 for the Greens, including Ricardo Menéndez March and Teanau Tuiono; and 2 for Māori, including Rawiri Waititi? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Ibrahim Omer. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Ibrahim Omer), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Congratulations[edit]

Your DYK hook about "noted controversialist" Mary Aldis and her opposition to firing a woman from a cannon received 10,269 page views (856 per hour) while on the Main Page. It is the one of most viewed hooks during the month of February and has thus earned a place on the February stats list. Keep up the great work! Cbl62 (talk) 17:06, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's awesome. Well done. Schwede66 20:12, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Schwede66, thanks. Thought that hook would do well! DrThneed (talk) 21:25, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The New Zealand Barnstar of National Merit[edit]

The New Zealand Barnstar of National Merit
For completing the 150 women in 150 words project - adding so much knowledge of New Zealand women to the encyclopedia!

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
Hey Ms Dr Thneed - your Wiki-work is admirable. I do hope it will endure - For how long will there be interested parties to study it, despite the collapsing of our unsustainable culture? (Am I overly pessimistic??)

I'm a nephew of Paddy Bassett (and of Mary who married Robin Williams, Bridget's parents). Paddy encouraged me to apply my physics training to biology which became the field of study for my career in science research. Now retired.

Best wishes ftrom Canberra - Michael Thorpe - thormirt@gmail.com

Another barnstar![edit]

The New Zealand Barnstar of National Merit
For indefatigable work on New Zealand pages. Thanks for helping push this sisyphean rock of an encyclopaedia uphill! PS - am I right in thinking you're a fellow Dunedinite? Grutness...wha? 02:38, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Are you saying you’ve never met, Grutness? Schwede66 18:12, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We may have done at a WikiMeetup... and I may know them by their real name without realising they're Dr Thneed! Grutness...wha? 03:36, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Anne Wyllie[edit]

On 12 October 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Anne Wyllie, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Anne Wyllie (pictured), also known as the "Spit Queen", now has a Wikipedia biography because a healthcare executive asked who she was? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Anne Wyllie. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Anne Wyllie), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Cwmhiraeth (talk) 00:02, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations. Stunning pageviews. Schwede66 16:43, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Schwede66 this one has been quite the rollercoaster ride! DrThneed (talk) 19:38, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The most viewed for the month so far, half without an image—impressive! theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (they/them) 03:04, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help with it, Theleekycauldron. I hope I haven't blotted my copybook too badly at DYK with the image stuff-up! I hadn't dealt with a commissioned photo on Commons before, and thought it was all OK. I wonder how many views it might have had without the image problem! DrThneed (talk) 03:47, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@DrThneed: no worries on the image problem! mistakes happen. I was also wondering what would've happened, could've easily taken a much bigger share of the views. No use wondering what could have been, though; 42k's nothing to sneeze at! theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (they/them) 06:44, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hook update
Your hook reached 42,308 views (1,762.8 per hour), making it one of the most viewed hooks of October 2021 – nice work!

theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 01:58, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's even better than that, theleekycauldron. I've looked through last year's DYK archive and it was the non-lead hook with the highest hourly views for 2021. That is an outstanding result! It beat other non-picture hooks with saucy page titles like Napoleon's penis or Best Sex I've Ever Had. It also beat the absolute stunner of a hook that was used for Pronunciation of GIF (which you authored, didn't you?). Well done, DrThreed. Schwede66 00:49, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Gosh, that's somewhat amazing to me, I would not have predicted it could possibly do that well! And thank you @Schwede66 and @Theleekycauldron for those very worthwhile diversions I have just enjoyed (gif not gif....love it!). DrThneed (talk) 00:57, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Schwede66: Indeed, it bested my noble steed :) I will point out that Wyllie's hook spent 13 of its 24 hours with an image, but I can't possibly be bothered to add an exception/override to my program—so as far as I'm concerned, that's a non-lead hook! Well done, DrThneed, a deserved throne :) theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 01:01, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Schwede66: Upon updating the stats pages (kinda forgot to get around to that), I found Template:Did you know nominations/Revenge dress—looks like it reached 1,972.2 vph. At this point, though, we should remind ourselves of the DYKSTATS mantra: not a competition, but a celebration. everyone got to the finish line :) theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 01:09, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
